“ I HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS OF YEARS TORMENTING THE DAMNED OF THE PIT. THOUSANDS OF YEARS SURROUNDED BY MEWLING, PATHETIC WORMS WHO WERE ALL COWARDS AND FOOLS IN LIFE AND IN DEATH. TO FINALLY COME ACROSS A MORTAL WHO ISN'T A SPINELESS MAGGOT, EVEN IN THE FACE OF HELL ITSELF...YOU HAVE NO IDEA JUST HOW TRULY REFRESHING THIS IS. THEY TOLD ME THAT YOU WERE A DIFFERENT KIND OF MORTAL ALTOGETHER, MIKE SCHMIDT. A CREDIT TO A WORTHLESS RACE. I DISMISSED IT AS MEANINGLESS RAMBLINGS AT THE TIME, BUT NOW I SEE THAT I HAVE THOROUGHLY UNDERESTIMATED YOU. AND I BELIEVE SOME CONGRATULATIONS ARE IN ORDER, AS YOU HAVE PUT UP A BETTER FIGHT AGAINST ME THAN MOST DEMONS COULD HOPE TO CLAIM. I WAS EXPECTING TO BE DEFIED. I WAS NOT EXPECTING TO BE OUTSMARTED. „
~ Nightmare congratulating Mike Schmidt on being able to successfully repel his attempts to break him and his ghost children apart.
“ SCHMIDT. YOU DID WELL THIS NIGHT. IT HAS BEEN CENTURIES SINCE A MORTAL HAS EARNED MY RESPECT, AND EVEN LONGER SINCE I HAVE FOUND THE NEED TO EXPRESS THAT RESPECT OPENLY. YOU HAVE SUCCEEDED TONIGHT IN BOTH, AND I SALUTE YOU. „
~ Nightmare expressing his respect to Mike Schmidt before giving him a warrior's salute, the closest expression of him acknowledging someone else as an equal.

Nightmare is a major antagonist-turned-anti-villainous ally of Five Nights at Freddy's fanfiction Mike's New Ghostly Family, by Archcommander-Tenebros.

He's a powerful demon lord and a leader of the Nightmares, a clan of demons that rules over the lower circles of Hell, taking forms of twisted and monstrous versions of Freddy Fazbear animatronics that represent the corruption of innocense associated with the Fazbear franchise. Though he dedicated himself to the cause of evil, he is known to be one of the few demons who possess slivers of honor and morality and are allowed to periodically visit Earth, and has been known to frequently assist Mike Schmidt and his ghostly family when it comes to fighting William Afton, whom he absolutely despises.

What Makes Him Magnificent?[]

  • He's a genuinely skilled and competent demon lord who certainly lives up to his title with his cunning, craftiness and intelligence, and is a brilliant planner who always manages to turn the situation to his advantage.
  • He genuinely understands the value of family, treating his own family of Nightmares decently, always allowing them to enjoy themselves by tormenting their victims first before joining the fun and tolerating their behavior that would've gotten them killed were they led by any other demon lord. Per his words, the only time he hit a fellow Nightmare was when they dared to betray him (which is an understandable reason for a physical punishment), and, if his claim that they never contested his rule for centuries is any indication, these betrayals didn't happen for a very long time, thus not requiring him to punish them. At worst, he only insults or mildly humiliates them, something they aren't affected by in the slightest. In their turn, the Nightmares remain fiercely loyal to him and are always willing to follow his orders.
    • His understanding of a virtue of family relationships is the primary reason why he loathes William Afton, as he is completely repulsed by how the murderer treated his own children as disposable tools, sending Michael on a suicide mission to CBEAR to break Elizabeth free or by trying to corrupt Elizabeth into following in his murderous footsteps. And when he was revealing William Afton's true motivations behind his child murders to his ghostly victims, showing that William intentionally abandoned Elizabeth to rot in CBEAR's depths, trapped in Circus Baby's body, he gets as disgusted by this knowledge as the ghost children were, even though his reaction was more subdued.
