Add topicWhat future IdeaLab campaigns would you like to see?
[edit]Hi there,
I’m Jethro, and I’m seeking your help in deciding topics for new IdeaLab campaigns that could be run starting next year. These campaigns aim to bring in proposals and solutions from communities that address a need or problem in Wikimedia projects. I'm interested in hearing your preferences and ideas for campaign topics!
Here’s how to participate:
- Learn more about this consultation
- Vote on and submit new campaign topics in the AllOurIdeas Survey
- Discuss campaign topics and ask questions on the IdeaLab talk page
Take care,
I JethroBT (WMF), Community Resources, Wikimedia Foundation. 03:33, 5 December 2015 (UTC)
Future IdeaLab Campaigns results

I'm happy to announce the results of your participation, and encourage you to review them and our next steps for implementing those campaigns this year. Thank you to everyone who volunteered time to participate and submit ideas.

2016 Community Wishlist Survey
[edit]Hi,
You’re getting this message because you participated in the 2015 Community Wishlist Survey and we want to make sure you don't miss it this year – or at least can make the conscious choice to ignore if it you want to. The 2015 survey decided what the Community Tech team should work on during 2016. It was also the focus of Wikimedia hackathons and work by other developers. You can see the status of wishes from the 2015 wishlist at 2015 Community Wishlist Survey/Results.
The 2016 Community Wishlist Survey is now open for wishes. You can create proposals until November 20. You will be able to vote on which wishes you think are best or most important between November 28 and December 12. /Johan (WMF) (talk) via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 11:17, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
Watchlist Expiry project page
[edit]Hello,
During the Community Whishlist survey 2019, you have voted for the Watchlist item Expiration wish.
Community Tech has created the Watchlist Expiry project page to work on this feature, and is looking for your feedback about the open questions they have.
Regards, IFried_(WMF), 15:51, 25 September 2019 (UTC)
Reporting accounts
[edit]Hey. You might want to install User:Xiplus/TwinkleGlobal.js so you can report accounts for locking at whichever wiki you're on. Minorax (talk) 08:29, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
Account renaming
[edit]Sorry if I'm asking on the wrong place. I need to change my username that's currently jkbeast2135 And I have no way of doing it on my own, I read on one of the pages that I need to as one of you guys so I have chosen your name
If you have the authority to change my username then please change it to johank213 or something along those lines
Thank you so much. I would greatly appreciate it! My email is johankoekemoer213@gmail.com Jkbeast2135 (talk) 04:51, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
- Jkbeast2135, the point to renaming accounts is to preserve the attribution of a user's contributions. You have made only one edit, this request. It would be easier for you (and quicker) to just abandon this account and start over with a new account.
- Moreover, "or something along those lines", you need to decide what name you want. It's not for anyone else to do on your behalf.
- If you really, really need to have your account renamed then Steward requests/Username changes is the place to request it. A properly formatted request there hooks into the tools to do the job. Cabayi (talk) 09:01, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
Account renaming
[edit]Sorry for the inconvenience. I didn't know there was already an account named Rafplayz. Rafplayz001 (talk) 13:03, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
- Rafplayz001 it doesn't. There's a difference between
- Is big P RafPlayz yours? Do you have access to it? If you don't, you can ask to usurp it at USURP.
- I'll go ahead and reject the current request just to tidy up the loose ends. Regards, Cabayi (talk) 14:59, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
- Big P RafPlayz is not mine, I requested to switch over to Rafplayz, if you could do that for me, please and thanks. I thought usernames were case-insensitive. Thanks in advance, Rafplayz001 (talk) 15:10, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
The 2021 Community Wishlist Survey is now open! This survey is the process where communities decide what the Community Tech team should work on over the next year. We encourage everyone to submit proposals until the deadline on 30 November, or comment on other proposals to help make them better. The communities will vote on the proposals between 8 December and 21 December.
The Community Tech team is focused on tools for experienced Wikimedia editors. You can write proposals in any language, and we will translate them for you. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing your proposals!
18:25, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
We invite all registered users to vote on the 2021 Community Wishlist Survey. You can vote from now until 21 December for as many different wishes as you want.
In the Survey, wishes for new and improved tools for experienced editors are collected. After the voting, we will do our best to grant your wishes. We will start with the most popular ones.
We, the Community Tech, are one of the Wikimedia Foundation teams. We create and improve editing and wiki moderation tools. What we work on is decided based on results of the Community Wishlist Survey. Once a year, you can submit wishes. After two weeks, you can vote on the ones that you're most interested in. Next, we choose wishes from the survey to work on. Some of the wishes may be granted by volunteer developers or other teams.
We are waiting for your votes. Thank you!

