Narrator: A frolicking forest stream provides our heroes with a little rest and relaxation, en route to Daybreak Town and Dawn's next Pokémon Contest!; [Piplup backstrokes in the water.]
Dawn's Piplup: Piplup! Lup...
Ash Ketchum: All right, Gible! While we practice Draco Meteor, you need to concentrate and focus your dragon-type Pokémon power!; [Gible starts concentrating, loading up the meteor.]
Ash Ketchum: Now concentrate that power in your center, and then fire!; [After a while, Gible shoots a meteor up in the sky.]
Ash Ketchum: Looking good!; [The meteor pops and falls toward Piplup. Piplup panics as the meteor hits him. As the smoke clears, Piplup faints, has a bump on his head and sinks in the water.]
Dawn's Piplup: (Weakly) Piplup...
Dawn: Ah! Piplup, no!
Ash's Pikachu: (Concerned) Pika?; [Dawn picks up the wounded Piplup.]
Dawn: Oh, Piplup, are you okay?
Dawn's Piplup: (Stunned) Pip-ip-lup?
Brock: You know, Piplup's always in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Dawn: (Annoyed) Ash, be careful, please.
Ash Ketchum: Sorry about that! Gible, get the next one right, okay?; [Gible bites into the rock.]
Ash Ketchum: Gible...; [Gible chews the rock. The rock suddenly sinks him into the water.]
Ash Ketchum: Gible!
Dawn: Oh no!
Ash's Pikachu: Pika!
Ash Ketchum: OK, Buizel, quick, I choose you!
Ash's Buizel: Bui!; [Buizel land afloat in the water.]
Ash Ketchum: All right, Buizel, get underwater and save Gible!
Ash's Buizel: Bui-bui!; [Buizel dives underwater. It picks Gible up on top of his head. The rocks lets go. Buizel takes Gible above water.]
Ash Ketchum: Awesome, Buizel, thanks!
Ash's Buizel: Bui!
Ash Ketchum: Gible, return, now!; [Ash returns Gible. Buizel deflates its sac. Suddenly, two figures dash across the waterfall. Everyone yelps and becomes alert.]
Ash Ketchum: What's that?; [Clayton and Mr. Mime appear at the top of the ramp.]; [The opening theme and title card plays.]; [Ash & friends gaze with the duo.]
Ash Ketchum: Whoa. Check them out.
Dawn: Who's that Pokémon?; [Dawn scans the pokemon with her dex.]
Pokédex: Mr. Mime. The Barrier Pokémon. By rapidly moving its fingers, Mr. Mime can stop air molecules to create an invisible wall.
Clayton: I'm a trainer named Clayton! I'm also the man with the sublime fists! They call me "Clayton Sub-fists!"
Brock: He's kidding.
Ash Ketchum: Clayton Sub-fists?
Clayton: And this is my partner! In short, my-par, Mr. Mime!
Mr. Mime: Mime!
Dawn: That's so weird.
Dawn's Piplup: Lup.
Ash's Pikachu: Pika?
Ash's Buizel: Bui?
Clayton: Now for you! You all look like Pokémon trainers! Poké-ners, in short!
Dawn: Poké-ners, right.
Brock: Wow, I'd love to know where those abbreviations come from, you know?
Clayton: All right, tell me your names!
Ash Ketchum: My name's Ash, and these are my Pokémon Pikachu and Buizel.
Ash's Pikachu: Pika!
Ash's Buizel: Bui!
Dawn: And my name's Dawn. I'd like you to meet my partner Piplup.
Dawn's Piplup: Lup.
Brock: Hello, I'm Brock. And I'm a Pokémon breeder.
Clayton: Got it! Ash-pika, Ash-bui, Dawn-pip, Bro-bree!
Brock: Huh?
Clayton: Got it! Nice to meet you all!
Brock: Uh, likewise.
Dawn: Nice to meet you.
Clayton: You see, I'm a Pokémon martial artist! Mr. Mime and I have been training together for many years, and this is my personal training field!
Ash Ketchum: A trainer and a martial artist!
Ash's Pikachu: (Impressed) Pika-pika!