  • Despite the fact that he's a vicious, malevolent and sadistic demon lord who enjoys torturing damned souls in Hell, his malevolence and sadism do not detract from his magnificence, as his victims primarily are genuinely horrible people (due to the fact that only the vilest souls end up in the lowest circles of Hell where he resides), the tortures happen offstage for the most part, and some of the tortures are even known to be comedic in nature (such as William Afton being forced to listen to "Friday" by Rebecca Black on the loop or getting beaten to death with a pot by Chica in the Ultimate Custom Night torture).
    • While he did torture Michael Afton by trapping him in cursed nightmares where he and his kin would torture him unless he survives until 6 AM, with them psychologically tormenting him all the way throughout the nights, he did so only because Old Man Consequences ordered him to do so. Also, remorseful or not, Michael Afton was still guilty of constantly abusing his brother before accidentally killing him with a prank that resulted in the Bite of '83. Furthermore, when tormenting him with words, Nightmare and his kin were not wrong in pointing out that Michael forced his brother to suffer before claiming his life, and Michael himself admitted that he wanted to be tortured by the Nightmares, believing it was the only way for him to atone for murdering his brother. And when Michael survived all 8 nights of Nightmare's torments, he allowed him to go free, with the last thing he said to the teen before departing being a cryptic warning about his eventual fate in CBEAR. His torments of Michael Afton also produced a side benefit of giving him a resolve to redeem himself, strong determination and bravery, and keen survival skills, all of which turned out to be beneficial in undoing his father's evil.
  • He's very proficient in psychological torture, managing to successfully break his victims' spirits with words alone. What makes his psychological warfare so devastating is not the words themselves, but the fact that none of them are inherently wrong, as those he aimed condemnations at cannot easily escape the weight of their sins.
  • He's genuinely honorable and always fulfills his end of bargain whenever he makes a deal, and also has a strict warrior code, which he adhers to; for instance, he considers it to be an insult for a warrior to interfere into another warrior's duel if said warrior is perfectly capable of handling themselves (such as refusing to interfere into a fight between Mike Schmidt and Nightmare Springtrap when the latter invades the former's mind, as Mike was shown to be more than capable of fighting back).
  • He is very pragmatic and never engages into senseless and petty acts of malice and cruelty if he knows it won't benefit him in the long run and/or will get him into trouble with Heaven, and is willing to aid the forces of good if it means he would gain something for himself. This pragmatism and reliability, along with slivers of honor and morality he possesses, are the primary reason why he is one of the few demons who are allowed to periodically visit Earth, a privilege less than 0.01% of all demons in Hell possess.
    • While he does screw over mortals on Earth by adding strokes of bad luck to their games for his own amusement, it's portrayed in a darkly humorous manner and does not cause any genuine long-term damage, thus making the reader entertained by his acts of mischief, rather than appalled and disgusted by supposed pettiness.
  • When accepting a wager William Afton made with him regarding breaking apart a new family the murderer's ghostly victims formed with Mike Schmidt, Nightmare made a win-win scenario for himself; he placed his bet on the family staying strong and loyal to each other, were their dark secrets revealed to each other, as opposed to Afton betting on them breaking apart, and used a deliberately flawed tactic of trying to break them apart simply by revealing their past sins and dark secrets to each other, which would've strengthened the family's bonds further if it failed to break them apart, thus leaving Schmidts' loyalty to each other as the only variable—should the family stay loyal to each other, he'll get to torture William Afton for a thousand years without Heaven's restrictions on damned souls' punishment, and if they would break apart and Afton would get to enjoy a thousand years free of torture, he'd still make it into a small victory for himself due to advancing the cause of evil on Earth.
