"Peaches" is a song performed by Jack Black as Bowser.[2] It is composed by Aaron Horvath, Michael Jelenic, Eric Osmond, John Spiker and Jack Black in a key of C# major and a time of 1 minute and 35 seconds. The song was used in The Super Mario Bros. Movie where Bowser expressed his love for Princess Peach.
The song has its single album. It also appeared in the The Super Mario Bros. Movie soundtrack as the 17th song played in the list.
Creation and development[]
Jack Black, who voices Bowser in the film, co-wrote the song[3] with directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic,[1] as well as Eric Osmond and Black's frequent collaborator John Spiker (who also produced).
In the film's production notes, Bowser's musical background was absent in the first draft of the movie's script. The composers tried to get to the point of Bowser's feelings for Peach, described to be funny and sweet if they had him sing a song about it. The writers spent the night writing a song and sent the demo to Black. A couple days later, Black sent back the finished track where he added his own twist and his pianist played an original music track for it.[4]
Lyrics[]
(This one... is for my one and only true love. Princess Peach)
Peach, you're so cool
And with my star, we're gonna rule
Peach, understand
I'm gonna love you 'til the very end
Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches
Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches
I love you, oh!
Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches
Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches
I love you, oh!
Mario, Luigi, and a Donkey Kong too
A thousand troops of Koopas couldn't keep me from you
Princess Peach, at the end of the line
I'll make you mine, oh!
Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches
Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches
I love you, oh!
PEACHES, PEACHES!!! PEAAAACH, PEAAAAAACH!!!
Additional Remix lyrics[]
Peach, you’re the one that I love
Peach, you’re the one that I’m dreaming of
Peach, you’re the one that I need
Peach, I’m on my knees
You’re out of reach

Uses[]
The Super Mario Bros. Movie[]
Bowser performed this song on his piano to express his love for Princess Peach playing it on his piano. However, after singing the first chorus, Kamek interrupted him. Bowser continued singing the song from the second verse while he was small and imprisoned in a cage, but he was interrupted by a Toad guard.
Official music video[]
Black starred in an officially sponsored live-action music video of himself performing the song for the music channel Lyrical Lemonade. An official clip-based music video for the song was uploaded on the film's social media accounts and Illumination's YouTube channel on April 10, 2023. Cole Bennett directed the music video.[5]

The song reached the top 100 on the iTunes Store upon the release of The Super Mario Bros. Movie (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) on April 7, 2023 for digital platforms.[1] As of April 19, 2023, the song was streamed over 14 million times on Spotify.[6]
In pop culture[]
This song has spawned many memes across the internet; when Jack Black throws a peach at the screen in the live-action music video, many fans have replaced the "peach" (sometimes Black as well) with other media like a flash grenade. Whenever Bowser sings the word "Peaches", many fans have misheard it as something explicit, especially at the ending of the song where Bowser screams Peach's name. Some memes spawned from this mishearing. Netizens posted videos of "Peaches" parodies.[7]
Reception[]
The song "Peaches" gained more positive reception and a rare amount of negative reception.
Kayleena Pierce-Bohen complimented the song for being catchy due to the incredible earworm chorus, "Peaches, peaches, peaches!" which "Mario fans will be humming."[8] Alex Hopper points out that "the track makes use of Black's sense of humor"; within the perspective of Black's character, the lyrics were described as a "loving ode" to Princess Peach.[9]
Stacey Henley stated that the song felt like a forced inclusion which can be described either a "ghost of the original cut that was rumoured to be a musical", or an "excuse for Jack Black's Tenacious D-fuelled pipes to get a more family friendly outing."[10] The song caused controversy, getting criticized for "promoting sexist behavior."[11]
