“ | I hope you see the importance of evidence now. Also, hopefully you realize, things change depending on how you look at them. People, too. We never really know if our clients are guilty or innocent. All we can do is believe in them. And in order to believe in them, you have to believe in yourself. | „ |
~ Mia's philosophy about being a defense attorney. |
Mia Fey is one of two overarching protagonists of the Ace Attorney franchise.
She is Phoenix Wright's deceased mentor that continued to help him after her death through her little sister, Maya Fey and her cousin, Pearl Fey using spirit channeling. She would also pass down a philosophy to Phoenix of "always believe in your clients no matter what" and she would pass down Godot's philosophy of "A lawyer only cries when it's all over", which Phoenix would then pass on to his own protégés, Apollo Justice and Athena Cykes, continuing Mia's legacy long after her death.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
In General/Background[]
- In the past, she worked towards becoming a defense attorney after hearing about her mother disappearing so that she could catch the culprit behind her disappearance so she could bring them to justice.
- During her first case, she defended a death row inmate named Terry Fawles despite how no one believed in his innocence and almost succeeded in defeating Dahlia Hawthorne, only failing because Dahlia manipulated Terry into killing himself.
- After Diego Armando gave her encouragement after feeling like she was responsible for Fawles killing himself, the two investigated Dahlia further and almost defeated her yet again, but Dahlia ended up poisoning Diego and sending him into a coma, causing Mia to become even more determined to stop her.
- Defended Phoenix Wright when he was accused of the murder of Doug Swallow, finally proving Dahlia guilty in the process and getting her sent to death row.
- This act would also inspire Phoenix to finally become a defense attorney himself, eventually leading to Mia taking him in her law firm and mentoring him.
- Collected as much information as she could on Redd White so she could finally expose him as a blackmailer that drove people to suicide.
- Despite the very high admirable standard, she stands out by mentoring Phoenix into what he is, the high amount of lives saved by her defeating White and her influence throughout the series.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney[]
- She assists Phoenix in his first trial, helping him prove the guilt of Frank Sahwit and the innocence of his friend, Larry Butz.
- After being channelled by Maya, she gave Phoenix a hint that helped him in the trial against White and when it ended up not working, she came in to definitively prove White's guilt by blackmailing him with a list of the people he blackmailed, threatening to release the list to the press if he doesn't confess, finally defeating him and ending his blackmailing scheme.
- After Phoenix Wright was cleared of murdering her, she gave him the ownership of her law firm and requested Maya to assist him.
- Assists Phoenix in the murder of Jack Hammer by helping him get evidence, helping him questioning Cody Hackins and giving him tips about what to do in the trials.
- She helped Phoenix explain what happened with a missing bullet in the second trial of Miles Edgeworth, which leads to exonerating Miles Edgeworth and exposing Manfred Von Karma as Gregory Edgeworth's killer and the instigator of Robert Hammond's murder.
Ace Attorney: Justice For All[]
- Assists Phoenix in proving Maya's innocence in Turner Grey's murder.
- Gives Phoenix an idea on how to save both Maya and Adrian's lives after he is faced with a moral dilemma, either by forcing Matt Engarde to wish for a guilty verdict, or convincing De Killer to end his contract, which ends up working and both Maya and Adrian's lives are saved.
Ace Attorney: Trials & Tribulations[]
- Helps Phoenix prove Ron DeLite's innocence after Godot attempted to end the trial by convincing Godot to give Phoenix one last chance, ending with Ron's innocence being proven and Luke Atmey being found guilty.
- Helps Phoenix get important information from Victor Kudo after he was tight lipped by seducing him.
- Gives Maya instructions on how to survive after Dahlia attempted to murder her, telling her to channel Dahlia and placing a trick lock on the door to prevent anyone from trying to get to her.
- Banishes Dahlia from Maya's body after calling her out for being a weak and pathetic human being that could never win at anything.
- She thanks Phoenix for releasing Godot from his suffering and considers him her worthy successor before finally departing to the afterlife.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]
- While most of the time, she can be very kind, patient and helpful when she mentors Phoenix, she can be a jerk at times, with her basically calling Phoenix an incompetent lawyer by telling Maya not to go to him unless she wants to be found guilty.