  • When he appeared in the Schmidts' household, he managed to successfully trap the entire family in a living room and then proceeded to rip into their past sins, including the revelation that Elizabeth (now known as Liz) murdered her own brother Michael, which had a strong chance of convincing Mike to turn on against the ghost children. When Mike Schmidt successfully managed to defend the ghost children against his accusations, Nightmare, feigning a villainous breakdown, threatened to kill Mike (though without any intentions of actually following up on his threat), but when the man displayed no fear despite the fact that Nightmare looked like he was perfectly willing to end his life, the demon lord released the Schmidt family and congratulated Mike on successfully warding him off, developing a genuine respect for the man and casually revealing the Schmidts the reason behind his attack. Afterwards, he willingly accepted Mike's suggestions on how to worsen Afton's tortures as a sign of respect.
    • In spite of how horrible the psychological torment he forced the ghost children to endure was, the blow is still softened by the fact that he was actually deliberately holding back on his abuse, and the arguments he made were still perfectly valid, which allowed the ghosts to reflect on themselves and their actions in a new light. And while Liz would still be affected by his condemnations, she'll be able to recover from it in span of several months, thanks to the support of her new family and Michael himself descending from Heaven to put her self-doubts at ease. And since he already won his wager against Afton, he made no effort to terrorize the family afterwards in any future meetings.
  • When he came back to Hell to mock Afton over his failure to ruin the ghost children's happiness, and William claimed that he should've done his best to break apart the family and that they should've worked together because "[they're] both evil monsters", Nightmare was enraged by the killer's comment and, after clawing at his throat, proceeded to verbally tear into Afton's atrocities, especially those he committed against his own children, and even successfully claimed a moral superiority over the murderer without any hypocrisy. Afterwards, he proceeded to give Afton his just desserts by putting him through the first of tortures Mike Schmidt suggested: a reenactment of Afton's death in Spring Bonnie suit.
  • Though he had a slip-up by falling for Vucarik's distraction attack and allowing him to free William Afton, injure the younger Nightmares, steal their essences, give them to Afton, turning him into Nightmare Springtrap, and send him to Earth so that Nightmare won't be able to take part in the civil war in Hell, Nightmare was still able to successfully recover from this slip-up by ordering his Nightmares to revert back to their true demonic forms and assist Vucarik's opposers (Lucifer's loyalists and status-quo supporters who saw Vucarik's power grab for what it is) in the civil war in Hell. He also forewarned Mike Schmidt about Afton's attack, anticipating that William would try to claim his revenge against the man, and then explaining that Mike may be able to turn tables against him in the mental world should Afton try to possess him to attack his soul, also promising to save Mike in his time of need. And lastly, he joined the civil war in person, reverting back to his true demonic form and destroying all of Vucarik's forces, which were an army of millions, with just three spells. Afterwards, he prevented Vucarik's escape by severely mauling the demon lord before allowing the rest of Hell to decide a punishment for him.
    • During the civil war, he not only managed to completely decimate Vucarik's armies, but also proved himself to be a worthy and valuable ally by healing, revitalizing and greatly empowering the demonic armies he allied himself with, further assisting them in crushing Vucarik's rebellion.
  • After crushing Vucarik's rebellion, Nightmare arrived to Earth with Nightmarionne and Nightmare Fredbear to keep his promise to Mike and assist him in bringing escaped William Afton back to Hell. He entered Mike's mindscape to provide him assistance in case William would ever gain an upper hand, and when Mike proved himself to be more than capable of defeating him on his own, Nightmare simply stood on the sidelines, satisfied with the knowledge that Mike's got the situation under control. When Schmidt subjected William Afton to horrific tortures in his mind, Nightmare appeared to gloat over William's predicament and even refused to take him back to Hell, giving Mike extra time to torture him due to seeing it as a crueler option of Afton. When Mike was stopped from delivering the finishing blow by his mother's soul descending from Heaven to calm him down, Nightmare claimed William Afton's soul and took back the stolen essences of younger Nightmares, along with the essences of a fallen army of William Afton's demons lent by Vucarik, before banishing the murderer back to Hell, succeeding in his goals of seeing Afton's plans crumbling and witnessing the full extent of Mike Schmidt's inner darkness.
