Ice is one of the 18 Pokémon types. Ice type Pokémon can generate intense cold from their bodies and thrive in frigid temperatures without suffering from hypothermia. Many Ice type Pokémon are based on creatures found in arctic or polar regions.
58 Pokémon are Ice-type, making it the least common type among Pokémon.

Jynx |
An ice witch Pokémon based on Yama-uba or Yamanba. Jynx live deep in the mountains where they wash their hair in icy streams and chant in a mysterious language that can only be understood by other Jynx. When it wiggles its hips, people and Pokémon nearby are enchanted into dancing uncontrollably. Jynx's design and humanoid appearance has been criticized by the Western media, including cultural critic Carole Boston Weatherford, who described Jynx as representing blackface after seeing the character's depiction in the anime. Due to complaints, Game Freak modified its appearance by changing the original color of its face from black to the current color, purple. | |
