Trumpy, known as Rarapappa (ララパッパ,Rarapappa) in the Japanese version, is a virus in the Mega Man Battle Network series that resemble a brass instrument wearing headphones. They appear in later games from the series starting with Mega Man Battle Network 3.
A Trumpy jumps up and down in the right-most column on the enemy's side, pausing after four jumps to play music that will affect either MegaMan or its allies. However, Trumpies don't benefit from their own music.
Trumpy is a yellow variant. Their music makes its allies invincible. Its name is derived from trumpet (rappa in Japanese).
Tuby[]
Tuby (ララチューバ, "Raratuba") is a blue variant. Their music confuses MegaMan. Moving up on the D-pad makes MegaMan move down, etc. Its name is derived from tuba.
Tromby[]
Tromby (ララボーン, "Rarabone") is a pink variant. Their music immobilizes MegaMan. Its name is derived from trombone.
MuteAnt[]
MuteAnt (ララミュート, "Raramute") is a grey variant. Their music makes MegaMan blind, similar to the Battle Chip Blinder.
Xylos[]
Xylos (ララホルン, "Rarahorn") is an orange variant. Their music recovers HP to its allies. Its name appears to be derived from xylophone, despite it not being a brass instrument. In the Japanese version, its name is derived from a horn instead.
TrumpyΩ/TrumpyEX/TrumpySP[]
TrumpyEX (ララパッパSP, "Rarapappa SP"), or TrumpySP in Mega Man Battle Network 5 and 6, is a green variant. It is a more powerful Trumpy, their music also making its allies invincible. In Mega Man Battle Network 3 only, this variant is known as TrumpyΩ and has the grey palette of a MuteAnt, but otherwise function the same.
Trumpies yield the Fanfare series of Battle Chips when deleted. These chips summons a 100HP Trumpy virus (60HP in Mega Man Battle Network 6) in front of MegaMan that plays its music on an interval, causing various effects while the music is playing. The Trumpy can be destroyed by enemy attacks. Like other chips that summon something, these can be placed on the enemy side too.
Fanfare (オウエンカ,Ouenka) summons a standard Trumpy. When it plays, MegaMan is invincible to attacks. The Trumpy is still vulnerable, though.
Discord (ディスコード,Disukōdo) summons a Tuby that causes enemies to become confused for the duration of its song.
Timpani (ティンパニー,Tinpanī) summons a Tromby, whose song immobilizes enemies while it plays.
Silence (サイレンス,Sairensu) A MuteAnt appears and makes enemies blind. While enemies can still attack, their speed and rate of doing so is decreased, and some enemies will miss their attacks entirely.
Dark Sonic, known as Dark Sound (ダークサウンド,Dāku Saundo) in Japan, is a Dark Chip only found in Mega Man Battle Network 5. When used, it summons a purple Trumpy with 100HP whose music paralyzes all enemies. Other than the health penalty caused by using Dark Chips, a bug occurs that causes MegaMan to instantly teleport to the edge of his side of the field. This chip is required as a sacrifice to activate Colonel Chaos, and it will be used as that Chaos Unison's Charge Shot.
