The type-8 shuttlecraft was a class of small Federation Starfleet shuttlecraft in operation in the late 24th and early 25th centuries.

History and specifications[]

The type-8 shuttlecraft was introduced into service in the late 2360s decade and was the standard shuttlecraft design incorporated into many starship classes, including the Intrepid-class. (VOY episode: "Caretaker", et al.)

The class continued in Starfleet service into the early 2410s, with the Tereshkova still in service in the year 2410. (STO - The Iconian War mission: "Uneasy Allies")

Livery[]

In the 25th century, the design of the Type-8 shuttlecraft allowed its mothership's commanding officer to choose from different designs of livery, which could be modified further at starbases. These options were numbered Types and Veteran. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

Furthermore, the installation of deflector shields from specific factions modified the hull appearance, including shields from the Reman Resistance, the Breen Confederacy and the Dominion. (STO missions: "Coliseum", "Cold Storage", "Boldly They Rode")