Clayton: That's right. A Pokémon battle is where skills and wills collide. For years, I traveled the world honing my Pokémon martial arts skills. But after arriving here, I chose to remain, because this is the perfect place for me to train and attain the highest of skill levels. So I've been training right here ever since!
Dawn: I'm impressed!
Brock: I'm thinking.
Clayton: By the way, you! Buizel!
Ash's Buizel: Bui?
Clayton: That heroic rescue of yours was inspiring!
Brock: Heroic rescue? That's over the top.
Clayton: You've got potential! And so...; [The duo jump to the ground, facing Ash & friends.]
Clayton: I want to see just how powerful you are, so will you battle against my Mr. Mime?
Ash's Buizel: (Determined) Bui! Bui-bui!
Ash Ketchum: Yeah, we'll show you, all right!
Ash's Buizel: (Excited) Bui-bui!
Clayton: Over here!
Ash Ketchum: Come on, Buizel, let's go!
Ash's Buizel: Bui!; [Ash & friends follow Clayton. Team Rocket watch on from behind a mound.]
Jessie: Doesn't that over-buff buffoon ever get off stage?
James: He's in a movie with no one to yell "cut".
Meowth: Would you two stooges stop moaning about Mr. Ego and check out that marvelous Mr. Mime?
Jessie: Marvelous why?
Meowth: Because those Mr. Mime-ish eyes are the eyes of a natural-born champion!
James: You see that?
Meowth: Let's go watch them duke it out, and you'll see, too!; [A battle is set on a grassy field. Ash, with Buizel and Clayton with Mr. Mime are on opposite sides.]
Dawn: I wonder what kind of battle it's going to be.
Dawn's Piplup: Piplup.
Ash's Pikachu: Pika.
Brock: It all depends on how Buizel goes up against a Psychic-type like Mr. Mime.
Clayton: All right! Give me your best!
Ash Ketchum: Let's do it, Buizel! Use Aqua Jet!; [Buizel surrounds itself in a watery aura and charges toward the target.]
Clayton: Mr. Mime, Psychic, go!; [Mr. Mime glows its eyes and stretches it arms forward as it roars. Holding the move in place, it redirects Buizel, causing the Pokemon to bash into a tree and fall down.]
Ash Ketchum: No, Buizel!
Ash's Pikachu: (Concerned) Pika!
Ash Ketchum: Buizel, you okay?; [Buizel gets up and faces Ash.]
Ash's Buizel: Bui!
Clayton: Attacking us head on shows me you've got real guts! I like that!
Ash Ketchum: Whoa. They're strong, but I'm not going to lose!
Brock: Mr. Mime will just dodge all of Buizel's attacks.
Ash Ketchum: Buizel, use Sonic Boom!
Ash's Buizel: Bui!; [Buizel jumps and executes the move.]
Clayton: Double Team, now!
Mr. Mime: Mr. Mime!; [Mr. Mime creates several copies of itself. Buizel takes out the copies with Sonic Boom. Mr. Mime leaps.]
Ash Ketchum: Use Aqua Jet one more time!; [With Mr. Mime in mid-air, Buizel charges towards it. Clayton snickers.]
Brock: Huh? Uh-oh! Hey, Ash, it's a trap! Look out!
Clayton: So, we'll finish this off with an explosive fist. Mr. Mime, Thunder Punch!
Mr. Mime: Mister Mi-i-ime!; [Mr. Mime surrounds its fist with electricity and punches Buizel, knocking and fainting him.]
Ash Ketchum: Buizel!
Clayton: This battle is over, and that makes it bat-over for short!
Jessie: Mr. Mime is marvelous.
James: But the bloke's abbreviations make me climb the proverbial walls. Bat-over sounds like a baseball game.
Meowth: Who cares? concentrate on giving Mr. Mime to the boss as a gift, and you'll go a long way to give our money a lift.
Team Rocket: (Singing) He's talking funny. We're making money. Who cares?
James: Catching that marvelous Mr. Mime's not a certainty.
Meowth: Which is why you leave the details to me!
Jessie: Great, we'll see.; [Ash consoles a frustrated Buizel.]
