Get over yourself. Help me? I'm the real Ada Wong. I don't need help from anyone! My plans aren't failing, they're thriving!
~ Carla Radames to the real Ada Wong.
Carla: Still haven't had enough, huh? Even after losing all your menAGAIN?
(Chris beings to become more incensed)
Carla: With your track record I gotta say, I'd hate to be a member of your team, Chris!
(Becoming even angrier, Chris advances onto Carla but is stopped by Piers)
Piers: Don't listen to her, Captain.
Carla: But where are my manners? I mean, really, I should be "thanking" your men, for being such good test subjects.
(Enraged, Chris fires the gun out of Carla's hand. Carla only gives a smug smirk while calmly shaking her hand to ease the pain.)
~ Carla mocking Chris for his loss over his teammates.
Chris: Ever since Edonia, all I want is to see you dead. It's not about vengeance. It's about justice. It's over, Ada!
Carla: You're right. It is. The aircraft carrier prepares to launch.
Chris: ... Launch!?
Carla: And the dead will flood the street. Deja vu, boys. Racoon revisted. But this time, it won't just be one city. It'll be the whole world!
~ Carla revealed her plan to Chris and Piers.

Carla Radames is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Derek C. Simmons) of Resident Evil 6.

She served as the main antagonist of Chris and Ada’s campaigns and the secondary antagonist of Leon and Jake’s campaigns. She is also the overarching antagonist of the manga Resident Evil: The Marhawa Desire.

She was originally a genius researcher who became a doppelganger of Ada Wong upon working for Derek C. Simmons and is also the one responsible for the discovery and creation of the C-Virus. She is also the founder and leader of an Umbrella Corporation-type terrorist organization called Neo-Umbrella. She's one of the arch-enemies of Ada (alongside Simmons).

She was voiced by Courtenay Taylor, who also voiced Ada in the same game.

Her Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • A highly talented intellectual, finishing a doctorate at only fifteen years old, Carla’s gifted mind piqued the interest of Derek C. Simmons, a senior American civil servant and head of The Family, with Radames eventually working closely with Simmons and The Family in the development of viral agents, quickly becoming highly influential in B.O.W. research.
  • Infatuated with him, in order to impress Simmons, Radames acquired a sample of the t-Veronica Virus and began experimenting with it in hopes of making a "perfect virus". By removing the genetic code of the virus and combining it with the Progenitor virus, she developed the “T-02", which when combined with the G-Virus would create the the “Chrysalid” or C-Virus, an extremely dangerous viral body that could induce violent and power mutations and retain degrees of intelligence within hosts.
  • After becoming infatuated with his former agent Ada Wong, Simmons began Project Ada, a series of experiments with the purpose of creating his own Ada Wong, of which Radames was the principal researcher and supervisor, having grown to love Simmons, using the newly created C-Virus to make Simmons’ wishes come true and create a perfect life form for him, willingly experimenting on the thousands of women Simmons would kidnap.
  • She would attempt the experiments thousands of times, resulting in mutating test subjects into horrific monstrosities and creating dangerous B.O.W.s such as the Lepotica and the Gnezdo.
  • She met no success until the 12,235th attempt when she was convinced into becoming a test subject by Simmons, who used her feelings for him to his advantage. Due to her genetic structure, Radames' body was successfully reborn in the perfect image of Ada Wong, with her mind molded by Simmons to mirror Ada Wong, with Radames ceasing to exist and becoming known to herself and Simmons as Ada Wong. However fragments of her true-self lingered in her confused mind, nagging away at her that Simmons betrayed her and deserved to have his hopes and dreams crushed before his eyes despite gifting her control over The Family’s East Asia region and a Submarine Base. Radames’ true persona would resurface, with her angry at what he did to her, setting out to undo everything he believed in and thus beginning her descent into evil.
  • She secretly founded the organization known as Neo-Umbrella, operating in China where she had developed the C-Virus, scouring areas such as Poisowan for test subjects under the guise of testing a new medicine, for the sole goal of destroying the world just to get revenge on Simmons and spite his delusional dedication in maintaining global stability.
  • Her resources in China went into many Bioweaponry projects, including projects that eventually led to the production of such B.O.W.s as the Iluzija and the Ubistvo, as well as extremely dangerous and fearsome B.O.W.s such as Napads, Mesec, Strelac, and Gnezdo, all of which would infect and kill countless innocents.
