Brought to you by the letter "T" & the number 4

  • A couple of issues back, I introduced my T-shirt shop that features Phineas and Ferb t-shirts. I've sold a couple shirts since then, but not nearly as many as I had hoped. Starting on Tuesday, May 17, Spreadshirt is offering a 5 for the price of 4 deal. That means you get a free shirt when you buy 4 at regular price! This includes two new designs: Brick and Love Händel.
If you're in the US, enter MAY2011, or CADMAY2011 in Canada. Sorry, offer is only valid in these two countries. Remember, $2.00 from each WWPD shirt goes to help stop cyber-bullying.
  • Only four users have registered for the Community Message Board since the beginning of the month. These included JSevere and Alycia. While the blogs have calmed down a bit, we are still getting new blogs that would be better served on the board. Let's start chatting!

When The World Was Younger, Phineas and Ferb Still Rocked

Eternal Optimism is an amazing thing, so is music. The season one episode "Dude, We're Getting the Band Back Together" is a perfect example of this. This has to be one of my favorite episodes, next to the obvious "Phineas and Ferb: Summer Belongs to You!", "Rollercoaster: The Musical" and the first episode I ever saw, "I, Brobot".

The plot is relatively simple, it's Linda and Lawrence's anniversary and Lawrence has forgotten about it. As he is trying to figure out what to do he remembers that their first date was at a Love Händel concert. The Boys then take it upon themselves to bring Love Händel back together for a concert in the driveway.

Dude song

This leads to a musical adventure that is hard to forget, with catchy tunes such as the award winning Ain't Got Rhythm and the extremely catchy You Snuck Your Way Right Into My Heart. However, the music isn't the only thing that is enjoyable about this episode. The animation was top-notch and the story was plotted very well. This wonderful trip into the world of rock is topped off by the 30-second long song Music Makes Us Better and it does, it really does.

All in all I believe this to be a great episode; it is nearing perfection, not there, but close.

Score: 9.5/10 (I always grade things out of ten, so if you want consistency, that's an "A")

Ending haiku:

Anniversary
Is forgotten but music
Makes it all better

"LIVE" from Danville, it's Phineas and Ferb!

Phineas and Ferb Live promo

Phineas and Ferb are always looking for something new to do, and Disney has continually been looking for new ways to branch them out in order to, as TV Guide recently put it, "turn [the series]...into a major asset for the entire Disney empire." And given the series' musicality, which has already led to a hit soundtrack album and three Emmy Award nominations in the category, it's perhaps no surprise that the boys will be taking their talent to the stage starting this summer.

This week, Feld Entertainment, producers of the Ringling Bros.-Barnum and Bailey Circus as well as live stage productions based on Disney properties, announced a new touring live stage show entitled Disney's Phineas and Ferb: The Best LIVE Show Ever!, which will tour the United States from August to April. Although very little information on the show is available as of now, Feld promises to bring to life the antics of the tri-state area gang as they build their latest and greatest invention- and, of course, Agent P does his duty to stop Dr. Doofenshmirtz from using his. The show will feature special effects and choreography combined with the familiar characters, humor, and songs from the series.

Although I may be "a little old" to be interested in something like this, I'm actually curious to see as to how Feld will be able to bring the world of Phineas and Ferb to life on stage. Audiences nationwide will be able to find out for themselves starting this summer, and tickets are already available for preferred customers.

Agent P Spy Launcher

We are either a few short weeks from the premiere of Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension or it's still two months away. As Topher reported above, we've received word that the premiere may have been moved up to June 24, but we haven't seen any advertisements for it yet. When it does begin, it is going to be accompanied by some new toys.

One of those toys is an At2D-themed version of the toy you see to the right. This is the "Agent P Spy Launcher", which is currently available from Toys R Us for $10. This is definitely a toy that you need a lot of room to play with, both vertically and horizontally. The package says it can go over two stories high, and once it lands, it's going to spin around for a bit like a top, so it works best on smooth surfaces. If it get stuck on the roof, definitely ask your parent(s) to get it back for you. Or just go buy another one.

May 2011 calendar desktop

According to the 2011 "Where's Perry" calendar, May 20th marks the start of the "104 Daze of Summer!" Now, I know that some of you won't be getting out of school for a few days or weeks after that, but there's plenty of time for you to start planning on how to make each day of when you actually are out of school the best day ever. One of the ways you could do that is to pick up one of those calendars so you can track the days. The price of the calendar has been dropped dramatically.

Another important date is May 25th. Fans of Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy know that this is Towel Day, which is celebrated by carrying around "the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have". The Disney Store and Target each have some nice beach towels. I haven't bought either one of these yet, but I just checked and the local Target store has it in stock, so I will be stopping by in a couple of days to pick it up. I haven't been to the Disney Store in a while, so I may make a trip up there to see if they have that towel in the store.

In my next review, I should have a few more pieces of athletic equipment that really should have been available when the two skateboards went on sale.

A few months ago, we started displaying the birthdays for the cast and crew members on our main page. You can see them on the right-hand side just above the Featured pictures slideshow. Starting next month, we will add birthdays for the members of our community (that is, everyone who has an account on our wiki). Stop by the Community birthday list and add your birthday if you want to be included. If you aren't comfortable with including the day, then just list the month. Please do not include the year you were born. The month or the month and day is enough.
If you have an iPhone or an iPod Touch, DonnaxNL has written a web application that will let you browse our wiki on those devices. This operates a bit differently than a web browser like Safari. You can see more on his blog, and it looks like the link even works if you don't have an iPhone or iPod.

Another reminder that with summer vacation coming up, we'd love to see pictures from your trips, especially if you take a Phineas and Ferb toy or other item with you. I hope to be able to share some of mine shortly from an upcoming trip.

Coming in two weeks:
  • Hands-on with the new merchandise, part 26
  • Another Retro Review
  • Other articles to be determined (submissions wanted - send to RRabbit42 or use the Newsletter submissions page)