Ash Ketchum: Are you okay, Buizel?
Ash's Pikachu: (Concerned) Pika?
Dawn's Piplup: (Concerned) Piplup?
Ash Ketchum: I feel really bad, Buizel. Guess I got a little carried away.
Clayton: So, Ash-bui. So tell me, what is the most important thing in a Pokémon battle? Now think. The secret lies deep within a lake and the capacity to stop its water.
Dawn: Its water? I'm clueless.
Clayton: I mean your mind. A mind that is undisturbed by the wind will conquer the flow of water. That is the secret art of the battle.
Ash Ketchum: I get it...maybe.
Ash's Buizel: (To Ash, insistent) Bui, bui. Bui!
Clayton: Oh, of course! You want to train with me.
Ash Ketchum: Yeah, and I want to train, too! So won't you please teach me everything you know, Chancellor?
Dawn: He means it.
Clayton: It won't be easy. Do you think you have what it takes, Ash-bui?
Ash Ketchum: For sure!
Ash's Buizel: Bui.
Clayton: That's good enough for me.
Ash Ketchum: Thanks a lot, Clayton.
Ash's Buizel: Bui-bui!; [Ash's gang and Clayton are outside a cabin.]
Ash Ketchum: What kind of training are we going to do?
Ash's Buizel: Bui?
Clayton: Take a look over there.; [Clayton points to a path beside the waterfall.]
Ash Ketchum: Yeah, what?; [Clayton and Mr. Mime jump and face Ash & friends.]
Clayton: You see, a battle is a collision of fists, So Ash-bui will learn to master this move. (Firmly) Mr. Mime!
Mr. Mime: Mime!
Clayton: Ice Punch, let's go, now!
Mr. Mime: Mime...; [Mer. Mime concentrates and generates an icy aura on its fist. After a while, it punches into the entire waterfall and freezes it.]
Ash Ketchum: Ice Punch, wow!
Dawn: That is awesome.
Brock: The water froze in one punch!; [The ice shatters and the water falls again.]
Clayton: Ash-bui, you punch the water until your mind draws a blank. Then you will be able to master Ice Punch. So, your turn!
Ash Ketchum: Right!
Ash's Buizel: Bui!; [Ash and Buizel practice punching the waterfall using both fists, into a rhythm.]
Clayton: Think about your form, as well. You won't be able to master it that way.
Ash Ketchum: Yes, sir!; [Team Rocket watch on.]
Jessie: Since when does the trainer train along with the trainee?
James: Well, training twerps wrote the manual on extra help. (Smiles) They're pros at being powerless.
Meowth: Heads up, kids. I just bagged me a brainstorm!
James: Speak!
Meowth: Let's consider Mr. Mime. No doubt the twerp's going to ask loudmouth for a rousing rematch, and as soon as he does, Mr. Mime's bound to start wearing out and getting ready for some serious sleepy snoozing time. That's when we swoop in for the catch!
James & Jessie: Why yes, natch!; [Ash and Buizel continue practicing.]
Dawn: I thought this would be a new way to train.
Ash's Pikachu: Pika.
Dawn's Piplup: Lup.
Clayton: You're doing it all wrong!
Ash Ketchum: Huh?; [Clayton steps next to Ash & Buizel.]
Clayton: You'll never be able to master Ice Punch as long as you insist on punching weakly like that!
Ash Ketchum: So then, how do you do it?
Clayton: Like thiiis! Hi-yah!; [Clayton shows his punches. In slow-motion, one punch retracts without splashing the waterfall.]
Dawn & Brock: Ah!
Brock: Look at the water, it didn't even splash!; [Ash looks at Clayton's fist.]
Ash Ketchum: No way. Your fist didn't even get wet.
Clayton: Mastering Ice Punch requires intensive concentration as well as speed. Simply punching away isn't going to do anything! You must keep that in mind if you want to master Ice Punch, you see?
Ash Ketchum: I think so.
Clayton: Then you just keep training, Ash-bui! Mr. Mime, let's go!
Mr. Mime: Mime!; [Clayton and Mr. Mime jump off.]
