The Nino Ruins (ニーノ島の遺跡 Nīno Shima no Iseki) is a location in Mega Man Legends 2. They are the aquatic ruins that lie deep under the large tower below Ruminoa City on Nino Island.
Story[]
In the distant past, Yuna sealed MegaMan and Data on these ruins after MegaMan's battle against Sera in Forbidden Island.
Several years later, MegaMan and Data were found by Barrell Caskett while he was a Digger. As Barrell entered without permission to research the ruins, he could not reveal where he found them, and he decided to adopt them.[1]
During Mega Man Legends 2, the ruins are targetted by the Air Pirate Alliance due to having one of the four keys to the Mother Lode. The Glyde Gang attacked Nino Island to gain access to it, and the Guildmaster was ready to detonate the island to keep the pirates away from the ruins. After the Glyde Gang is stopped by MegaMan and Roll, MegaMan gains permission to enter the ruins. After finding the key in the deepest part of the ruins, another pirate, Klaymoor, appears to take it from MegaMan, fighting against MegaMan twice, but MegaMan manages to leave the ruins with the key.
Gameplay[]
Despite being underwater, these ruins have a system of sluices that allow one to fill up entire floors with water. There are areas with strong currents that cannot be passed when they are filled with water, and there are areas that are too high to be accessed normally, requiring water to be reached. In areas filled with water, MegaMan will fall slower, increasing the distance of his jumps, and some areas have blocks that are too heavy to be lift normally, but when the area is filled with water, MegaMan can lift the blocks, allowing him to change their position to be used as platforms.
The Drill Arm is recommended here as there are walls to break (mitigating the need to revisit the area) and the bosses are weak to it, especially when powered up, being able to defeat Klaymoor in few seconds when fully upgraded. Hydrojets is recommended here in order to pass through flooded areas more quickly.
