Mario Party

Oil Crisis is a 4-Player Mic minigame in Mario Party 7.

Opening[]

The characters wave at the screen while standing in front of their cars.

Gameplay[]

The characters must drive their cars around any Oil Slick placed along the way and collect pink fuel cans to get to the finish line. Players must alternate between the "Left" and "Right" commands to move their car in the respective direction. During each character's turn, they have a single chance to use their Mushroom to receive a speed boost, similarly to the Mario Kart series, if the corresponding player shouts "Mushroom" into the Mic. If there is no Mic, the commands are selected from a blue box. The finish line is 200 yards away from the starting point. If a character's car runs out of fuel, they stop moving, and their distance is measured from how far they drove from the starting point. Whoever travels the farthest is the winner. If more than one character crosses the finish line, then any character who has done so is ranked the winner. It is impossible to end the minigame in a tie.

Ending[]

Oil Crisis End

The ending to Oil Crisis, with Toad as the winner

Whoever wins stands in front of their car at the finish line, where they perform their victory animations.

Controls[]

  • Microphone: Say: "Right," "Left," "Mushroom"

Flavor text[]

  • Rules: Drive your kart by shouting commands into the Mic. Don't run out of fuel before you cross the finish line.
  • Advice: The "Mushroom" command will give you a burst of speed, but you can only use it once. Plan ahead!

Trivia[]

  • The term "oil crisis" references the 1973 oil crisis, a real-life event that occurred when the price of oil skyrocketed because of an embargo on the part of OAPEC.
