The JCC (Japan Clear Creation) is an academy for aspiring assassins. It is described as Japan's preeminent assassin-training program. According to Natsuki Seba, the JCC has existed for around 50 years.
The JCC has an enrolment of nearly 1,000 students with an 8:2 male-to-female ratio, 35 faculty and boasts a four-year curriculum. The graduation rate is 10%, with the remaining 90% of students dying or quitting. Every student lives in dormitories, as the JCC is located on a remote island.
The JCC is the primary location of the JCC Infiltration Arc.
Overview[]
The academy trains aspirants in a variety of assassin skills ranging from firearm-handling, close-quarters combat and hands-on training. The JCC is described to have an extreme training regimen, and students often do not survive to see graduation. However, well-performing students may acquire an assassin license during their time at the JCC. The JCC is renowned for training extremely powerful assassins such as Taro Sakamoto and Nagumo.
Some teachers such as Satoda-sensei are retired assassins, and teachers wanting to work at the JCC can do so with an internship. Despite their harsh personalities, difficult classes and teaching styles, they mostly care about their students and don't want to see them injured or dead.
Entrance to the JCC is done through a practical examination which applicants must undergo. Tests can be retaken if failed, but are different every year and have a high mortality rate. As per JCC regulation, aspirants cannot have a bounty at the time of application.
Fighting between students is not allowed, but seems to be loosely enforced. Both students and teachers can carry weapons; one close-combat teacher was seen carrying a handgun and students are encouraged to carry a weapon.
The JCC has a Yoshimura Prize, which is awarded to a few students every year. Based on how Natsuki Seba was awarded the prize due to developing an invisibility suit, it can be presumed that the Yoshimura Prize is for those who have made revolutionary developments in their respective departments.
The JCC has no dress code, though students working in laboratories still wear jumpsuits or white coats.
Defenses[]
The JCC is located on a remote island. Entry via boat is impossible as tides are too complex to allow docking; thus the only method of entry or exit is aircraft. The airspace around the JCC is also defended by surface-to-air missiles which destroy any unauthorized aircraft. It can be inferred from this that any intruders that make it onto the island or campus are also immediately killed.
Part-Time Jobs[]
Students can take part-time jobs during their time at the JCC. They vary in pay and risk level. According to Akira, Floaters, Spotters and Test Subjects are some of the most popular part-time jobs.
Floaters[]
Floaters repair and clean job sites after jobs. Floaters have a daily wage of 15,000 yen and are considered to have the lowest-risk job.
Spotters[]
Spotting is a moderately-risky job. Spotters help snipers observe targets and monitor atmospheric conditions and have a daily wage of 20,000 - 50,000 yen.
Test Subjects[]
Test subjects are the most dangerous job. Test subjects are used to examine the effects of newly-developed poisons or weapons. Depending on the risk level, they are paid 30,000 - 800,000 yen per test.
Classes[]
The type of classes taken by students are likely dependent on the major. Some classes have prerequisites, such as poisoning classes which require applicants to be third-year students.
Much like a university or college, the JCC appears to have different majors that students can take. For example, both Akira Akao and Shin Asakura are first-year Assassination Majors. JCC classes includes ordinary lectures (such as "Intro to Assassin History") , but can be interspersed with hands-on demonstrations (e.g having two students take turns using a knife to fight in close-quarters combat classes) or practical exercises (e.g diving or gun assembly).
There are 5 known departments, as shown on an advertisement brochure:
- 暗殺科 - Assassination Department
- 暗殺特殊科 - Special Assassination Department
- 毒殺科 - Poisoning Department
- æ¦å™¨è£½é€ 科 - Weapon Manufacturing Department
- è«œå ±æ´»å‹•ç§‘ - Spy Department
The JCC has graduation tests. Seniors (fourth-years) are given an "Assassin Permission Slip" which allows them to target a specific person for 24 hours. Whether this slip allows the test-taker to kill their target is unknown.
Facilities[]
In addition to normal facilities such as lecture halls, dormitories, libraries and gymnasiums, the JCC boasts modified or specialized facilities not seen in regular schools.
Cafeteria[]
In the cafeteria, students use low-power laser guns to shoot a distant board with buttons. Certain buttons give a receipt for a certain meal, which can then be paid for, with better meals having smaller and more infrequent buttons. The cafeteria is known to have a universally-disliked "JCC Bowl" (consisting of vegetable scraps, army rations and brown rice), a steak lunch and ramen. Natsuki Seba often uses his invisibility suit to walk right up to the board and shoot it, much to the annoyance of other students.
Database[]
The databank is a collection of school records of every student, past and present. In addition to body type, age, and gender the records also list the person's weapon of choice, martial arts specialties and post-graduation activities. The existence of the databank is dubious and a popular urban legend around the JCC and finding it is the goal of Sakamoto, Shin and Akira during the JCC Infiltration Arc.
A man named Byodo is the database. Byodo is a man with a photographic memory, and Amane's grandfather.[1]
Airport[]
The JCC boasts an expansive airport, which is the only way to get in or out. It is large enough to maintain and deploy wide-body airliners.
Diving Pool[]
An expansive diving pool with a diving bell is seen during an expository section.
Medical Center[]
A medical center is mentioned by a student. Due to the JCC's severe training regimen and remote location, it is likely as well-equipped as a regular hospital.
Weapons Research Department Laboratories[]
One is located in the south building. Natsuki Seba uses this facility frequently and has a habit of destroying other student's projects to acquire raw materials.
Amane's Dormitory[]
A fairly rundown dormitory inhabited by Amane and numerous other Slur followers. A disguised Sakamoto is forced to fight his way through this area after being attacked by students before being able to talk with them to try gain information on the database.
