Hofnarr, better known as Tricky the Clown, is the secondary antagonist of the Madness Combat series, a supporting character of Madness: Project Nexus and its sequel Madness: Project Nexus 2 and the main antagonist of his own Friday Night Funkin' mod. He is a psychotic zombie clown who has achieved godhood via use of the Improbability DriveTM, and is Hank J. Wimbleton's arch-nemesis.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- As his name suggests, he is a very manipulative trickster who has used deception to his advantage several times in the series, including the non-canon incidents.
- While he starts off as just another incompetent who gets killed quickly, the moment the Improbability Drive gets activated he takes advantage of it and uses it to enhance his strength and give him reality-warping powers.
- He perfectly pulls off the Comic Relief role while still being an intimidating and threatening character.
- As stated by Krinkels, Tricky is the smartest character in the entire series, even smarter than the Auditor and Jebus. This is due to being a scientist before he died.
- When he died and got revived as a zombie, he wore a mask to hide it.
- Unlike literally every other character who turns into a mindless beast when zombified, Tricky retained his intelligence despite his insanity.
- Despite literally having god powers, he plays fair as he mainly uses his reality warping abilities to enhance his hand-to-hand fighting skills.
- He is also surprisingly honorable such as in one of his fights against Hank he threw a weapon at Hank for him to defend himself with.
- He's relatively chill, as when he's not tormenting Hank for his own amusement he works different jobs such as becoming a DJ or starting a railway Train express, which is not something a villain would usually do when they have the amounts of power Tricky has.
- At first he was simply a pawn of the Sheriff, but then he decided 'Fine, I'll do it myself' and went rogue.
- When he suffers a villainous breakdown when Hank throws him off the cliff, he recovers in seconds by transforming into his demon form.
- He's a walking UNO reverse card such as when he got absorbed by the Auditor as he took advantage of it and claimed the halo for himself. The entire situation was his soul getting absorbed and he basically went "no, my halo".
- Although him leaving the Improbability Drive in the open led to his downfall when Jebus damaged it, Tricky learnt from this mistake as seen when he used the halo he takes special care to keep it with him at all times.
- Him pulling peace signs and smiling at the camera provides a level of charm unlike no other character in the series.
- In a non-canon incident, he sneaks into a facility by hiding in a Birthday cake before crashing a birthday party to steal a box.
- In another non-canon incident, he outsmarts MAG Hank and shoots down Deimos and Sanford, causing the helicopter to suddenly (and comedically) crash into an agent who was giving instructions to a MAG agent. At the end of the incident he smiles at the camera again, holds up a peace sign and is declared the Unstoppable Nevadean Champion.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- He loves tormenting Hank for his own amusement, reviving and killing him multiple times until he is satisfied with Hank's performance (Hank, to a degree however, deserves it).
- He has so far 7 onscreen kills, most of which were extremely brutal.
- When he stole the Halo from the Auditor, he almost immediately took over Hell, forcing the Auditor to team up with his arch-enemy.
- His crimes are even worse in the non-canon incidents such as when he crashed a Birthday party, shot down Deimos and Sanford and ate a MAG Agent from the inside.
Trivia[]
- Tricky, possibly alongside the Auditor and Deimos, are the only Madness Combat characters to be Magnificent Baddies.