  • After 322 failed attempts, she administered the C-Virus into a test subject, who lost his right arm during a lab accident; however he showed a successful reaction to the Virus, with the capability of crafting its own weapons for the purpose of grabbing and killing enemies, eventually being given a mechanical arm with dangerous attachments and the name “Ustanak”, created as a spiritual successor to the Nemesis T-Type. Being the only person capable of giving him orders, Radames would direct Ustanak to hunt down her enemies, being responsible for all of the danger and destruction Ustanak would cause.
    • Ustanak first appeared in Edonia, ordered to hunt down mercenary Jake Muller and U.S. agent Sherry Birkin, pursuing the two into an abandoned Warehouse where it was crushed under falling rubble. However, it recovered and pursued the two whilst they were travelling in a BSAA helicopter, crashing the helicopter onto a snow-covered mountain. He continued hunting Jake and Sherry, using Oko B.O.W.s to locate them whilst they were navigating through ice caverns, however they managed to evade him. After several narrow escapes, Ustanak managed to trap them, however they incapacitated him with a giant mining drill, which wouldn’t last for long as he continued to ambush them when they were distracted by a J'avo squad led by Radames. Ustanak knocked Sherry unconscious and pinned down Jake, preventing him from escaping while Radamas conversed with Jake. As the J'avo captured them, he stomped on Jake's face, rendering him unconscious. Jake and Sherry were then taken to a Research Facility in China by Neo-Umbrella, however after escaping Ustanak would find them again, this time in the company of government agents Leon S. Kennedy and Helena Harper. Ustanak faced off against the four, however, they managed to fend him off. The battle ended when an electric pylon toppled onto him, allowing the four to go their separate ways. However, he survived the blow and retreated. Jake and Sherry were eventually re-captured by J'avo working for Radames, taken to Neo-Umbrella's underwater facility, with Ustanak sent to the facility to ensure they didn't escape again. When the two were about to escape, he appeared again, determined to exact revenge for its previous defeat. Although Jake succeeded in tearing off his arm, Ustanak kicked Sherry onto a platform, causing her to lose her weapons. Determined to finish off Jake, Ustanak trapped him on a narrow gantry kicking his gun into lava, forcing him to engage in hand-to-hand combat, however, Jake's abilities enabled him to counter his blows and sent Ustanak into lava. Believing he was finally dead, the two attempted to leave using a cargo platform. However, still alive and badly burnt, Ustanak would make a final attempt to kill them by jumping aboard the platform. After destroying a crate of weapons and about to deliver the final blow, Jake and Sherry would use a magnum lying on the ground, shooting Ustanak's exposed heart. He collapsed from his wounds, falling off the platform completely incinerated by the inferno.
  • Radames’s primary objective whilst in charge of Neo-Umbrella was the production of a B.O.W. known as the ultimate bio-weapon: HAOS; a massive behemoth requiring the entire Seabed Underwater Facility, of which she funded by syphoning funds from The family, to support its production, with the plan of unleashing HAOS to spread the C-Virus across the world in a gaseous form.
  • During HAOS’ development, Radames put in a contingency plan into place where if she ever was killed, HAOS would be released anyway regardless of its stage and development, with the intention of it spreading the virus across the globe before its imperfections took effect.
  • The Marhawa Incident was a series of cannibalistic homicides that occurred at the exclusive Marhawa School, a Christian Academy isolated in Asia, instigated by students Bindi Bergara and Nanan Yoshihara who infected a number of students and staff with the C-Virus causing a mass outbreak, where the entire population of the boarding school including staff and students were infected, caused by Radames just to test out the C-Virus and accumulate research data, of whom would not only instigate the Incident but worsen it by supplying Bindi with samples of the C-Virus and provoking her into causing chaos and destruction.