  • After seeing how Mike Schmidt was able to successfully crush Afton's plans and break him completely, Nightmare developed a full-fledged respect for the man, bestowing upon him a personal infernal blessing known as the Anathema Curse, which would make William Afton suffer should he ever approach Mike, and giving him a warrior's salute, the closest he ever displayed to acknowledging someone as an equal, which, according to Nightmarionne, he didn't give to any demon lords for a very long time. In his turn, Mike Schmidt forgave Nightmare for attacking his family, acknowledging that Nightmare was the primary reason why they were able to fight back and win against William Afton.
    • Though he admitted that he contemplated corrupting Mike Schmidt into dark side, he never genuinely seeked to go through his plans, as he knows that Mike has too many moral anchors to prevent the corruption, and that Heaven closely monitors him and his family, and it would be foolish of him to anger Heaven by attempting to corrupt Mike. He also admits to his superior, Old Man Consequences, that he respects Mike's positive qualities as much as his negative ones. He also points out that his primary goals were simply to see Afton's plans ruined and to witness Mike Schmidt's inner darkness with his own eyes, both of whom were successful, so he does not consider being unable to corrupt Mike to be a loss.
  • After developing respect for Mike, all of Nightmare's subsequent interactions with the Schmidt family were non-hostile and even amiable in nature, with Nightmare helping Mike out with reenacting Trivia Murder Party in his mindscape and introducing him and his family to the "Ultimate Custom Night" torture, allowing the ghosts to vent their frustrations on William Afton by allowing them to choose what animatronics to force the killer to fight back against. He also gave Mike ways to easily call him in case of need, including giving him his phone number.
    • Eventually, when he heard from the ghost children that they chose to move on from their hatred and stop participating in "Ultimate Custom Night" tortures, he understood their choice and took it in stride, accepting that they'd prefer to do the morally right choice in the end. Afterwards, he decided to give them an opportunity to learn of William Afton's true motivations by setting all animatronics A.I. on 20. Mike Schmidt accepted the offer, and after the family learned of William Afton's petty and flimsy motivations before the murderer's yet another inevitable death that was too cruel even for the most vengeful of ghosts to stomach, Nightmare accepted the responsibility to torture William Afton without their collaboration.
  • After learning from Mike Schmidt about the existence of Glitchtrap and the fact that there are thousands of Glitchtraps spread across the copies of Fazbear Entertainment's VR game, he immediately agreed to tackle the problem, being genuinely disturbed by the implication of thousands of William Aftons possessing countless innocents and terrorizing the world with their evil. After failing to find out how to stop Glitchtraps on his own, he immediately arrived to Old Man Consequences, who conveniently summoned him to discuss the threat posed by Glitchtrap, and asked him for an advice. When Old Man Consequences tasked Nightmare with "cleaning up the mess" Fazbear Entertainment caused and retrieving a copy of Fazbear Entertainment's VR game with Glitchtrap in it for a ritual, the demon lord accepted the order and asked his superior to prolong his presence on Earth, which he received, though not without Old Man Consequences scolding him that he is aware of Nightmare's ulterior motives and threatening him with punishment should Nightmare disobey him (even though Nightmare had no intention to do so).
  • Once he retrieved the copy of Glitchtrap and was taught the ritual by Old Man Consequences that would destroy every single copy of Glitchtrap, barring those that managed to escape, Nightmare came to inform Mike Schmidt about his advancements, warning the man that his ritual would cause massive collaterial damage so that he'd be able to form a decent alibi to prevent Fazbear Entertainment from accusing him of destroying the warehouses that house the game's copies. Later, he set a specific date that would minimalize the human casualties (to not get into trouble with Heaven) and performed the ritual with his fellow Nightmares, destroying the warehouses and the Glitchtrap-infected game copies with them. When he discovered that one copy of Glitchtrap had already escaped, Nightmare decided to continue his collaborations with Mike Schmidt and his family, while also entrusting Nightmare Bonnie with researching Glitchtrap's nature, giving him Glitchtrap from the game copy that was used in the ritual to serve as a guinea pig.
