StreetPass Mii Plaza is a video game and a piece of built-in software for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. It released in November 2011 alongside the launch of the system, and can be playable once the user creates a Mii with the Mii Maker and assigns it to their system. StreetPass Mii Plaza utilizes the StreetPass functionality to transfer Miis between other Nintendo 3DS users, and it uses each Mii as a character that helps the player progress farther in each game. The Mii Plaza serves as the main menu for the game, and it contains multiple unique sub-games for the player to progress through simultaneously. StreetPass Mii Plaza launched with three games, with the remaining games being purchasable through DLC packs.

Gameplay

StreetPass Mii Plaza's main focus is on the StreetPass functionality of the Nintendo 3DS Family. If two 3DS users tag each other, their Miis will appear in each other's plazas and can be used to progress further in the games included with the software. Miis will greet each other at the Plaza Gate, where tagged Miis will give a short greeting with their name, birthday, country of residence, latest played game (if the tagged user allows it), and a custom message created by the other user. Users who tag each other more than once can give their Miis custom personal greetings for only the recipient to see. If a user is tagged twice or more, upon greeting the player, their Mii will ask what the player thinks of them. The player can respond with "Fantastic!" or "Ok, I guess...", with the tagged Mii responding positively or negatively, respectively. If the player thinks the tagged Mii is fantastic, this information will be delivered to the recipient if two ever tag again. After two StreetPass users tag each other, they cannot tag each other again until 8 hours pass. Special Miis, usually those of Nintendo employees, were occasionally distributed via SpotPass. These Miis would wear unique golden pants unobtainable by the player. If the user had played a 3DS game with online multiplayer, the Miis of those they had played with would appear in their plaza, but could not be used to progress through any of the plaza games.

Most sub-games provide bonuses for tagging multiple people at once. In Ultimate Angler and Mii Force, more users tagged at once allows the player to reel in stronger fish easier and to use more weapons in a single session, respectively. Select games also add benefits for tagging the same person repeatedly, such as how Find Mii increases the damage heroes can deal if they were tagged multiple times, and Monster Manor benefitting the player by giving repeatedly tagged Miis a wider selection of floor pieces for the player to choose from. Players were able to upgrade their plaza by purchasing Mii Plaza Premium (known as StreetPass Premium in PAL regions). It included may new features, such as the ability to save Miis permanently, and being able to collect birthdays. It costed $4.99 USD, and also included a special Premium Badge for the player to wear.
