~ Mary Elnor threatening Alice to finish the “prayer”. |
Mary Elnor, otherwise known as the Virgin Mary, is the titular main antagonist of the 2021 supernatural horror film The Unholy.
She was portrayed by Marina Mazepa, who also portrayed Gabriel in Malignant.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- Even though she was a worshipper of Satan, she doesn't care for him and only serves him so that he can grant her immortality.
- She deceived people that she was a messenger of God in her lifetime, so that they will fall for her lies and eventually get damned to Hell, just so that Satan will get pleased and continue granting her immortality.
- Killed several people who know her lies and sought to defeat her.
- Though she was hung and burned, it is more than deserved due to how horrible she was.
- Upon returning as a ghost, she used her descendant Alice that she was the Virgin Mary, so that through her, she will deceive people through miracles and eventually get condemned. Alice was innocent and thought Elnor was actually the Virgin Mary.
- Killed a priest named Father Hagan after he figured out the truth about her, and sadistically hung his corpse on the wall.
- She doesn't care for Alice, but finds her as a useful tool for her plans, as she made a deal with the Devil that she is immortal as long as her descendants thrive, otherwise if all her descendants are gone, she will get condemned.
- Threatened Alice to finish her prayer or else she will never speak again.
- Incinerated Father Bishop Gyles, though he probably deserved it due to him knowing her true nature and letting her continue her crimes.
- Tried to kill Gerry, but Alice sacrifices herself to save his life. This in turn causes Mary to disappear and condemned to Hell, as Alice was her link to the living world. However, Elnor deserved it due to all her heinous crimes and actions.
Trivia[]
- Prior to her death. Mary Elnor gave birth to a son. If it is confirmed that she does care for him, it would strip her of her Pure Evil status. However it is more than apparent that it was wedlock that created him, and considering that she intended to return through his descendants, was likely so he could be useful to her in the long run and not because she loved him. This would also prove she doesn't care for her partner.
