Bio[]
Appearance[]
Aiko has fair skin and dark blue eyes with short, shoulder-length hair flared at the bottom. Her bangs are very short, exposing her forehead with a split on the corner, where several tiny curls and a single, larger curl reside.
Originally, Aiko wore a kiwi green and yellow shirt paired with baggy, royal blue denim overalls. The buttons were gold and the leg cuff was rolled up. She wore socks and light brown shoes.
Starting with Motto, she switched to a plain green T-shirt and khaki vest with denim pants. Her shoes and socks were the same, although her shoes have a different design.
Personality[]
Aiko is a sporty, bold and passionate young girl. She can come off as rough around the edges as a result, and due to her comedic nature, she may sometimes sound rude without trying to be. She isn't good when it comes to learning but she is always up for a brand new challenge. Although Aiko is very humble, she possesses a natural talent and isn't shown having too much trouble doing things, causing others to rely on her for help or advice.
Although she comes off as tomboyish, Aiko is also very mature and capable of handling things responsibly. Even from a young age, when her parents gave her the choice of deciding who she wanted to stay with. She looked at who needed her more and understood the aftermath of her decision, leading her to pick her dad because she knew he needed someone to help him. She is realistic and practical, and can be motherly around those she cares for. As such, she has become accustomed to covering up her insecurities and past concerns, and has a lot of baggage from the past. She hates to be seen as childish in front of others and tends to get flustered when her facade begins to crack.
She is also regarded as being cool and easy-going, but is usually the first one for cracking a joke or giving others a rousing pep talk.
Witch Apprentice[]
Aiko is represented by sky blue. She was brought to the Maho-do after witnessing Doremi's magic cause the duplicate of her dad disappear. Doremi told her and Hazuki to wait outside, but they spied on her while she was telling Majorika what happened, and they were caught. Majorika decided to make them Apprentice Witches in order to help Doremi keep her secret. Aiko was excited about the prospect of being able to help out her dad with magic, and encouraged the others with her salesman spirit as they set up the shop.
At first, Majorika considered Aiko to be like Doremi when she messed up her first spell. But she was the first to learn how to gain control over her broom.
Her fairy is Mimi and her crystal ball is a blue diamond.

Background[]
Aiko has had a difficult past and does not like to talk about it. While she plays it off as nothing she is shown struggling when forced to deal with it or be reminded of something that happened.
When she was little, Aiko got hurt while playing with herself due to her parents being busy. She was rushed to the hospital and heard them arguing over the incident as she woke up, and she blamed herself for what happened to try to calm them down. Since then they continued arguing, and soon they made the mutual agreement to split up. Aiko blamed herself and was going to leave with her mother until realizing her dad would need her more, so she made the decision to stay by his side. She was aware that it hurt her mother, and she deeply misses her, which is why she meets up with her in private now.
At one point, Aiko reveals that she never learned to swim. She blames her dad, who tried to help her learn but she wasn't able to get the hang of it and gave up.
She was also afraid of her Grandfather, because he could be violent with her mother and Aiko witnessed this. It led her to be fearful of older men related to those she knew.
Relationships[]
Doremi[]
Aiko accidentally angered her when they first met, but after Doremi got to know her, she came to see Aiko as a good person. They have a close bond and often tease each other.
Hazuki[]
Aiko is capable of understanding how sensitive Hazuki is, and often encourages her when she feels worried or uncertain of herself. While Aiko is gentle with Hazuki, she also believes in being stern.
Onpu[]
Aiko openly disliked Onpu for being manipulative, but she considered her a friend and became attached to her. With both of them being level-headed and calm-tempered most of the time, they got along and help each other. Aiko is usually the first to notice if something is off with Onpu and will help her to the extent that she can. They can disagree with each other
Momoko[]
Due to having similarly rough starts with their friends, Aiko was able to help Momoko realize how blunt she came across and how it was considered to be rude. She helped her make amends with Hazuki and Onpu. They both have a sense of humor and get along, although Aiko does express annoyance by some of Momoko's wackier ideas or when she clings to her in fright.
Hana-chan[]
Aiko adores Hana-chan and could often be found holding her. She learned how to raise a baby with Doremi's mothers help and worried that she wasn't as caring as the other girls were when it came to raising her. She is highly protective over Hana. She may be too blunt when she scolds others when they make mistakes towards her.
Pop[]
She thinks she is very mature and she teases Doremi about it.
Nobuko Yokokawa[]
Aiko admired Nobuko after she lied about knowing a popular male idol, and about not having a mother, since they could relate. She became very angry finding this out, but she forgave her after realizing Nobuko only did it wanting to be able to get closer to Aiko. She comes to view Nobuko as a good friend throughout the series, and looks forward to her new stories.
Leon[]
Aiko's FLAT 4 counterpart. He often challenges her to random sports games that she always manages to win. Leon was interested in her due to her skill and his competitive personality, but she found him to be very annoying and didn't like him. She especially hates the way he uses random English when speaking.
Anrima Kenichi[]
An old friend that appears in Naisho. She made a promise to marry him when they were younger to avoid revealing she couldn't swim. She was surprised to see him again when he returned to remind her of the promise, and while she does generally care about him, she doesn't feel the same way for him as he did her. She didn't drive him away instantly like she does other guys.
Magical Doremi[]
Aiko was renamed Mirabelle P. Haywood and comes from the country in a nearby town. She is sometimes called "Mir" by Dorie. She was given a country accent to reflect her original dialect, and her favorite food -Takoyaki- was changed into biscuits or cookies.
