ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഒരു സാമൂഹിക പ്രവർത്തകയാണ് വി. മോഹിനി ഗിരി (ഹിന്ദി: वी मोहिनी गिरि ; ജനനം:1938 ജനുവരി 15). 1979-ൽ ഡെൽഹി ആസ്ഥാനമാക്കി പ്രവർത്തനം ആരംഭിച്ച ഗിൽഡ് ഓഫ് സർവീസ് എന്ന സന്നദ്ധ സംഘടനയുടെ ചെയർപേഴ്സണായിരുന്നു. സ്ത്രീകളുടെയും കുട്ടികളുടെയും വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം, തൊഴിൽ, സാമ്പത്തികഭദ്രത എന്നിവ ഉറപ്പാക്കുന്നതിനായി ഇവർ നടത്തിയ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ ശ്രദ്ധേയമാണ്.[2][3] 1995-98 കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ ദേശീയ വനിതാ കമ്മീഷന്റെ അധ്യക്ഷയായിരുന്നു.[4] 2007-ൽ രാജ്യം പത്മഭൂഷൺ ബഹുമതി നൽകി ആദരിച്ചു.[5]
ആദ്യകാലജീവിതം
[തിരുത്തുക]ഉത്തർപ്രദേശിന്റെ തലസ്ഥാനമായ ലഖ്നൗവിലാണ് മോഹിനി ഗിരി ജനിച്ചത്. ലഖ്നൗ സർവകലാശാലയിലെ ബിരുദപഠനത്തിനുശേഷം ഡെൽഹി സർവകലാശാലയിൽ നിന്നു പ്രാചീന ഭാരതചരിത്രത്തിൽ ബിരുദാനന്തരബിരുദം നേടി.[6] അതിനുശേഷം ജി.ബി. പാണ്ഡ് സർവകലാശാലയിൽ നിന്ന് ഡോക്ടറേറ്റും സ്വന്തമാക്കി.[7] മുൻ ഇന്ത്യൻ രാഷ്ട്രപതി വി.വി. ഗിരിയുടെ മരുമകളാണ് മോഹിനി.[1]
ഔദ്യോഗികജീവിതം
[തിരുത്തുക]സ്ത്രീ സമത്വവാദത്തെയും മനുഷ്യാവകാശങ്ങളെയും സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനായുള്ള പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളിലൂടെ മോഹിനി ഗിരി പ്രശസ്തയായി. 1971-ലെ ഇന്ത്യാ-പാക് യുദ്ധത്തിനുശേഷം 1972-ൽ മോഹിനിയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ വാർ വിഡോസ് അസോസിയേഷൻ രൂപീകരിച്ചു.[8] യുദ്ധത്തിൽ കൊല്ലപ്പെടുന്ന സൈനികരുടെ ഭാര്യമാരുടെ (വീരാംഗനമാർ) ക്ഷേമമായിരുന്നു സംഘടനയുടെ ലക്ഷ്യം. 1979 മുതൽ ഗിൽഡ് ഓഫ് സർവീസ് എന്ന സാമൂഹിക സേവനസംഘടനയുടെയും 1987-90 കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ ഡെൽഹി സ്റ്റേറ്റ് സോഷ്യൽ വെൽഫെയർ അഡ്വൈസറി ബോഡിന്റെയും അധ്യക്ഷയായിരുന്നു.
വനിതകളുടെ ക്ഷേമത്തിനായി 1992-ൽ രൂപീകരിച്ച ദേശീയ വനിതാ കമ്മീഷന്റെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ അധ്യക്ഷയും മോഹിനിയായിരുന്നു.[4] ആദ്യത്തെ അധ്യക്ഷ ജയന്തി പട്നായിക് പദവി ഒഴിഞ്ഞതിനുശേഷം 1995 ജൂലൈ 21 മുതൽ 1998 ജൂലൈ 20 വരെ മോഹിനി പദവിയിൽ തുടർന്നു.[9] ന്യൂയോർക്ക് ആസ്ഥാനമായുള്ള ദ ഹംഗ്രി പ്രോജക്ട് എന്ന ജീവകാരുണ്യസംഘടനയിലും ഇവർ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിരുന്നു.[10] കന്യ:ദി എക്സ്പ്ലോയിട്ടേഷൻ ഓഫ് ലിറ്റിൽ ആംഗിൾസ് (1998), ഇമാൻസിപേഷൻ ആൻഡ് എംപവർമെന്റ് ഓഫ് വിമെൻ (1996) എന്നീ പുസ്തകങ്ങളും രചിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