  • After calling Mike Schmidt and his family to discuss further plan of action, Nightmare and Mike form a plan to retrieve another copy of VR game from which Glitchtrap had escaped to ensure that all traces of Glitchtrap are gone, hoping to exploit Fazbear Entertainment's desperate situation to claim the game copy for themselves. To do so, he changes himself into a human form and poses as a private video game developer that would be able to recreate and mass-produce Fazbear Entertainment's video game, offering them free work in exchange of complete autonomy over the video game development, with the greedy and desperate company left with no choice but to agree to his demands.
  • After claiming the possessed beta tester's game copy and gaining complete autonomy over the video game development, he, along with Mike Schmidt and Jeremy, inspects the game to discover that beta tester had their soul merged with Glitchtrap, as opposed to having their places swapped, and then goes off to recreate and improve the video game, hoping to implement multiple failsafes that would ensure that Glitchtrap would never be able to return, such as Nightmare animatronics who would track down and destroy any traces of Glitchtrap missed, added under the guise of "Halloween release additions", also adding a harmless facsimile of Glitchtrap to serve as a warning to the population about his threat, while also trying to find any clues about the identity of Glitchtrap's victim.
  • Once he recreated the game, he proved himself to be an outstanding video game developer, drastically improving the game experience by rearranging the main menu and adding much more content, with his additions being considered to be genuinely impressive by the Schmidt family and helping to make the game a bestseller. He also added a secret buried deep in "Curse of Dreadbear" pack, hidden in the Corn Maze level and requiring finding all five keys to unlock, with Grimm Foxy serving as extremely challenging opponent. When presenting the first copy of an improved game to the Schmidt family, he informed them of a secret and requested that they find it for themselves to ensure that the Schmidt family will prove that their determination to redeem themselves is genuine and so that they'll be able to enjoy the fruits of his labor. He also ordered Nightmare Foxy (a.k.a. Grimm Foxy) to serve as a guide for Mike Schmidt to find the Corn Maze secret, and once the secret was found and the Nightmares withdrew their presences from the game, Nightmare continued to observe the Schmidts' efforts to stop the Glitchtrap's possession victim, choosing not interfere until his help would be needed.
  • When the Schmidts found about Fazbear Entertainment's plans to mass-produce the animatronics for unknown purpose and got Eisensteel, Mike's old company, to reject their offer, Nightmare appeared while they waited for the next call, offering them to kickstart another torture session for Afton via Ultimate Custom Night, giving them the chance to learn about William Afton's true motivations behind murdering them. Once the session ended, he informed Mike Schmidt that he and his family made a mistake in handling Fazbear Entertainment's problem, admitting that their actions of getting Eisensteel to refuse them were justifiable and understandable, yet were still the wrong course of action. He was proven right, as Fazbear Entertainment found another robotics company that cares less about morals than Eisensteel does or doesn't have the influence to stand up against the corrupt corporation.
  • Once he learned from Susie about Fazbear Entertainment's Special Delivery project and the fact that Mike Schmidt had his arm and leg broken by Toy Bonnie the corporation sent him, Nightmare was enraged by their display of incompetence and the fact that the mortal he genuinely respected got badly injured. Offering his sincere condolences to the Schmidt family, he decided to assist Mike Schmidt in his plans by forcing Fazbear Entertainment to be more cooperative. Requesting permission from Old Man Consequences to let him mentally torture Mr. Averus, an executive of Fazbear Entertainment, along with many other executives, he ensured that Averus and the others would not reject Mike Schmidt's proposals and ideas, and that they won't try to sabotage the man. He also demanded that Averus and the others keep their torments a secret even from the other fellow tortured executives to maintain the secrecy. And to ensure that the company won't shut down out of fear or conscience, he limited his tortures only to half of executives to preserve the organization's existence.