    • Wanting to test out the C-Virus as a bio-weapon, Radames travelled to the Marhawa School, sneaking into the school's infirmary and found a pair of students: Bindi Bergara and her deceased friend Nanan Yoshihara. She gave Bindi a vial of the C-Virus, claiming it will help her exact revenge on the people in Marhawa that caused Nanan's death, which would lead Bindi to inject the virus into Nanan, transforming him into a Lepotica. Radames then contacted her agents via her cube phone informing them that her plans had succeeded. Within the following weeks, Nanan spread the C-Virus across the entire school, infecting nearly all students and staff into zombies. While Radames let the BSAA handle the zombies and Bindi, she went off to find an escape route, only to be attacked by Nanan. Radames quickly escaped using her grapple gun. Later she entered the underground control room Chris Redfield and Ricky Tozawa had engaged Nanan in combat. Ricky, knowing from Bindi that Radames was responsible for the outbreak, attacked Radames, only for her to try to inject him with the Virus, however she was thwarted by Nanan’s attack, forcing her to retreat. Bindi put on a facade of being shocked and scared by the outbreak as she joined a group of other survivors, killing the infected with a crossbow while secretly keeping an eye on Nanan when she could. Despite her facade, Bindi's true nature was suspected by Chris Redfield, Piers Nivans and Merah Biji, a group of BSAA agents sent to investigate and contain the outbreak. Admitting her hand in perpetrating the chaos, Bindi would mutate into a monstrous form with a massive, grotesque left arm. She proceeded to rampage through the academy, killing everyone in her path before confronting Biji in the school's cathedral, however Biji would manage to injure her and slice off her mutated arm. Unable to withstand Biji’s assault, Bindi unleashed the full power of the C-Virus, transforming into a massive, spider-like abomination. Nivans intervened, ramming a vehicle into her. Noticing she was still moving, Piers detonated the explosives within the vehicle, seemingly killing Bindi. Shortly after, Radames came upon Bindi’s body, taunting her causing Bindi to fill with anger and spring into action. Bindi pursued the remaining survivors, Ricky and the three BSAA Agents who were trying to escape by helicopter. Despite fighting fiercely, Bindi collapsed from her wounds, though managing to fatally wound Biji, succumbing to her injuries. Eventually, Radames left the Academy alive without notice by the BSAA operators, having her agents collect the remaining sample of Nanan for future experiments, now with ample data in order to refine the C-Virus in preparation for her future plans.
  • Under Simmons’ orders, Radames travelled to Edonia tasked to confirm if the DNA of mercenary Jake Muller contains the antibodies for the C-Virus, however instead Radames had very different plans for the son of Albert Wesker. Radames confronted the Edonian Liberation Army, circulating “Energy Boosters” amongst them. However the “Boosters” secretly contained the C-Virus, causing all of the Army Soldiers to painfully transform into J’avo, dangerous mutants that retain their intelligence, can utilise weapons and firearms, work in packs, and mutate their body upon damage.
  • Because she had infected the entire Army into J’avo, Radames is responsible for Edonia breaking out into a destructive all-out war, ambushing BSAA Operators Chris Redfield, Piers Nivans, Finn Macauley, along with others and Jake Muller and Sherry Birkin with B.O.W.s such as the massive Ogroman.
  • Upon finding out that the Virus didn’t affect Jake, and realising he carried the antibodies to the Virus, Radames set out to capture Jake by ordering her loyal B.O.W. Ustanak to capture him.
  • Radames was eventually found by BSAA operators Chris Redfield, Piers Nivans, and Finn Macauley, where she pretended to be Ada Wong, lying that she was an employee at the city hall and that the Edonian Liberation Army had held her hostage there, whilst revealing that Neo-Umbrella had been funding the Army.
  • After finding an exit, Radames broke off from the group, springing a trap imprisoning Finn and other BSAA Operators, while Chris and Piers remained barred from the other side. Through the gate behind them, Radames appeared and bid her farewell to the BSAA, thanking them for the escort before proceeding to toss a metallic sphere through the gate as “Something to remember me by”, hatching into a needle bomb that exploded, dispersing needles filled with the C-Virus in all directions. The four operators trapped inside were infected while Chris and Piers were forced to watch them mutate, with Radames escaping.
    • Because she had caused the deaths of his comrades, Radames indirectly caused Chris to develop PTSD, turning him into a drunk and depressed man whose mental pain would take a long time to heal, being responsible for Chris becoming angrier, stricter, and reckless in his later missions.
