She is a 13-year old girl, and the oldest of the three orphan sisters who is the brainy and sarcastic one of the trio, but is otherwise the most mature of the trio. Like her younger sisters, Margo has been adopted by Gru. She is partly the reason why Vector is trapped on the moon.
She is voiced by Miranda Cosgrove, who also played Summer Hathaway in School of Rock, Carly Shay in ICarly, and Megan Parker in Drake & Josh.
Margo is first seen returning back to Miss Hattie's Home for Girls with her sisters Edith and Agnes where she tries to act hopeful to Miss Hattie, but when she reports to her the cookie sales, Miss Hattie is angry and warns Margo and her sisters that if they don't sell enough, they will be put in the Box of Shame.
She, along with Edith and Agnes are adopted by Gru. At first, she dislikes him and refuses to accept him as her new father because he wasn't interested in paying the cookies since their first meeting from the beginning. However, she eventually learned to get along with him, who learned to care for her in return.
Suddenly, their relationship as father and daughter is broken briefly when Dr. Nefario sent Miss Hattie to pick up the girls. It is somewhat rebuilt after the girls were kidnapped by Vector who demanded the moon from Gru, in exchange for releasing the girls. Gru delivered the moon, but Vector goes back on his word swearing to give him a beating for it as the girls eagerly await him.
When Gru comes to their aid, Margo would be forced to jump from Vector's ship during a life-threatening situation. Once Gru rescued her, she thought of him as a father and he readopted them as his daughters. At the end, Gru told the girls a story and kissed them on the head when he got to Margo she hugged him and said she loved him finally thinking of him as a dad. Although shocked at first, Gru is touched by these words and admits he loved her in return.
Despicable Me 2[]
In this sequel, Margo dresses as a knight to entertain the guests at Agnes' birthday. Later at night, Margo is texting a friend "Avery" on her phone in bedtime, and Gru is concerned that she might be talking to a guy behind his back, he asks her whether Avery is a boy or a girl.
At Paradise Mall, Margo and her sisters visit at the mall where Gru is doing his mission to look for the suspect with his partner, Lucy Wilde. However, Margo encounters and falls for a handsome boy name Antonio Perez, who is revealed to be the son of Eduardo Perez, much to Gru's horror. Gru tries to separate the two while Margo goes on a "date" with Antonio who is stopped by Gru.
At some point later, at the Cinco De Mayo party, Gru finds a depressed Margo, who tells him that Antonio is dancing with another girl, and he has cheated on her. Gru comforts her and tells her that the boy made a mistake in passing her up as she thanks him for his words. However, the second she leaves, he freezes Antonio with a freeze ray in return. Gru tells the girls to stay at home while he's going to save Lucy from El Macho.
The next day, Margo was playing a unicorn board game with Agnes, they hear a strange growling noise, and it was Kevin who was transformed into a mutated monster by El Macho with the PX-41 serum. Dr. Nefario saves the girls by curing Kevin. He takes the girls with him to save Gru, turn the purple minions, and foil El Macho's evil plan.
In the climax, Margo is last seen with her sisters in a marriage between Gru and Lucy, and Margo gives attention to everyone so Agnes can do her speech that she has practiced for the Mother's Day show, though this time she can put some feeling into it since she really cared about her mother, Lucy.
Despicable Me 3[]
Margo, along with her two sisters, is seen surprising Gru and Lucy with a backyard luau they had prepared for them, and gets upset when Gru admits that he and Lucy lost their job at the AVL.
At Freedonia, Fritz takes Margo, Edith, Agnes, and Lucy to go visit the annual Freedonian Cheese Festival. There, Margo imparts words of advice to Lucy to become a good mother. This leads to Lucy demanding Margo to help a boy named Niko by eating his serving of cheese as part of a traditional dance. Margo reluctantly agrees and takes a bite of his cheese, causing mass celebration and admonishment from Niko.
Niko and his mother arrive at Dru's mansion and berate Lucy and Margo for refusing Niko's engagement pig. Margo is shocked when Lucy steps in and acts a tough mother while defending Margo. Surprisingly, Margo hugs Lucy for her act.
Margo and her sisters are later kidnapped by Balthazar Bratt and end up stranded on top of a building. While Gru and Dru fight Balthazar Bratt at Hollywood, Lucy heads off and rescues the girls. The building they were on starts to collapse, and the three girls are left hanging on the edge. Lucy gets to the building and uses bubblegum to grab the girls when they fall and gets them to safe ground. Margo hugs and thanks Lucy for this and they runoff.
Despicable Me 4[]
Due to the threat of Maxime Le Mal, Gru and his family are relocated by the AVL to adopt new identities in a new location until the villain is caught. At middle school, Margo experiences bullying, as they rig her locker with a glitter bomb. She and her sisters welcome new neighbor, Poppy, into their dwellings.
Gru and Lucy later join Perry and his wife Patsy at a country club while Agnes, Margo, and Edith stay at home with Junior, joined by Poppy and Lenny the Honey Badger. However, Ubelschlecht, Lenny's previous owner, shows up at the house for Lenny, but her asking for Gru is enough to tip the girls off that something is wrong. After Margo texts them, Gru and Lucy run back home just as Ubelschlecht uses her super-wheelchair to try and attack. The family fights her and Lucy manages to briefly disable the wheelchair, but Maxime and Valentina arrive in time to kidnap Junior while the family is distracted.
After Gru rescues Junior and defeats Maxime with help from the Mega Minions, the family returns home with Dr. Nefario turning Junior back from his cockroach form to normal. The family later throws a barbecue party at the backyard.
Quotes[]
“
Margo: [to Gru] But what about the other people who ordered cookies? Gru: Life is full of disappointments... for some people. [Agnes screams and Gru swerves.] Gru: Don't do that! Agnes: [points] Super Silly Fun Land! Can we go? Please? Gru: No. Edith: But we've never been! And it's the funniest place on earth! Gru: Don't care.
„
~ Margo to Gru
Trivia[]
As shown in the first Despicable Me, Margo, Edith and Agnes were already sisters at the orphanage prior to any adoption proceedings, therefore supporting they are indeed bound by blood.