[edit]Hello! Hope you are doing good. I would like to change my username as "Agnihothri Sharath". Could you please help? Thank you, --Sreeram Dilak (talk) 13:03, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
Reply
[edit]As you said here so I want to reply you that this email hcatlin@wikimedia.org doesn't exist in which you emailed because I am a former employer in WMF so it doesn't exist but this email exist hamptoncatlinwmf@gmail.com —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hampton Catlin (talk) 11:09, 29 October 2021 (UTC)
- Hampton Catlin, Former employees don't qualify for a (WMF) suffix to be added to their username. It seems clear to me you're impersonating w:en:Hampton Catlin. Cabayi (talk) 11:19, 29 October 2021 (UTC)
Recent rename
[edit]Hello. AFAIK, a user who is blocked on a wiki is not eligible for vanishing, especially those who are blocked for socking/vandalism. This rename should be reverted. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 10:42, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
- I'd agree with you, but read the request and consider which other policies, and requests in other places, might be in play. Cabayi (talk) 10:50, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
- PhilKnight, TonyBallioni, Oshwah, Xaosflux are capable of seeing the other aspect to this decision if you need a second opinion. Cabayi (talk) 11:04, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Minorax: I don't love this, but assuming good faith on the report will endorse this due to the non-public factors. Also, very low contribution count and sufficient links left to allow local administrators to still deal with this should it resurface. — xaosflux Talk 11:19, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Cabayi and Xaosflux: Noted. Thanks. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 11:48, 31 December 2021 (UTC)

My rename to ᕙᕗ
[edit]Hello, I would reply on the other page but I can't. People don't have to type it in, I could have a name that people can call me and they can type. It could be in my signature like ᕙᕗ(anchor) or something like that. Anchoritium (talk) 14:03, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
- You could just as easily change your sig to
[[User:Anchoritium|ᕙᕗ]] ([[User talk:Anchoritium|talk]])
→ ᕙᕗ (talk) and skip the rename completely. That way users trying to ping you{{u|Anchoritium}}
on pages where your username isn't readily available to copy-and-paste could still communicate with you. - My primary concern is that other users should be able to collaborate with you. A username of characters not found on anybody's keyboard (given that you're editing the English wikipedia) isn't helpful in that regard.
- A totally irrelevant question but, "a name that people can call me"... how is ᕙᕗ pronounced? Cabayi (talk) 14:26, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
- I don't really know, I don't speak the language the characters are in. Also, I did not think that people would not be able to ping me without a copy and paste. So I guess just cancel the rename then. But, I will request another name change that's all english characters though, cause I want to ditch my current username. Thanks though. Anchoritium (talk) 14:39, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for your understanding. I've rejected the request which should clear the way for you to make a fresh request. Regards, Cabayi (talk) 14:59, 5 January 2022 (UTC)

apology email
[edit]Hi cabayi, I sent you an email apologizing about the inconvenience to arb.com. I do agree with proving to be a good editor, I just felt that the admin was biting a newcomer. I don’t feel that at this time. I hope we can move forward and be friends on the wikis, if I am bothering you please let me know and I will step back. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Masai giraffe (talk) 22:27, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- Masai giraffe, the committee responded within hours of your last appeal and told you where you should direct your next appeal. Cabayi (talk) 17:17, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
- I didn’t get that email. Masai giraffe (talk) 23:54, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
- Nonsense, you replied to that email. Cabayi (talk) 10:09, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- @JamesBWatson, Yamla, and Deepfriedokra: I recommend you do not waste your time with them, and ignore future communications from them, as I've been having to babysit them over at Wikidata where it's clear their only interest is hat collection/admin wannabe (for example, telling them to stay out of admin matters, woefully early RfA).--Jasper Deng (talk) 05:25, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've added them to my mute list on every project they have an account, given their cross-wiki harassment. --Yamla (talk) 11:30, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
- Only replying once, but I did request adminship too early and ever since you told me it’s best for me to stay out of stuff that only concerns admins I have stayed out of it. I am trying to in my spare time prevent vandalism and disruption and improve contents. Masai giraffe (talk) 00:18, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Masai giraffe: It is very hard to believe that when nearly all the edits you've made to Wikidata are in administrative areas. Your actions speak louder than your words. I also request that you stop emailing me and others. It's not our responsibility to educate or mentor you and we do not have the bandwidth for your emails, to be blunt.--Jasper Deng (talk) 02:25, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
- I will no longer email you or anyone else and will show in my edits to that I don’t solely want to be an admin it’s about prevention of disruption and vandalism. Masai giraffe (talk) 18:45, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
- Given your lack of experience you would do a lot better learning how to improve articles and hone your own skills rather than trying to tell any other editor how to do so. Cabayi (talk) 18:54, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
