“ I was one of the orphans selected by Sister Sumire... Since the beginning till the very end, I can't remember a time where I strayed from the path of righteousness! I am a disciple of Adolla! I pray for the despair of humanity! Bring your hands to your chest and listen to me!! You must be aware of death!! Until the very end!! There is despair in everything we set out to do!! Don't get mad at me!! I'm right behind you, guiding you!! It's gonna be okay!! „
~ Rekka's doppelganger talking about his delusional ideology.

Rekka Hoshimiya is a major antagonist of Fire Force. He originally presented himself as a lieutenant of Special Fire Force Company 1 and a priest working at the Holy Sol Temple, but he later turned out to be an agent of the White-Clad, turning people into artificial Infernals and finding sources of the Adolla Burst.

In the Japanese version of the anime, he is voiced by Tomokazu Seki. In the English dub of said anime, he is voiced by Kellen Goff, who also voiced Funtime Freddy and Kai Chisaki.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He originally presented himself as an officer for the Special Fire Force, but in reality he was working with the White-Clad cult to turn the world into a second sun.
  • He turned lots of innocent people into Infernals in a trial-by-error attempt to find the next host of the Pilot's Light, and captured and tortured lots of children in doing so.
  • Under his facade, Rekka charmed Tamaki Kotatsu into admiring him, manipulating her into bringing him children which he would later experiment on. Rekka intended to frame Tamaki for his own crimes should he be found out.
  • He later hugged Tamaki so hard she lost consciousness, so he could inject a mother with a Bug to kill her and did the same to her son Nataku Son, whom he found to be the right candidate for the Adolla Burst.
  • When Tamaki woke up, she realized Rekka's true colors and confronted him, and he mercilessly beat her in response, in front of his child prisoners. He was intent on beating Tamaki to death had Shinra Kusakabe not saved her.
  • During Shinra and Rekka's fight, the latter boasted about his passion towards the children he experimented on. When Shinra told him to stop, Rekka talked about how he desired to worship the Sun God and turn the Earth into a second sun.
  • When Tamaki tried to rescue the children, Rekka attempted to destroy the building to kill Tamaki, Shinra and all of the children to hide their deaths as an accident.
  • Rekka was killed by Arrow to stop him from revealing the truth, but his actions left a huge impact on Company 1, causing Karim to join Company 8 to find out more about his traitorous friend, while Onyango came out of retirement to take over Rekka's original job.
  • Nataku Son was severely traumatized by Rekka, hallucinating the cultist telling him to unleash his power, to the point where he went on a rampage. With the help of Kurono, Nataku managed to recover from his trauma.
  • Later, Rekka's doppelganger was an exact duplicate of his original self with the same personality due to his dedication to his goal in life. He wanted to pray for humanity's despair and tried to encourage his teammates to embrace their fate. While his wording may seem encouraging, Rekka also did this to Nataku in order to make him use his fire (and that traumatized him), so Rekka's encouragement is ultimately so he can achieve his own goals.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • His crimes, while despicable on their own, are not unique compared to the other high-ranking members of the White-Clad with similar resources, with some members doing worse such as Haumea destroying the Kusakabe family and Inca Kasugatani burning her friend Panda to death and being willing to put countless lives at risk due to her thrill-seeking habits. Even the Captain of the Holy Sol's Shadow has committed much more depraved crimes in comparison to Rekka.

Trivia[]

  • He, along with Setsuo Miyamoto, are the only Near Pure Evils in Fire Force.
