Appearances[]
Profile[]
The Algon Microelectronics is a large fabrication plant in the Yurashima district of Amami City. It is where Algon Soft's Krypto Chip is manufactured. Sometime prior, the Phantom Society had forced Lunch's father into turning over the factory to Algon Soft with threats of killing his wife and son if he didn't cooperate. This led to a major rift between the two, including Lunch stealing both a prototype CPU in development and a security decoder in retaliation for the perceived betrayal.
Story[]
Following on Sukeroku's tip, the Spookies disassembled the Krypto Chip that Lunch had replaced with a stolen prototype in HQ's PC. They discovered the processor die was composed of a strange, seemingly organic matter. From the core an ethereal insect-like creature emerged and flew off. Startled by this, they decided to investigate the truth behind the Krypto Chip's specifications at the manufacturing plant.
Breaking into the factory, the find the chip's assembly line. Lunch's father appears, having apparently suspected the same thing the Spookies did about the Krypto Chip's connection to the rash of illness in the city. He explains that the organic die is a "Spore," shipped from another site, and explains that the central database likely has full documentation on the chip's functions. He eventually agrees to help the Spookies infiltrate the database, and warns them of the creepy factory manager.
Once they arrive there, Spooky hacks into Algon's database. Retrieving the Krypto Chip document, it explains that it is a biotechnological microprocessor intended to harvest souls: the "Spore" serves as a carrier to collect the soul of those using the computer, and is able to transport itself through the Internet back to Manitou. The entire group is stunned by the contents of the document. Before they can leave with the information, they are halted by the factory manager, who makes it clear that Nishi assigned him here for the sole purpose of killing them when they came for the Krypto Chip documents. He reveals himself as the demon Shemyaza, eager for bloodshed. The protagonist and Nemissa take him down while the remaining Spookies escape.
