On Roblox, a re-texture or re-skin is a texture that has been edited by a user from an existing texture. Re-texturing changes the surface of a mesh but not its shape, as it is the same mesh, but a different texture. Most popular items published in the marketplace are re-textures, including the Dominus series, Valkyrie series, and Visor series.

There are two official re-texture groups: the Retexture Artists Official Channel (owned by administrator BrightEyes) and the Retexture Apprentices (owned by former administrator and UGC creator tarabyte).
The re-texturing community has mostly faded away since the release of the UGC accessory avatar shop. Due to the release of this feature, items are more rarely uploaded by Roblox 
, which makes it more difficult for community re-textures to be published.