  • After making her getaway, Radames arrived at the rendezvous point set up for US agent Sherry Birkin where Ustanak and a group of J'avo managed to subdue the agent and Jake, of whom she would confront personally, mocking him as "Wesker Junior." She explained briefly to the confused Jake about his infamous father, telling him that he had inherited special blood from him, before signalling Ustanak to knock him out, taking both him and Sherry into custody, while reporting them both as M.I.A. and likely dead to Simmons to ensure no one would come looking for them.
  • She made contact with Ada Wong under the guise of Simmons, luring her to a large submarine stationed in the northern Atlantic Ocean that had been given to Radames by Simmons, informing Ada that there was information on board that may interest her, with the base set to read and respond to Ada's fingerprints and voice recognition, giving her easy access, with the intent of killing her.
  • Later she’d contact Ada again as Simmons, informing her of an impending bioterror attack on an unsuspecting town in America called Tall Oaks, followed by attacks in China, and then all around the globe, and that the attacks were being orchestrated by the leader of Neo-Umbrella, with its leader being none other than Ada Wong.
  • After Ada figures out that the Simmons who contacted her wasn’t the real Simmons, and that Radames would wish to destroy the world in spite of Simmons’ goals of global stability, Radames replies that the world would end up blaming the real Ada Wong before cutting off contact with her.
  • For six months in Neo-Umbrella’s Medical Facility disguised as a luxurious mansion in China, Radames would experiment on Jake and Sherry, eventually using Jake’s blood to create an enhanced strain of the C-Virus, which would eliminate the need for Chrysalid Cocoons and allow an individual to transform instantly into multiple forms without risking cellular damage, which she planned to administer to Simmons to get her revenge. Though Jake and Sherry managed to escape, they met extreme danger from J’avo and the Ubistvo.
  • Radames would instigate the Lanshiang Bioterror Incident in order to enact her goals of world destruction, causing mass destruction, infections, and chaos.
    • As Poisawan, a small town in the province of Lanshiang in China, deteriorated into poverty, Radames approached a number of young men in Poisawan, offering money in exchange for drug testing. With the money being enough to live on for a year without work, many agreed to drug testing, however this was a cover for Neo-Umbrella, who intended to create a spontaneous army of J'avo by disguising their C-Virus infection procedure. Radames would arm the J’avo with firearms and weapons and let them loose, with them spreading out from Poisawan to the rest of Waiyip, a city located in Lanshiang. As the BSAA deployed into Poisawan, the slum was taken over by Iluzija, a massive snake-like B.O.W. capable of secreting a liquid over it’s body that bends the light around it making it nearly impossible to see, killing numerous BSAA Operators. Running alongside the attack in Tall Oaks, Neo-Umbrella launched their attack in Lanshiang. Neo-Umbrella's army attacked the Yuenmon Port and massacred the crew of its warships, using special Neo-Umbrella J’avo, mutants reinforced with insect-like helmets and body armour able to wield combat arsenals and pilot vehicles, who would obediently follow Radames’ orders. Radames’ army of J’avo began their attack on Waiyip, reinforced by military vehicles stolen from the warships. The BSAA launched a major operation in China, deploying forces from as far as North America, though despite their large forces they suffered mass casualties in the fighting, owing to the power of the J'avo. The North American "Alpha Team" worked with "Bravo Team'' to free UN workers taken hostage in a tenement building, however almost the entirety of the former squad was eradicated by the Iluzija. Neo-Umbrella’s forces would continue to wreak havoc across Lanshiang. Radames’ Plan D would result in a missile carrying the C-Virus being launched, unleashing the C-Virus across Lanshiang, sowing chaos and destruction as nearly the entire population of Lanshiang became infected with the virus. The death of Radames would also awaken HAOS, nearly enacting her goals of unleashing the C-Virus across the world, however fortunately HAOS would be destroyed and all of her plans to destroy the world would be finished once and for all.
  • Radames would come into Chris and Piers a second time, this time accompanied by BSAA Bravo Team leader Marco Rose, after the three managed to kill the Iluzija. Before they noticed her, Radames infected Marco with a syringe containing the C-Virus propelled from a needle gun. Giving them a cruel welcome to the country, Radames made her escape, leaving the two survivors to deal with their comrade as he hatched from his chrysalid state as a Gnezdo.
  • As she was pursued throughout China by Chris and Piers, she briefly came across DSO agent Leon S. Kennedy and USSS agent Helena Harper, who believed her to be the real Ada Wong. As the pair caught up with Radames, arguing over whether to kill her or take her into custody, Radames uses a Flash Grenade to escape from the four.
