Profile

Hyo (ヒョウ Hyō?) was a member of the Order. Although he didn't make his fame at a young age, he became a formidable assassin over time.

Appearance[]

Hyo was an extremely tall and muscular man with an angular face, sunken black eyes and spiky black hair. He wore a tan shirt under a dark brown suit (in the digital colored manga, the shirt is black and the suit is dark grey, while in the manga, the shirt is light blue and the suit is purple.), a metallic piece attached in the jaw, several earrings, as well two bike chains over his neck, numerous piercings on both his ears, a hoop piercing next to his left eyelid and golden yellow knuckledusters accompanied by black rings over his fingers.

During his battle with Kumanomi, she ripped his right ear off and was later blinded in both of eyes.

Personality[]

Hyo was a very arrogant man who's also quick to anger, frequently threatening to kill Nagumo whenever the latter annoyed him. However, he's also an incredibly loyal member of the both the Order and the JAA as a whole, strictly followed the rules and regulations set down, such as when he initially refused to give Sakamoto and his companions information about the JAA.

Before becoming an Order member, Hyo was considered by Yotsumura to be an assassin with the least amount of talent. Of course, this didn't stop Hyo and instead it gave him the desire to work harder until he was recognized as one of the strongest, showing an extreme sense of dedication.

Because of his less than stellar beginnings, he was hard on himself, as his status as an Order member made him want to stay at the top with the other members, who he called "genius monsters".

By his own admission, he seemed to think he could never become a "true assassin", as he didn't have some of the other Order member's qualities and that he usually thought about things he shouldn't need to, like worrying about saving people; however, this self-reflection led him to appreciate other people's hard work and dedication, as seen when he saw his past self in Heisuke Mashimo.

Despite his loyalty to the Order, Hyo was not an unreasonable sort of man having given Taro Sakamoto the information he wanted upon realizing it was to protect his family.

Hyo also had a softer side and was a polite man, having yelled at Osaragi to drive carefully as an older passenger was in the car and apologized to a doctor for a disturbance after causing a noisy and destructive fight in a hospital. He also helped Heisuke when his bag was taken by accident and even saved him from Kumanomi's attacks as well as purposely got in the way of Kumanomi's attacks so the surrounding civilians wouldn't get injured; this softer side of his made Kumanomi remark how he was incompatible with being an assassin, something he seemed to agree with. Sakamoto described him as a kind-hearted man.

Relationships[]

Nagumo[]

Having been colleagues for years, Hyo found Nagumo to be untrustworthy and often showed open hostility towards him, with Nagumo annoying him with his usual antics. However, after learning about his death, Nagumo looked visibly angry and fired a round of bullets into the sky in honor of Hyo, stating that the ones who die faster in the world are not the untalented people but those who are kind.

Heisuke Mashimo[]

When Heisuke's luggage gone missing at the airport, Hyo offered to help him find it. Even though they just met, Heisuke already considered him a friend. Hyo said that he liked Heisuke when the young man impressed him with his sniping ability. Heisuke was very sad and felt immensely guilty when Hyo died while protecting him from Kumanomi.

Skills & Abilities[]

Overall Skill Level: As a member of the Order, Hyo was one of the strongest assassins in the JAA. Unlike other members of the Order, Hyo favored unarmed combat.

Enhanced Speed and Reflexes: Hyo was incredibly fast, being able to catch Sakamoto off guard. He also detected Shin behind him and retaliated with a kick. He was fast enough to notice debris being thrown at civilians in his fight against Kumanomi, but purposely got in the way to protect bystanders.

Immense Strength: Hyo was able to punch Sakamoto clean through a wall and around with an MRI machine (which can weigh around 4.5 to 7 tons) attached to him. In his fight against Kumanomi, Hyo could punch through a sheet of steel, with the former remarking that his blows were like a jackhammer. Despite Kumanomi's electromagnetic abilities, Hyo eventually overwhelmed her with pure strength alone, rendering her ranged attacks pointless as he'd simply punch through the metal objects being thrown his way and pulverized a wooden pier with one punch. Even when dying, his grip was strong enough that Kumanomi had to self-amputate her arm to escape.

Immense Durability: Hyo took numerous impacts from an MRI machine was activated, turning nearby metal objects into fast projectiles, but was unharmed. He also took a direct punch from Kumanomi, who herself has enhanced strength. He could handle being thrown heavy, metal objects, such as steel beams, cars, with little to no visible damage. When Kumanomi ripped Hyo's right ear off using her electromagnetic powers, Hyo didn't even flinch and continued to fight the assassin. Only after Kumanomi fashioned a coil gun and shot Hyo multiple times with nails did he take significant damage (including neurotrauma), which did not slow him down anyways. In the same fight, Hyo continued fighting with catastrophic damage, overpowering Kumanomi (albeit momentarily) after being fatally injured by multiple boat propellers.

Equipment[]

Brass Knuckles: Hyo had a pair of brass knuckles on either hand with a vine or wavelike design etched on them.

Jaw Piece: Though likely not intended for combat purposes, Hyo had a nonmagnetic jaw piece attached directly to his chin. It was durable enough that Heisuke could ricochet a rifle shot off it.

Etymology[]

  • Hyo meant "leopard, panther" (豹).
