Blaze the Cat is a major character in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, first appearing as the deuteragonist of the Sonic Rush duology.
She is a pyrokinetic anthropomorphic cat from another dimension to Sonic's and is the guardian of the Sol Emeralds (her dimension's version of the Chaos Emeralds). She is also the princess of the Sol Empire, the close friend of Marine the Raccoon and one of the two arch-nemeses (alongside her partner and best friend, Silver the Hedgehog) of Eggman Nega.
She has been voiced by Nao Takamori in the Japanese version, and by Erica Schroeder, Laura Bailey, and currently Erica Lindbeck in the English version.
What Makes Her Pure Good?[]
- Although she had corrupting factors in her debut in Sonic Rush such as being cold, aloof and anxious, she subverted them by the end of the game and didn't show those traits again; even though she prefers to work alone, she will accept help from others.
- She guarded the Sol Emeralds to keep her world safe.
- She defeated Dr. Eggman and Eggman Nega who tried to take over her world and Sonic's (though in Nega's case, destroy them).
- When the Sol Emeralds get stolen, Blaze went on a quest to retrieve them.
- She stopped Eggman multiple times and retrieved the Sol Emeralds each time.
- Formed a friendship with Cream the Rabbit and protected her multiple times.
- Went to rescue Cream alone under the orders of Eggman.
- Transformed into Burning Blaze and teamed up with Sonic who turned into Super Sonic to defeat the Egg Salamander.
- In Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), she teamed up with Silver to stop Iblis from causing destruction to his world.
- She gave Silver the blue Chaos Emerald and told him to keep it as a lucky charm.
- She ultimately sacrificed herself to stop Iblis by sealing him inside her, saving Silver's world.
- In Sonic Rush Adventure, she teamed up with Sonic again to stop Captain Whisker and retrieve the stolen powerful artifact known as the Jeweled Scepter.
- Helped Sonic destroy the Ghost Whale and unfroze the Vikings.
- While annoyed with her, Blaze was tolerable of Marine and primarily suggested she be left behind for her own safety as their encounters with the pirates would get more dangerous (Sonic and Tails even shared this sentiment when they were headed to the Pirates' Hideout).
- While it was harsh, her calling out Marine's immaturity, bossiness and arrogance would eventually make the latter realize she needed to improve and grow up in order to be a better captain (and for everyone else to view her as such).
- After Marine managed to retrieve the Jeweled Scepter while Captain Whisker held her captive, Blaze thanked Marine and has more patience with her.
- When it was revealed the Eggman and Eggman Nega were behind Captain Whisker and the theft of the Jeweled Scepter, she and her allies pursued them into their mountain base. When the doctors threatened to conquer both Sonic's and Blaze's dimensions, she turned into Burning Blaze and together with Super Sonic battled the Egg Wizard.
- Stops Eggman Nega from using his "Planet-Buster Laser" to destroy Blaze's dimension.
- In Sonic Generations, she thanks Sonic for saving her from isolation, and later helps him and his past counterpart to stop both Eggmen.
- Although she is usually portrayed seriously, she doesn't darken the story whatsoever.
- In The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, she helped Sonic and everyone else to stop the Mirage Express from going out of control to save everyone within the vicinity.
Comics[]
- She apologizes to Badnik pirates when she realized they were not working for Whisker and does not attack them more than warranted.
- She helped Sonic and his friends defeat Neo Metal Sonic.
- She taught Silver how to do gardening.
- She helps Sonic regain his memories using the Sol Emeralds after he accidently gets sent to her world.
- She helps Sonic destroy Eggperial City and get the Warp Topaz back to its original location.
