Using only UploadWizard for uploads

[modifitgar il code]
Wikimedia Commons logo

Hello! Sorry for writing in English. It was noted that on this wiki upload is not fully functional for users, who will experience a very difficult and/or illegal uploading. In fact, the licenses/copyright tags dropdown is empty, making it hard or impossible to comply with copyright requirements during upload itself.

Presumably, you don't have interest nor energies to have hundreds templates with the now required HTML, even less a local EDP. I propose to have

so that you can avoid local maintenance and all users can have a functioning, easy upload interface in their own language. All registered users can upload on Commons and existing files will not be affected.

All this will get done around 2014-07-03.

  1. If you disagree with the proposal, just remove your wiki from the list. Remember also to create MediaWiki:Licenses locally with any content (see a simple example), or uploads will be soon disabled anyway by MediaWiki itself (starting in version 1.24wmf11).
  2. To make the UploadWizard even better, please tell your experience and ideas on commons:Commons:Upload Wizard feedback.

You have kept upload enabled locally, but there is still no license dropdown... you need to add something here, or the users will be unable to correctly upload files. --Nemo bis (talk) 17:29, 15 favrer 2015 (CET)
I will take care of it. --Andreas (talk) 03:19, 16 favrer 2015 (CET)

Hi! GFDL was originally made for software manuals and it is not a good license for photos and other media. So I suggest to remove it from the list of licenses. It will not affect existing files. Only remove the option to select GFDL for new uploads.

Also I think the page is not created correctly. Free files should be uploaded to Commons but if the plan is to allow local uploads then the page should be changed to something like this (I write in English - you have to translate it):

* Licenzas libras (p.pl. chargiar si sin Commons!) (own work)
** PD-self|Public domain
** Self|Cc-by-sa-4.0|Creative Commons Share-Alike 4.0

And then you also need to create the relevant templates {{PD-self}}, {{Self}} and {{Cc-by-sa-4.0}}. But if you allow local uploads you need to check the files that is uploaded so I suggest that you ask users to upload to Commons instead. --MGA73 (talk) 22:57, 16 zercladur 2021 (CEST)

Hi MGA73,
I've taken your suggestion and removed GFDL from the list. For the rest, I think that local uploads are so rare here (and usually concern logos, which are not accepted on Commons), that we can deal with it as the need arises. --Terfili (talk) 21:58, 20 zercladur 2021 (CEST)
Thank you Terfili!
Just to be sure you know: The part of the line before the "|" is the template that will be added to the file page. The part after the "|" the the text the uploader will see. So if someone choses "Public domain" or "Creative Commons" then {{Chascha da Commons}} will be added just like on Datoteca:Il Pitschen Prinzi.jpg. --MGA73 (talk) 22:06, 20 zercladur 2021 (CEST)
