Red Bones are a stronger sub-species of Dull Bones that appears in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and its upcoming 2024 remake. The one that appears in Hooktail Castle serves as the primary Mini-Boss of the level and is overall the third Mini-Boss of the game.
Summery[]
They act the same as others in the Bones family, except Red Bones can summon Dull Bones more often, and appear very few times throughout the game. They're the only ones with blue eyes. They only appear in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, where they are found in Hooktail Castle and a certain puzzle in the Palace of Shadow's Riddle Tower.
Strategy[]
Tho stronger then normal Dull Bones, Red Bones are fairly straightforward as they basically use the same attacks that the Dull Bones use, but stronger, the Player should have Koops out as his Power Shell can take out all the Dull Bones in one hit and leave Red Bones out for attacks, tho Players should be cautious as Red Bones can sometimes create new Dull Bones, additionally if Red Bones is defeat, it can reform itself after a few turns should one of the Dull Bones in the battle still be active. Another easy strategy to take it out is with a Fire Flower, as it can take out both the four Dull Bones and the Red Bones in one hit.
Trivia[]
- Red Bones was originally going to be called "Red Koopa Skeleton", but that name was replaced.
- Even if the Player does not tattle the Red Bones in Hooktail's Castle, their tattle log can be found in Frankly's garbage, even though the Player still fights the Red Bones in the Palace of Shadow.
