കേരളത്തിൽ അപൂർവ്വമായി മാത്രം കണ്ടുവരുന്ന ഒരു ദേശാടനപക്ഷിയാണ് യൂറോപ്യൻ വേലിത്തത്ത. തെക്കൻ യൂറോപ്പിൽ വടക്കേ ആഫ്രിക്കയിലും പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ ഏഷ്യയിലും ഭാഗങ്ങളിലുമാണ് ഇവ പ്രജനനം നടത്തുന്നത്. തണുപ്പുകാലത്ത് ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ ഉഷ്ണമേഖലാ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലേയ്ക്ക് ദേശാടനം നടത്തുന്നു.