    • While it did lead to negative outcome of one guilty Fazbear Entertainment executive confessing about the Special Delivery project and the fact that a man got injured, thus dealing a severe blow to Fazbear Entertainment's reputation, putting the company's existence (and Mike Schmidt's plans for it) at risk, Nightmare genuinely did not anticipate this outcome, as he didn't expect any of Fazbear Entertainment's executives to have an epiphany, and in spite of the damage his actions had caused, Mike Schmidt and his family were still able to find a way to adapt to this situation.
  • Despite the fact that he has low opinion on humanity, outright calling them a worthless race at one point, it does not detract from his magnificence, as his contempt for humanity is portrayed as cold indifference, rather than disgust and hatred, and he does not let his views on humanity cloud his judgement when it comes to interacting with individual humans and can actually respect the humans if they prove themselves to be worthy, as shown with his interactions with Mike Schmidt, his mother, Henry Emily and Evan Afton.
  • Though he was stated to have a very low opinion on stupidity and incompetence to the point that he'll team up with the forces of good to stop evil that was born from idiocy, with his hatred for Fazbear Entertainment being the primary target of his vitrion, his hatred is actually understandable and does not make him any less magnificent, as Fazbear Entertainment's incompetency endangers innocent lives due to their avarice and apathy, a type of evil Nightmare does not condone or endorse in the slightest. And while it was noted that he hates stupidity, he's still able to tell when people were being genuinely stupid or when they made an honest mistake, and would be less harsh to people in latter cases, best shown when he admitted to Mike Schmidt that his actions when dealing with Fazbear Entertainment were understandable and justifiable, even if they were the wrong course of action.

What Makes Him a Baddie?[]

  • In spite of his redeeming qualities, he's still a demon lord from Hell who relishes in preying on the fears and black truths that humans dread and enjoys viciously torturing damned souls in the Inferno. It was also stated that he serves the cause of good only if he has something to gain for himself, not out of genuine altruism.
  • Per Old Man Consequences' orders, he and his demonic family subject Michael Afton to unique torture by cursing him with nightmares from which he's unable to wake up unless he survives against their attacks until 6 AM, with Nightmare animatronics gruesomely murdering him every time he fails to fend them off, "resetting" the nightmare. Throughout the trials, Nightmare and the other Nightmares tormented Michael by guilt-tripping him over his horrible treatment and accidental murder of Evan. Nightmare, in particular, was the most vicious of them all, deliberately prolonging his life during the murders before finishing him off.
  • Accepts William Afton's wager regarding whether the new family formed by the murderer's ghostly victims and Mike Schmidt would break apart and turn on against each other if he reveals the dark truths they hid from each other, commiting multiple heinous acts for the sake of fulfilling the wager:
    • To foreshadow his attack on the Schmidt family, he cursed Cassidy by casting a spell onto her that would make her experience a PTSD-esque flashback that would force her to relive her murder, which would be triggered if she sees anything that would remind her of the day when she died, the trigger turning out to be a cake slice Mike Schmidt took from his friend's birthday party.
    • Right before appearing in the Schmidts' household, he forced all ghost children to experience the nightmares about them forcing to see their loved ones (Mike Schmidt for the MCI victims, and Henry Emily for Charlie) be unable to fend off their past animatronic selves, give up on trying to fight back and accept their deaths, and then be murdered by them. For Liz, he gave her a different nightmare, forcing her to relive the day she murdered her brother Michael in Circus Baby's body and the day when she was burned down as Scrap Baby in the trap pizzeria, all while the dream version of Michael condemned her and accused her of betraying him and siding with William Afton before disowning her as a sister as she burned down before waking up.