Ash Ketchum: Concentration and speed, too.; [Ash and Buizel exert their punches in a rhythm while running. Ash watches Buizel, and becomes surprised when Buizel chops off a small leaf in slow motion. With the sky getting slightly darker, Brock is stirring something in a pot. Pikachu puts the plate down, and suddenly notices Ash & Buizel.]
Ash's Pikachu: Pika?
Ash Ketchum: Buizel, concentrate, and collect your strength into a single spot!
Ash's Buizel: Bui!
Ash Ketchum: Now, punch!; [Buizel concentrates, then punches, splashing the waterfall.]
Ash's Buizel: Bui!
Ash Ketchum: Do it again, and this time, give it all you can give it!
Ash's Buizel: Bui!
Ash Ketchum: Buizel, concentrate. Just concentrate.; [Buizel focuses while preparing to punch.]
Ash Ketchum: Now, punch!; [Buizel punches again. This time, an ice segment appears on the back of its hand. Ash looks at it.]
Ash Ketchum: Whoa. The speed of your punch must have cooled down your fist, and that made it freeze. Concentrate a little more, and you'll be able to do it, I'm sure.
Ash's Buizel: Bui. Bui!
Ash Ketchum: Now, what else can we come up with to get Buizel's concentration all charged up?; [Everybody is at the dinner table. Clayton & Mr. Mime eat their meal loudly and frantically.]
Dawn's Piplup: Piplup.
Dawn: Looks to me like you think Brock's cooking is really good, too.
Brock: I like to think I'm a pretty good cook, anyway.
Clayton: Good? unbelievably good! Unbe-good, for short!
Mr. Mime: Mister Mime.
Dawn: Unbe-good?
Clayton: Considering we eat berries and nothing more!
Dawn: Just berries? Seriously?
Clayton: Yes, but this is delicious! It's unbe-licious for short!; [Cut to Team Rocket.]
Jessie: Hun-empty-tum.
James: You're hungry with an empty tummy?
Jessie: Hun-empty-tum.
James: Right! Weird abbreviations can be contagious. Oh please, Meowth, can we catch Mr. Mime and get out of this place? I'm hun-empty-tum, just like her.
Meowth: We're no match against that Mr. Mime unless that dynamo runs out of gas! Of course I'd abbreviate it to no-ma for short.
James: (Sweatdrops) Of course. Most little brains would.; [Ash & Buizel looks at their food, refusing to eat while everyone else munches away.]
Dawn: Aren't you going to eat, Ash?
Ash Ketchum: Yeah...
Ash's Pikachu: Pikachu?
Ash Ketchum: Buizel, let's go.
Ash's Buizel: Bui!; [Ash & Buizel leave their food behind and set off.]
Dawn's Piplup: Lup?
Dawn: Ash, where are you going?
Brock: Ash is so preoccupied with mastering Ice Punch, he doesn't want to eat.
Clayton: Ash-Bui has potential, so you don't have to worry about them. In short, I would say no-wo. (Brings his bowl forward, demanding) And I would like seconds please! And in short, that's sec-plea!
Brock: No...no-wo?
Dawn: Sec-plea? okay...; [Night falls. Ash, Pikachu and Buizel stand outside on a empty field, feeling the breeze.]
Ash Ketchum: Hey, look at that...; [Ash flashes back to the moment punches the leaf cleanly, followed by the first showing of ice on his fist. The flashback ends.]
Ash Ketchum: That's it!
Ash's Buizel: Bui!
Ash Ketchum: That'll work!
Ash Ketchum: Being Buizel's trainer, I can't let things stay stuck like this for long, that's for sure. (To Buizel) We're going to lick this! So let's master Ice Punch no matter what it takes, okay?
Ash's Buizel: (Determined) Bui-bui!
Ash's Pikachu: (Determined) Pika-Pika!; [Clayton and Mr. Mime stand on the roof of their cabin.]
Clayton: I can see in its eyes that Buizel will succeed. When it does, Mr. Mime...tell the truth, will you then be able to defeat Buizel?
Mr. Mime: Mime, Mime!
Clayton: Then the next match is certain to be a battle of dueling fists, roaring and raucous!; [Buizel is opposite Ash and Pikachu, the latter holding a handful of leaves.]