  • Radames would engage in a cat-and-mouse game with Chris and Piers as they pursued her, leading the two into a dangerous chase as she attempted to escape in a red convertible.
  • Simmons himself and his Family entourage travelled to China intent on regaining control. When meeting up with Sherry and Jake at a rendezvous point, he is confronted by Leon and Helena. After admitting his involvement in the Bioterrorism Attacks, Simmons orders Family personnel to kill them. However Simmons is infected with the Enhanced C-Virus by a stray J’avo, on the orders of Radames.
  • Lured by Radames, Chris and Piers would meet extreme danger and near-death on the aircraft carrier stationing Neo-Umbrella J’avo, managing to escape from the two once again.
  • After learning Simmons was infected with the Virus, Radames would call Simmons, sadistically gloating of what she had done before briefly informing him of her plans to destroy the world and everything he and The Family had worked to maintain.
  • Finishing the call, Radames is confronted by Chris and Piers, where she would sadistically taunt Chris repeatedly with the death of his men in both Edonia and China and that saying that his men made good test subjects, angering him to the point of taking a shot at her. She then would reveal her  plan of spreading the C-Virus all over the world and recreate the Raccoon City Incident on a global scale. However, just as she tells them of her plan, she is shot down by a Family agent, causing her to fall off the edge of the carrier, leaving behind her suitcase containing a syringe with an enhanced strain of the C-Virus.
  • Because of Radames’ contingency plan, Neo-Umbrella would carry out "Plan D", a contingency order to prevent the BSAA from discovering HAOS in the event of her death, where a missile carrying the C-Virus would launch over Lanshiang infecting hundreds of thousands to millions to eradicate the BSAA and spread the Virus across the world. Though Chris and Nivans would try to destroy it, the missile was still deployed, unleashing the Virus in its gaseous form, causing massive-scale chaos and destruction infecting nearly the entire population of Lanshiang.
  • As the real Ada Wong confronted Radames, after having seen her fall to her death, expressing a semblance of sympathy and aid for her, Radames would reawaken as her body began to mutate from a dosage of the enhanced C-Virus, with her form becoming coated in thick white residue that seeped into the surface of the carrier. In an attempt to take over Ada, Radames spat a mass of the white residue at Ada, but it was easily evaded.
  • Overcome with arrogance and insanity, Radames snarls at Ada for wanting to help her saying she never needs help from anyone, proclaiming herself to be the real Ada Wong and that her plans are thriving.
  • As her form expands, she proclaims that society shall collapse into nothingness, with hell and chaos reigning over the world with her as it's queen, before her body melting in with the rest of the residue that overtook the ship, now making the mass that consumed everything an amorphous form completely under her control.
  • In her mutated form, Radames pursues Ada throughout the carrier, using her shapeless form to create life-sized clones of herself to attack Ada. As her form grew over the area, she was able to expand a myriad of arms to try and absorb Ada as she escaped down a narrow hallway, however Radames’ giant, mutated face consumed part of the room, blocking off Ada’s face. During the fight Radames would scream at Ada, repeatedly threatening to kill her and proclaiming herself to be the real Ada Wong, however Ada managed to shoot through her form causing a leak of nitrogen gas to freeze her body, making it easy to shatter, killing Radames for good. However, her legacy would still linger.
  • As she intended, “Plan D” would launch the missile across Lanshiang, causing a mass outbreak of the C-Virus with Lanshiang descending into chaos and destruction, almost infecting Leon and Helena in the aftermath.
  • Furthermore, Simmons’ mutation caused by Radames would lead the man into becoming a destructive, sadistic, and monstrous mutant, leaving him in an excruciatingly painful state as his body continued to transform endlessly as he relentlessly pursued Leon, Helena, and Ada to kill them, before he was finally put down by Leon and Helena.
  • Because of her death, Radames’ contingency plan would awaken HAOS in order to enact her master plan of unleashing the C-Virus across the world. Though this failed as HAOS would be destroyed by Chris and Piers, Radames would be indirectly responsible for the two nearly getting killed by HAOS and the death of Piers Nivans.
