This page is a list of episodes in the twelfth season of SpongeBob SquarePants, which was announced on May 5, 2017. Vincent Waller confirmed that it would consist of 26 episodes.
On June 21, 2017, Lori Alan confirmed on Instagram that voice-recording for season 12 had started, and shared a photo showing three words from an untitled season 12 episode script.
On August 18, 2017, Vincent Waller confirmed on Twitter that the first script of season 12 is finished, and shared a photo of the script, revealing Kaz as a writer of the episode. The title was hidden with Xs. It later turned out to be "Plankton's Old Chum".
"FarmerBob", the first episode produced and aired in this season, was the only one to premiere during Stephen Hillenburg's lifetime.
This was the last season of the show to have Stephen Hillenburg's involvement.
It is currently the second-longest running season of the show, beginning in 2018 and currently airing as of 2022. The episode "Kwarantined Krab" was pulled from airing due to its plot being too similar to the COVID-19 Pandemic, and was also left out of the season's DVD set.[1] Nickelodeon later told the IGN website that it decided not to air the episode in the United States or other territories where it has not yet aired over "sensitivities surrounding the global, real-world pandemic."[2] Vincent Waller has stated that the episode is not permanently shelved but is on hold until the pandemic is no longer a concern.[3][4]

Notes[]
- ↑ The original version of "SpongeBob in RandomLand" features an image of Squidward with wide, bloodshot eyes, referencing a creepypasta known as "Squidward's Suicide" or "Red Mist." This scene was included in U.S. airings from September to November 2019, but it was later pulled and replaced with baby Squidward filling up his diaper. International airings retain the scene.[6]
- ↑ The coincidental timing of the episode with the COVID-19 pandemic led Nickelodeon to delay its release in the United States, with the network later stating it would not distribute the episode, though it had already aired in some territories.[7][8]
