Janperson (ジャンパーソン Janpāson?) is a purple and silver robot who works as a detective. He was once a killing machine known as the MX-A1 (エムエックスエーワン Emu Ekkusu Ē Wan?), that was deactivated due to him becoming out of control but was later rebuilt with human emotions by the young female scientist Kaoru Saegusa. Like RoboCop, he upholds the law but he is purely mechanical. He is seen as the kind of police officer who never gives up that easily. He also has problems dealing with his former life as MX-A1 when he is forced to destroy evil easily. He wears a jumper but in combat mode, he wears goggles.
Biography[]
The MX-A1 was designed by a team of scientists that included Kaoru Saegusa to be a police robot that unquestionably enforced justice. However, the MX-A1 took its programming to "destroy evil" extremes, avoid destroying innocent civilians and decided to destroyed evil criminals.
While the MX-A1 was being tested out, it went on a rampage and attacked a factory, killing criminals instead of the workers there. The incident was covered up but MX-A1 was decommissioned right after and deemed a failure. However, Kaoru still saw potential in the MX-A1 and began working to totally remodel the MX-A1 to fix the issues in its programming, resulting in Janperson being created from it. While Janperson was a success, traces of the MX-A1's programming still existed within him and soon began to resurface as a split personality within Janperson.
The MX-A1 first emerged during Janperson's confrontation with Angel, compelling Janperson to destroy the robot even when it wasn't attacking him. It later surfaced again as Janperson was facing the R3 built by Neo-Guild, pushing him to use needlessly aggressive tactics against the robot.
Fearing for what he might do, Janperson asked Kaoru to check up on him to see what was wrong, but Kaoru didn't find any abnormalities within Janperson's programming. Before they could do a further examination however, Kaoru was lured out by Jeff Gondo and kidnapped along with her brother Shuhei.
Janperson went to rescue both of them, but as Jeff Gondo held a gun to Kaoru's head the MX-A1 resurfaced again and compelled him to kill both of them. However, through his happy memories with Kaoru and Shuhei, Janperson was able to totally suppress the MX-A1 and gain control over himself again, going on to rescue Kaoru and Shuhei.
Tokusou Robo Janperson[]

A walking arsenal designed for combat use known as project MX-A1, Janperson Prototype MX-A1 (JPプロトタイプ・MX-A1 Jēpī Purototaipu Emu Ekkusu Ē Wan?) was a mindless machine & would kill anything on its way. Because of this, it was later deactivated & the project was canceled due to him becoming out of control & going berserk. It has a green body, a scope in the right eye, and a missile in the back. It also features similar weapons to Janperson, except for the missile on the shoulder.
Sometime in the series, the original MX-A1 programming came back as a mysterious voice and caused Janperson to hallucinate.

It has a strong body, a robot-like side with a lot of combat equipment, kindness and warmth, and it has a side that can understand and accept the pain and sadness of people (other than others). He has an absolute belief in his own justice as well as human life and love, and for that reason, he has shown his willingness to throw his own life and to turn the state power into an enemy. However, at the root of this, the excessive poetic justice AI of the prototype MX-A1 remains while being suppressed [note 2]. Eventually, he cuts off the right and wrong judgment circuit himself, returns to MX-A1 and heads to kill Bill Goldy, but regains his heart in the battle.
Janperson is composed of the following parts:
- Super Computer (スーパーコンピュータ Sūpā Konpyūta?): Located in Janperson's head. With this mechanism, he can think, get upset, and get rid of things. Allows him to get along well with humans and does not make a wrong judgment.
- High Power Unit (ハイパワーユニット Hai Pawā Yunitto?): Located on Janperson's chest. It is a mechanism that produces tremendous power, but the type of energy being used is a mystery.
- Ultra-Hybrid Motor (ウルトラハイブリッドモーター Urutora Haiburiddo Mōtā?): A small motor mounted on the shoulder, allowing Janperson to withstand the weight of large objects thrown at him.