Ash Ketchum: Ready, Buizel?
Ash's Buizel: Bui!; [Ash takes a leaf from Pikachu and drops it, blowing in the wind toward Buizel. Buizel focuses and watches the leaf. He punches. The leaf drifts above his fist.]
Ash Ketchum: Just letting loose with a punch won't do anything. You've got to pinpoint your punch to hit the moving leaf, get it? That'll increase your concentration and make your punch a lot more powerful. Try it again!
Ash's Pikachu: Pika.; [Ash deploys another leaf. Buizel focuses and watches it. He punches. The leaf bounces off and falls down.]
Ash Ketchum: Again, and focus everything on the leaf!
Ash's Buizel: Bui!; [Ash deploys another leaf. Buizel focuses deeper. As he prepares to punch, his paw glows white.]
Ash Ketchum: All right, it's working!
Ash's Pikachu: (Excited) Pika!
Ash's Buizel: Bui!; [Buizel punches. The leaf bounces off and falls down.]
Ash Ketchum: Almost. That was close.
Ash's Buizel: (Shocked) Bu... (Ready) Bui-bui!
Ash Ketchum: You can do it, Buizel!; [Ash deploys another leaf. Buizel's paw glows white as he focuses.]
Ash Ketchum: Go for it!
Ash's Buizel: Bui!; [Buizel punches. The leaf drifts above his fist and falls down. He growls in frustration.]
Ash's Buizel: Bui...
Ash's Pikachu: Pika.
Ash Ketchum: It's OK, Buizel. Don't give up!; [By sunrise, Clayton meets up with Ash & friends outside.]
Ash Ketchum: I want to challenge you to another battle, Clayton.
Clayton: So, are you saying that you've mastered Ice Punch, Ash-bui?
Ash Ketchum: Yeah!
Ash's Buizel: Bui!
Ash's Pikachu: Pika!
Dawn: Ash, are you all right?
Ash Ketchum: Of course. You just watch us.
Clayton: I accept! Challenge on!; [Thunder rumbles and lightning strikes. Ash, Buizel, Clayton and Mr. Mime are in their respective positions. Team Rocket watch on.]
Jessie: I'm hearing some thunder bumpers.
James: And they usually signify sheets of showers.
Meowth: Catching Mr. Mime in the rain is going to be like trying to catch the rain itself. (Angrily) There's no time to waste, so let's make haste!; [Meowth goes ahead of the bushes.]
James: I don't detect any prudent planning in that! Wait!; [Team Rocket advance forward towards the battlefield.]
Team Rocket: Hand over Mr. Mime, and do it on our time!
Ash Ketchum: You guys?
Jessie: The fact I'm a girl should be quite clear!
James: And this guy and gal will fill you with fear!
Jessie: On the wind!
James: Past the stars!; [A lightning strike hits the ground and blasts Team Rocket off.]
Jessie: Abbreviated mottos stink, too!
Meowth: Since we didn't catch Mr. Mime, we've got lots of time.
James: Perhaps we could forge an abbreviated blastoff.
Team Rocket: We-bla-off-aaah!
Wobbuffet: Wo-fet!
Ash Ketchum: All right, let's get going, okay?
Clayton: Let's! Ready when you are!
Ash Ketchum: Use Aqua Jet!
Ash's Buizel: Bui!; [Buizel charges toward Mr. Mime.]
Clayton: Mr. Mime, use Psychic, now!; [Mr. Mime blocks Buizel with Psychic and rotates Aqua Jet before letting go. This time, Buizel sticks the landing on the tree feet first and returns to Ash.]
Ash Ketchum: Yes!
Dawn: (Impressed) Awesome!
Ash's Pikachu: (Excited) Pika!
Dawn's Piplup: (Excited) Piplup!
Brock: Wow, Buizel averted the effects of Mr. Mime's Psychic!
Ash Ketchum: Now, Buizel, use Sonic Boom!; [As Buizel leaps up and exerts...]
Clayton: Double Team!; [..Mr. Mime makes copies of itself. The real one leaps forward.]
