Now how did you avoid a welcome message for so long! I'll try to explain about orphan templates. The orphan template is used when an article is not adequately linked to other articles - making it tricky for a reader to navigate from one article to another. One way to fix it, is to include links to Acquisition (military) in other related articles. I've just added links from Procurement and Purchasing as well as to the disambiguation page Acquisition. On the tool bar at the left of your screen you'll see a subheading called "toolbox." The top link in that section is called "What links here". If you click on that link on any page in the Wiki, you'll see the other pages that link to the page you are currently viewing. If you try on the Acquisition (military) page you'll see that there are now four incoming article links. The rule of thumb for when an orphan becomes no longer an orphan is 3 incoming article links - your article now has 4 - so yep, you can delete that tag! You're doing a great job on all these new articles - thanks for helping to build the encyclopaedia. This place can be pretty confusing at first, so if you have any questions, please feel free to leave me a message - and keep working on these great articles. Cheers, Paxse (talk) 16:19, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Re: Corsican immigration to Puerto Rico
[edit]Hello Sidna, how are you doing today?
In reagard to your question:
Q.: Why is the Antommarchi family not included ? Thanks! user:sidna
A.: The reason is that the Antommarchi family was not among the "first" Corsican families in Puerto Rico. The list in the article is a historical list which contains the surnames of the first 403 Corsican families who immigrated to Puerto Rico in the 19th Century which was compiled by noted genealogist and historian Colonel (USAF Ret. ) Hector A. Negroni. dozens of other Corsican families immigrated to the island after the initial 403 families. This is the same reason that the surnames of Mayra Calvani, Luisa Capetillo and Vicente Carattini, who are of Corsican descent are not on the list. Yet, you will find these people in the section "Notable Puerto Ricans with Corsican surnames". Take care Tony the Marine (talk) 01:36, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Acquisition category
[edit]Hi Sidna, I understand perfectly well what acquisition means in a military context; however, the category as constructed did not in fact reflect that meaning, which is what I noted at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2009 May 6#Category:Acquisition. The CfD process addresses categories that do not conform to Wikipedia:Categorization; it does not make any judgment as to the merits of the subject matter. Sorry that you did not feel kept in the loop; there is a proposal to keep CfD discussions posted for a full week instead of five days at Wikipedia talk:Categories for discussion#Extension to seven days. -choster (talk) 16:14, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Authoritative Definitions of systems
[edit]Hi, I removed the new section you added at the system article and explained at Talk:System#Authoritative Definitions. After a suggestion by Angeloh I readdded your section in the systems engineering article. -- Marcel Douwe Dekker (talk) 10:20, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
Army Modeling & Simulation Directorate
[edit]Unless there's a good reason to do it some other way, Army Modeling & Simulation Directorate should be moved to the new name, and edited into its new form there. We generally don't delete the history of an article just because an organization requests it. I have contested the prod on these grounds. You will need to do a speedy on the new name since you edited there. Do it under G6 general housekeeping, and then perform the move from the old name to the new name. Gigs (talk) 15:13, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
Have seen all the hard work you've done on the G-8 page. You probably should expand the Department of the Army page and link it in with the above page as well - it is probably a too detailed for anything more than a short linking paragraph at the main United States Army page. Kind regards Buckshot06(prof) 23:40, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Urban Terrain
[edit]The article Urban Terrain has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- This is nothing more than a dictionary definition; what can be gleaned from military sources does not offer more than the regular dictionary does.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Drmies (talk) 20:25, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