    • When he finally shows up, he reveals himself by instantly defeating Charlie and holding her hostage, thus forcing Mike and the rest of the ghost children to come to her aid. Once he got them all in one place, he seals off the exits with his magic to prevent their escape. Afterwards, he begins to psychologically abuse the ghost children by throwing the weight of their sins back at them, forcing them to relive the murders of countless innocent nightguards they've killed, and then mocking them for how they did nothing to redeem themselves and never changed for the better, intruding on and worsening Mike's life by burdening him with their presence. When Mike stands up to defend them, Nightmare tries to pit the kids against him by bringing up how Mike indirectly contributed to their suffering by setting their A.I. to 0, which weakened them enough to allow their bodies to be destroyed by William Afton and worsening their fates for many decades to come. When that fails, he threatens to kill Mike to attract Liz's attention. Though he didn't intend to follow up on his threat, that still horrified the ghost children.
    • Once he brought Liz's attention to herself when she shapeshifted into Scrap Baby form to attack him, he proceeded to mock and condemn her for her past when she was Circus Baby and submitted herself to William Afton. After that, he punched her and constrained her movements before cruelly revealing that the man she lured into the Scooping Room to kill and turn into a meat puppet for herself was Michael Afton, her own birth brother, and that he deliberately sacrificed himself to save her from CBEAR and give her freedom. Afterwards, he accused her of betraying Michael and spitting on his gift by swearing loyalty to William Afton even as Michael tried his best to undo his evil before twisting the knife further by stating that the deceased do not return to Earth and claiming that Michael would never stand by her side for everything she has done. This revelation emotionally devastated Liz to the point that she wasn't able to do anything but cry in remorse, and his accusations would still continue take toll on her psyche for months long after his attack, continuing to fuel her intense self-loathing, even though she'd eventually be able to recover.
    • When Mike Schmidt was able to defend his family against all of Nightmare's accusations, Nightmare threatened to kill the man, greatly horrifying the ghost children. Even though it was revealed that he won't be able to harm Mike, he still made the ghosts believe that their adoptive father and a new beacon of hope would've been killed with them not being able to do anything but watch.
    • Though he did ultimately place his bet in the wager on the family staying strong and loyal to each other, it was primarily so that William Afton would lose the wager, thus allowing him to torture the murderer without any constraint for the next 1000 years. He also admitted that even if the family got broken apart by his revelations, he'd still consider it a victory since he'd advance the cause of evil on Earth.
  • When fighting Vucarik's forces, his first spell transformed the demonic troops that were killed by the spell into tortured wraiths, unable to pass on to Hell's reincarnation cycle, and forced them to attack their own allies, turning more of the deceased demons into wraiths before he finally released them to the reincarnation cycle of Hell, deciding to move on to another spell. His second spell drove other Vucarik's troops into mindless frenzy, forcing them to attack each other, and even the other demon lords allied with Vucarik ended up attacking each other, before Nightmare finished off the rest of Vucarik's legions with the third spell that obliterated the rest of his army and then gruesomely and sadistically mauled and mutilated Vucarik before leaving him at the mercy of all demons who opposed him.
  • In the pursuit of his goals to see Afton's plans crumble and witness the full extent of Mike Schmidt's inner darkness, he ends up exposing Charlie to the full display of Mike's inner cruelty, leaving her deeply disturbed and possibly even traumatized for a very long time. At one point, when introducing the rest of Mike's children to the "Ultimate Custom Night" torture he made for William Afton, he saw Charlie being horrified at the sight of the Marionette, her former animatronic, gruesomely murdering Afton, and mockingly congratulated her for her viciousness.
  • He subjected Mr. Averus and many other Fazbear Entertainment executives to gruesome tortures in their dreams, the ones very similar to Michael Afton's torments, to force them to be more cooperative with Mike Schmidt, simply because he was enraged by the corporation's incompetency, especially given that it led to the mortal he respects the most being injured and hospitalized.
  • Although his hatred for William for being a bad father is fair, it’s rather weak compared to his other crimes, of which Nightmare never seems too bothered by.
