Biography[]

Janine used her Ariados to get from a building to the museum in Goldenrod City. She also had her attached to a string to descend down to take the Big Pearl from the museum.^[1] She and Ariados were remembered by the Pokémon Association director, who reported how Janine encountered Suicune.^[2]

She and Ariados reported to the director and Bill. They noted she was the newest Gym Leader of Fuchsia City, and the director told them of the new rule concerning Gym Badges.^[3] Janine and Ariados came to the Indigo League to participate in the Gym Leaders' tournament.^[4]

Ariados was later used in a battle against Falkner and his Noctowl after Janine switched her Grimer out for Ariados. Ariados started to attack Noctowl but Noctowl was able to dodge every attack. Ariados created a web with its String Shot, stopping Noctowl in its tracks, and it used Leech Life to defeat Noctowl. Falkner then used his Skarmory but its body was quickly surrounded with String Shot. Janine thought she saw her father, so she walked away from the battle.^[5]

Inside the train, Janine had her Ariados combat the Team Rocket grunts.^[6]
