Spinies are a type of obstacle in Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix.

Physical description[]

A Spiny resembles a metallic sphere with spikes, and it has black rims, essentially appearing to be mines. They are featured in red, green, and orange color variations, and the orange ones resemble Spiny Eggs.

Behavior[]

If a Spiny is stepped onto, it explodes, causing the player's dance meter to decrease significantly. In Mush Mode, the red Spinies move faster than the green ones.

In Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix[]

In the Mush Mode versions of "In the Whirlpool" and "Step by Step," a red or a green Spiny sometimes appears in place of an arrow. There are orange Spinies in Banana Storm and Coin Collection. In Banana Storm, Ukikis may sometimes throw Spinies instead of bananas, and Mario or Luigi have to avoid the Spinies. In Coin Collection, Mario or Luigi must avoid the Spinies while riding on a cloud, and if he hits a Spiny, he falls off.

Spinies have an ice variation, Ice Spiny, which bear a significantly different appearance than regular Spinies.
