This is a list of episodes in the ninth season of SpongeBob SquarePants.
This season marks the show's transition to HD (high definition) by now having all episodes produced in a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9. Prior to this season, only two episodes had been produced in widescreen - "Truth or Square" in Season 6, and "It's a SpongeBob Christmas!" in the previous season. This season also included the show's 200th episode, which was "Goodbye Krabby Patty?".
The season began on July 21, 2012 with the episode "Extreme Spots" and ended on February 20, 2017 with the episode "Goodbye Krabby Patty?".
Notably, it is the longest-running season of the show, spanning over the course of over five years, which also makes it the longest-running season of any Nicktoon (or any American cartoon, for that matter). The biggest reason for this is because the season halted production midway through (between "SpongeBob You're Fired" and "Lost in Bikini Bottom") to complete production on The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. As a result, the following season, which was originally intended to premiere in 2014, was delayed to 2016 (resulting in The Fairly OddParents reaching 10 seasons first).
