Cain, otherwise known as the Father of Murder, is the overarching antagonist of Season 9 and one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside The Darkness) of Season 10 of the CW horror series Supernatural.
He was portrayed by Timothy Omundson.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- He is arguably the most powerful demon in the entire series, being immune to the Demon-Killing Knife of the Kurds, and still being able to use his powers while inside a Devil Trap, something even the first demon Lilith couldn't do and had to first remove the trap using telekinesis. With the power of the Mark of Cain, he was effectively unkillable, and only became killable again after he willingly gave a copy of the Mark to Dean Winchester.
- He saved his brother Abel from being condemned to Hell by offering himself in Abel's place to Lucifer, even taking on the Mark of Cain and killing Abel himself knowing if he didn't that Abel would be taken to Hell by Lucifer.
- He was considered the deadliest demon to ever walk the Earth, and created a legion of demonic generals known as the Knights of Hell in order to aid Lucifer, powerful enough to the point that only he was capable of defeating him.
- He showed a massive amount of resistance to the Mark of Cain, falling in love with a human woman named Colette and killing all of the Knights of Hell when they capture her. Even after she is indirectly killed by Abaddon, he manages to overcome his desire for revenge due to Colette asking him to give up on violence before she died, at which point he threw the First Blade into the sea and retired to a home to live quietly.
- Upon Dean and Crowley coming to his house in order for help on defeating Abaddon, they are pursued by an army of demons, and Cain ultimately agrees to give Dean a copy of the Mark of Cain and quickly dispatches of the demon army.
- He resumes killing due to the Mark of Cain and begins hunting down his bloodline to get rid of everyone who has a propensity for heinous crimes, and is eventually taken down by Dean. Cain truly believes this is better for the world, and doesn't attempt to harm Castiel even after he threatens him, as he has no desire to kill anyone that isn't on his list.
- Even upon Dean confronting him, Cain explains that he wants to help Dean by saving him from giving into the corruption of the Mark, and once Dean cuts off Cain's hand and is about to kill him, Cain accepts his defeat peacefully.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- During his time as a Knight of Hell for Lucifer he led a demonic army and killed thousands, and created the Knights of Hell including Abaddon, who went on to become an apocalyptic threat.
- Killing the demons that invade his home leads to him giving into the Mark's corruption once again and resume killing his bloodline. As he stated to Castiel, this would have resulted in him killing around one-tenth of the population on Earth had he not been stopped by Dean.
- He wanted to kill Dean in order to "save" him from the Mark, and while this does seem to think this is genuinely helping Dean, it is still murder and would have made Cain essentially unstoppable.