    • After finding out from Leon that Jake is the son of Albert Wesker, Chris and Piers infiltrated the Underwater Facility in order to save Jake and Sherry. After finding the two, Chris would lead the group to a way out, however they discovered HAOS hatching from it’s cocoon, with it proceeding to attack the group. As Jake and Sherry made their escape, Chris and Piers remained behind to destroy HAOS. HAOS chased them around the chamber it was sealed in until they retreated to an elevator, continuing to pursue them until it cornered them in a large flooded room, where they rendered HAOS unconscious with heavy weaponry. During the fight, HAOS severely damaged the facility and managed to grab a hold of Chris, while Piers suffered a severe injury that crippled his right arm. With no other way to save Chris, Piers injected himself with the C-Virus left behind by Radames, gaining the ability to shoot electrical blasts. Now fully regenerated, HAOS broke out of its chrysalid and attacked the two. However, its decreased size and vulnerability allowed Piers to shoot electrical attacks that enabled Chris to attack its vulnerable organs which badly damaged HAOS. It made a final attempt to kill Piers, but Chris was able to rescue him and the two of them destroyed HAOS' remaining organs, supposedly killing it. Though Chris repeatedly reassured Piers he would survive and that they would escape as they made their way to the escape pods, Piers, realizing that he would eventually lose control and mutate completely, deliberately shut Chris into an escape pod alone and launched him out, remaining behind to die with the facility. However, HAOS had recovered and attacked Chris' escape pod in the water, only to be electrocuted and finally destroyed by an electrical blast from Piers before the facility exploded, destroying HAOS for good.
  • After Ada finds her lab, it is revealed that Radames, still fixated on Simmons, had kidnapped innocent men into becoming Simmons' clones, attempting to repeat the same experiment that had brought her so much confusion and resentment. Ada was disgusted by this revelation and destroyed the lab leaving no evidence behind, removing any sympathy Ada had left for Carla.
  • Destructive, chaotic, sadistic, and insane, Dr. Carla Radames had one of the, and arguably the most, heinous goals out of any villain in the Resident Evil franchise, as she intended to destroy the entire world by ravaging it with the C-Virus, one of the most dangerous Viruses of which she personally created, using all of humanity as collateral damage just to get back at Simmons for what he had done to her. In fact, amongst all Resident Evil villains, Radames is the closest ever to succeed in her goals, even more so than Albert Wesker, as had it not been for Piers Nivans’ sacrifice, Radames would’ve successfully unleashed HAOS across the world to spread the C-Virus, causing global genocide and contagion. Despite not succeeding, Radames still managed to cause countless deaths and destruction, having created the most chaotic event to ever face the Resident Evil franchise. Malicious, she killed Chris Redfield’s comrades right in front of him causing him to develop PTSD, personally infected thousands with the C-Virus, created some of the most fearsome and dangerous B.O.W.s, caused a school outbreak, and established a Bioterroist organisation, causing countless bioterrorism incidents all to destroy to the world just to get revenge on one man.

What Prevents Her from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • During her mental breakdown, Carla did have struggles with her own conscious which drove her insane, in order to destroy what Simmons had built so that he would pay for what he did to her. Ada also stated if Carla only sought vengeance against Simmons alone, she would've helped Carla to fulfill it.
    • In addition, it's implied that Carla's main purpose of contacting Ada was to let the real Ada help her to destroy Simmons, of which Ada recognized that it was because of Carla's consciousness that saw her fail. Nevertheless, by the time Ada really reached Carla, the latter had lost it and was hellbent on killing Ada and destroying the world. Ada later joined Leon in defeating Simmons to avenge Carla.
  • Before having grown to hate him and becoming obsessed with destroying the world to get back at him, Carla genuinely loved Simmons whilst working for him, having supervised Project Ada and created the C-Virus just to please him. Even after hating him, she was still obsessed with Simmons in a twisted love-and-hate way, as she even ranted his name whilst attacking Ada in her mutated form, kept a photo of her and Simmons on her desktop and it is possible that her attempting to repeat the same experiment that happened to her by creating a clone of Simmons is a sign that she still held a twisted attachment for him.
  • She treated her creation Ustanak kindly, speaking to him softly and treating him as if she were his mother. It was noted by a Neo-Umbrella member that their relationship resembled that of a mother and her child. And because of this, Ustanak would feel great admiration for her, only following her command.