Brock: Come on, Ash. You can't beat him by using the same move as before.
Clayton: Bro-bree's right about that. The time has come for you to show me your Ice Punch, Ash-bui!
Ash Ketchum: Let's show 'em, Buizel! Ice Punch, let's go!; [As Buizel prepares the move, stars sparkle around his glowing arm. Dawn and Brock exclaim, impressed.]
Dawn: Ah!
Brock: All right! Looking good!
Clayton: Now, Mr. Mime, use Thunder Punch!; [Thunder Punch and Ice Punch collide together. They continue straining. Buizel suddenly loses grip, which Ash notices.]
Ash Ketchum: Hurry up and dodge it, Buizel!; [Buizel ducks to dodge the move. He returns to Ash.]
Clayton: But you won't dodge our next move.
Ash Ketchum: Clayton's got a really powerful Mr. Mime, for sure. But that's no reason to give up, we'll show them! We'll nail our Ice Punch!; [Thunder rumbles and lightning strikes. Rain starts falling, which Ash notices.]; [Buizel notices the rain, looking up to Ash, willing to carry on.]
Ash Ketchum: Hm. Let's go Hey, Clayton, the real battle is just getting started.
Clayton: (Nods) I had a feeling you'd say that, Ash-bui. I agree. So now we're battling fist to fist! OK! We're making the first move, Mr. Mime, and that's Thunder Punch!; [Mr. Mime prepares Thunder Punch and starts running.]
Ash Ketchum: Buizel, get going!; [Buizel runs toward the approaching target. Rain falls heavily. Buizel's speed increases drastically.]
Clayton: (Shocked) Where'd that incredible speed come from?!
Brock: Swift Swim. That's Buizel's ability. The rain increased Buizel's speed.
Ash Ketchum: Quick, Buizel, I want you to get as close as you can!; [As Buizel gets closer, he flashes back to his practice session with the leaves. Cut to Mr. Mime, glowing his electrically charged fist. Buizel has a twinkle in his eye, shared with Ash.]
Ash Ketchum: All right, Buizel, use Ice Punch!; [Buizel's fist glows an aura of a blue flame. As they both punch each other, Buizel ducks to dodge Thunder Punch, and executes the punch on Mr. Mime's chest. Everyone waits on in anticipation as thunder rumbles. It is revealed that Thunder Punch misfires and Ice Punch lands a direct hit. Mr. Mime's body freezes over, causing it to faint.]
Mr. Mime: (Stunned) Mime...
Ash Ketchum: (Jubilant) All right! (Laughs) Buizel, we did it!; [Ash and Buizel share a fist-bump.]
Ash's Buizel: Bui!; [Piplup and Pikachu cheer.]
Dawn: Buizel was totally amazing!
Brock: That was an impressive Ice Punch!
Ash's Buizel: (Happy) Bui-Bui!; [The storm clouds clear.]
Brock: A leaf?
Ash Ketchum: Yeah! I thought of it while we were training.
Brock: It was a great idea to focus Buizel's energy on a single point that constantly moved around. Buizel's concentration got sharper! And that's why Buizel was able to master Ice Punch in such a short time.
Clayton: Though there's more to it than that, bro-bree. Ash-bui used the sudden rain to their advantage, and then, they used Swift Swim, which increases Buizel's speed. Buizel defeated Mr. Mime because Buizel was faster. And that's just one reason why Pokémon battles are so extraordinary and thrilling!
Ash Ketchum: Clayton, thanks a lot.
Clayton: Ash-bui, you make me proud. I knew you both had it in you.
Ash's Buizel: Bui-Bui!
Clayton: But you still have a way to go. So make sure to continue your training all along your journey. Let's battle again! In short, le-bat-ag!
Ash Ketchum: Sure!
Ash's Pikachu: Pika-Pika!
Ash's Buizel: Bui!
Narrator: An unusual Pokémon martial artist has taught Ash and Buizel valuable lessons on skill and concentration. And now our heroes can concentrate on Daybreak Town and Dawn's next contest, as their journey continues.; [The caption "To Be Continued" shows at the bottom of the screen. The credits appear.]
