Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ḫartapu, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Karadağ. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hello, Tarchunes. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Bergmönch, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Vinod 11:41, 4 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

WP:PROFRINGE and categories

[edit]

I've just reverted several additions of cryptozoology categories into article spaces. Since cryptozoology is a pseudoscience closely related to Young Earth creationism and ufology, and the term "cryptid" is not used by academics (the term was coined by cryptozoologists), please be mindful of WP:PROFRINGE in these topics. :bloodofox: (talk) 08:04, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Understood. I will place the concerned pages henceforth in the corresponding "Legendary creatures" categories.--Tarchunes (talk) 08:17, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

We already have Puck (folklore)

[edit]

I believe there exists some connection.Xx236 (talk) 11:40, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There indeed is a connection, but the Puck discussed in that article (as shown in the introductory sentence) is only the English legendary and moreso literary creature which admittedly is a domestic spirit, too, but also has other aspects (e.g. people getting puck-ledden - not mentioned in the article) which can't be found in the German legendary creature. What possible connection there is, at least the etymological one, I also mention in the article Niß Puk. I further would not, as could be done too, conflate the Niß Puck with the scandinavian Nisse just because the names Niß and Nisse are largely similar and both are domestic spirits. Rather, both should be regarded seperately as similar beings of different but related folklore traditions. The same is thus true for Puck and Niß Puck, which should be regarded seperately. That is what I believe, to say the least. Tarchunes (talk) 12:21, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well, there are similar names everywhere. One could further list Celtic examples such as the Irish Púca, the Welsh Pwca, and the Cornish Bucca. Tarchunes (talk) 13:07, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fangga moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Fangga, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.  // Timothy :: talk  17:20, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, do you think Fangga is the proper name for the article? I started a discussion on the talk page.  // Timothy :: talk  17:31, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Timothy,
I am somewhat confused for I used perfectly reliable independent German language sources which I cited the most exact way possible so that there might be no mix-up for even a single word. There should be no content which is connected to some specific footnote. Particularly the Handwörterbuch des deutschen Aberglaubens from whose volumes I cited several entries is - despite its age of 80+ years - still the common reference for anything in German folklore and even partially accessible on Google Books. (I used the print version, though.) Tarchunes (talk) 19:24, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I meant, There should be no content which is NOT connected to some specific footnote. Tarchunes (talk) 04:45, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
