- A reboot to the Wesley Snipes trilogy from New Line Cinema.
- Wesley Snipes wanted to reprise his role as Blade before the rights went back to Marvel.
- Kevin Feige announced at the 2019 San Diego Comic Con that a film about Blade was in development and Mahershala Ali is set to play the title character.
- Wesley Snipes congratulated Mahershala Ali on getting the role of Blade.
- Kevin Feige revealed in a interview that the film will be part of Phase 5.
- Mahershala Ali turned down to play Commissioner James Gordon in The Batman to do this film instead.
- Idris Elba, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and John Boyega were interested in portraying Blade before the part went to Mahershala Ali. In the comics, Blade is in fact English.
