If you were to tell Groucho that he was kind of an imposing figure, he'd be surprised. For some reason, he doesn't see why anyone would be scared of a surly bear with a big scar on his head. Go figure.

181 Groucho is a Series 3 Animal Crossing-e Character Card. It can be scanned in Animal Crossing at the e-Reader Transfer Machine in the post office to receive a letter and gift from Groucho, or on the Game Boy Advance by itself to display a different letter. The password on the card can also be sent in a letter to receive a letter and gift.

Scanning in Animal Crossing[edit]

Scanning this card at the e-Reader Transfer Machine in the post office causes Groucho to immediately send the player a letter that contains a samurai suit. The letter reads:

To you. <player>.
Granted, I may not be the
most approachable bear in
the whole wide world, but
it's not like I EAT people.
So why doesn't anyone offer
to run errands for me?

Explain. ćƒ¼Groucho

Mailing the password[edit]

Typing the password printed on the card into a letter and mailing it to any villager causes Groucho to send the player a letter that contains a green golf bag after two more days of playing. The letter reads:

My pal <player>,
Hey, <player>. Once
you make up your own
mind, don't pay any heed
to what others say. Just be
your own animal.

Groucho's the man!

If the player mails the password to Groucho specifically, there is a 60% chance they will instead send them a different letter with one of eight NES games: Balloon Fight, Clu Clu Land, DK Jr MATH, Donkey Kong, Excitebike, Golf, Pinball, or Tennis.

Scanning on the Game Boy Advance[edit]

Scanning this card while the Game Boy Advance is not connected to Animal Crossing displays the following message from Groucho:

For your information,
these marks on my
head are scars, not
a weird fur dye-job!
How did I get them?
Well, what a rude
question. I simply
won't answer it!
...Did I scratch my
own head with my
claws? Ridiculous!
Don't be stupid!
