«Trei culori» var Romanias nasjonalsang i siste del av kommunisttida, fra 1977 til og med 1989. I første del av kommunisttida ble sangene «Zdrobite cătușe» (1948–1953) og «Te slăvim, Românie» (1953–1977) brukt. Etter kommunisttida ble «Deșteaptă-te, române» den nye nasjonalsangen.
«Trei culori» bygger på en rumensk patriotisk sang med samme tittel, melodi og til dels tekst, som er laget av Ciprian Porumbescu. Denne teksten ble endret to ganger av ukjente for å tilpasse den til den kommunistiske ideologien.
Navnet på sangen viser til Romanias flagg, som ikke har endret seg stort gjennom tidene.
