“But when it comes down to it, both Rigelians and Zofians are the same, aren't they? We are all people of Valentia. Even if these divisions of country no longer existed, we should all still be able to live together in happiness.”
Meaning: Cellica) (real name Anthiese(JPJapanese: アンテーサ
Romaji: Antēsa
Meaning: Antesa)) is one of the main protagonists of Fire Emblem Gaiden and Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. She is the Princess of Zofia also the childhood friend of Alm and was raised with him by Mycen before she was safekept by Nomah at the Novis Monastery. Princess Anthiese was born as one of the numerous children of King Lima IV, her mother was one of the king's numerous wives, Liprica. She alongside her half brother, Conrad, are the only two children who survived the extermination of the Zofian royal family ploted by Desaix.
Celica was born as Princess Antheise Lima of Zofia to King Lima IV and one of his wives Liprica, who died shortly after Celica's birth. She bore Mila's brand on her right palm. She became close with her half-brother, Conrad, when she was young. Ten years prior to the events of Gaiden/Shadows of Valentia, the villa housing the numerous wives and consorts of Lima IV was set ablaze by Desaix to investigate a coup. Mycen managed to locate Princess Antheise and rescue her, where he takes her to Ram Village, giving her the name Celica to keep her hidden from Desaix and his group. Because Mycen could not locate Conrad, Celica was believed to have been the sole survivor. When living in Ram Village, she becomes close to Mycen's grandson, Alm, who had a similar mark to hers on his palm. While living in the village, she also became friends with Tobin, Gray, Kliff, and Faye. Mycen taught her and other children in the village swordplay to defend themselves.
One of Desaix's allies, Slayde, came to Ram Village during the prologue of Shadows of Valentia and discovers Antheise, recognizing her from her Brand. Mycen fights Slayde off, though is forced to take Celica away since Desaix would know of her location if she were to stay. She was brought to the Priory, a monastery on the island of Novis, where she was raised by Nomah. At the monastery, she becomes close with Mae, Boey, and Genny.
After she dreams of Alm's death, Celica leaves the monastery with her three friends to investigate the crop failures that have been occurring for years, as she believes that Mila is related to the issue. At Novis Harbor, she hires a mercenary named Saber to protect her and her group on their journey to Mila's Temple.
Celica is forced to fight off many pirate ships on her way to the Valentian coast. She eventually defeats Barth, the leader of the pirates, and recruits Valbar and his men, Leon and Kamui.
After finally reaching Valentia, Celica arrives at Zofia Castle once she hears about the Deliverance and its leader, Alm. She enters the castle to find the Deliverance celebrating Desaix's departure, as well as Mycen, whom she tells about her journey to Mila's Temple. Mycen tells her that someone she may be interested in is upstairs, where Celica runs to the balcony to find Alm. While overjoyed by their long-awaited reunion, they get into an argument where Celica claims that Emperor Rudolf of Rigel is not evil, wanting to end the war in a peaceful resolve. Alm argues that he and the Deliverance should invade Rigel to drive back invasions. Celica accuses Alm of vying for the throne, where Alm, insulted, says he only wishes to protect Zofia, where he would return to Ram alongside her if the missing princess of Zofia were to take his place. Celica denies the existence of the missing Zofian princess, leaving Alm on a bitter note as she returns to her journey.
After leaving the castle, Celica and her group are ambushed by men claiming to be followers of Duma. As they attempt to kidnap her, a mysterious masked knight appears before her and helps her drive off the men. Celica thanks the masked knight and asks for his name, but he tells her that he cannot reveal his identity and leaves. Later, she discovers the masked knight near a mountain path, who warns her to take a path towards eastern Zofia. She ignores his warning and chooses to go through a mountain path, getting caught in a landslide. She is saved thanks to the masked knight's intervention, though is cut off from the other side, preventing her from reuniting with Alm once again.
Her party begins to journey north again, making a detour when they encounter the Pegasus Sisters, Palla and Catria, fighting off Grieth, who was trying to capture Est. Celica and her forces end Grieth and recruit Atlas, Jesse, and either Sonya or Deen.
At Grieth's fort, Celica's army finds Irma, a priestess of Mila, held captive. Irma immediately recognizes Celica as Princess Antheise, as she bears a resemblance to Liprica, where she reveals Liprica's past as one of Lima IV's numerous wives who was discovered by Lima IV after coming to Mila's Temple, where he vowed to marry her on-spot, and was forced to become one of his wives and died shortly after Antheise's birth. Irma gives Celica Liprica's circlet. In Gaiden, Celica's class would change to Princess, though the event does not occur in Shadows of Valentia.
Personality[]
Celica is portrayed as caring and gentle towards her loved ones, but has emotional issues due to experiencing traumatic events and often tends to isolate herself as a result of this. She believes in negotiating peace without fights and will put her life on the line to prove it. Celica also loves to read books and study.
Celica was introduced in the Rite of Shadows update, then made available on May 15, 2017 while keeping her Echoes: Shadows of Valentia incarnation.

A hero from the world of Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, in which she is the only known survivor of the Zofian royal family. Escaping the evil Desaix's attempts on her life, she took refuge in a priory. As such, she upholds the teachings of Mila, the Earth Mother, and despises war. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Celica and Alm appear in two separate Spirits. One depicts them as children, as seen in the prologue. If that Spirit is evolved, it becomes a new Sprit that depicts them as adults, as seen in the rest of the game.
Celica is ambidextrous, as she is seen to hold her sword in both her right and left hand.
Celica, Claude, and Edelgard are the only Lord characters in the Fire Emblem series to not feature the color blue either in their hair or their clothes.
Celica is derived from the Latin word coelica, meaning "heavenly" or "celestial".
Her real name, Anthiese, is derived from ancient Greek word "ἄνθος" (ánthos) which means “flower”.
Celica's last name, Lima, is simply an anagram of "Mila", which means "file", as in the tool, in Latin.
