New Children of Bodom Album
[edit]Hello, I was checking out your user page and I noticed that you like COB, too. Have you heard about the band recording a new album later on this year? Check out www.cobhc.com to see what I mean. Alexi Laiho met near-disaster this January when he accidentally stepped over the foul line at a bowling alley, slid down the alley, crashed and broke his left shoulder. He made a full recovery in April; the band has since been writing new material.
I'm fairly new to Wikipedia (my brother URFG has been a member much longer), and I'd like to know if we can go ahead and create an article for it. If we can, do you want to help me out with the image creating/main discography box? Dark Executioner 19:40, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Dark Executioner
Check out www.scythes-of-bodom.com. My brother URFG told me about it; they have enough info for at least beggining an article. He beat me to it, but at least now you know where it came from. Check it out! Dark Executioner 13:08, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Dark Executioner

Monte Ne
[edit]Hi, you posted an opinion peer review for the Monte Ne article. Since then the article has gone through considerable revision. Would you mind please taking a look at it at the article once more and leaving a new comment in the FA nomination that is going on right now. Thank you.--The_stuart 22:12, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
GA Images
[edit]I don't think I ever failed a GA solely because of images, and if I did I would be happy to rectify this. I generally add images as one of the reasons for failing, as it is my opinion, and interpretation of the GA criteria, that images certainly improve the article. - G1ggy Talk/Contribs 21:53, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
Still Reigning
[edit]Sorry about the delay. I'll type up the sources for you shortly. WesleyDodds 06:12, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Ok, here we go. Cite this in the footnotes as "King, Kerry. "South of Heaven" column. Guitar World. Holiday 2004.":
- We performed the Reign set on last fall's Jägermeister tour, and it went over big with audiences. We would leave the stage early, then come back and play the entire Reign in Blood record from start to finish as an encore. Later, when the tour was finished, our manager came up with the idea to film a live performance of Reign in Blood for a DVD and to have stage blood rain on us. it's something we had wanted to do back when we toured for Reign in Blood, back in 1986, but we didn't have the budget.
- We filmed the show in Augusta, maine, right at the beginning of Ozzfest 2004. No one in the audience knew what we were going to do, so the reaction was completely genuine. Halfway through the set, we killed the lights, and when they came back on, we wee all covered in blood. Our bassist, Tom Araya, had the most on him because he stood right under the spray. He looked like a psychotic mass murderer. The crowd actually went quiet for a few seconds until they realized it was part of the show. We went through a couple of big barrels of the stuff because we did two drops. For the first drop, we used pure stage blood. For the second, we used stage blood cut with water, so it looked like it was raining blood.
- The DVD has other song we performed that night that weren't on Reign in Blood. Dean Karr, the director, choose [sic] them for the DVD because in each one, someone in the band really excelled. In addition, our last DVD, War at the Warfield, didn't feature Dave Lombardo on drums, but this one does, and that's going to be important to a lot of people. WesleyDodds 07:48, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Re: Lombardo
[edit]Cool, I'll see what I can do in order to get it ready for FAC. I'm usually at my PC most days doing website related work, so when its at FAC I'll try addressing some of the concerns. When you nom it, make sure that you point out it's the drummer of Slayer and not say the Beatles (if you don't point it out, they may expect you to unearth more info on some things). Look at this - any old pics you uploaded, make sure to add a fair use rationale. LuciferMorgan 11:00, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
- I'm waiting for when Slayer get around to releasing "Final Six" by the way, as I reckon I'd have to write up an article for it. LuciferMorgan 11:03, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
- Some stuff for the Larry Carroll article. LuciferMorgan 18:39, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Slayer
[edit]I am telling you, that the author said that I can use it, and the normal picture doesn't even have Dave Lombardo in it. People might think that he's not in the band if he isn't in the picture, idiot. Pro Game Master87 04:03, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
The Good Article Medal of Merit
[edit]The Good Article Medal of Merit | ||
I have awarded you this medal for your work in helping to reduce the backlog during the Good Article Candidates Backlog Elimination Drive. You reviewed five or more articles during the drive, which helped to contribute to the large decrease in the backlog. If you have the time, please continue to review articles to help make sure the backlog does not jump back up to what it was. Good job and happy editing! Nehrams2020 06:45, 15 June 2007 (UTC) |
Image:Shadowsfall1.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Shadowsfall1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Leon Sword 21:39, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
Bleeding Through
[edit]Hi there. Thanks for the advices. You are right about the weak points of this article. I've already started working on fixing it:
- I've removed all red links.
- I've removed the unnecessary, pointless wiki links.
- All the retrieve dates were already given when there is a retrieve date. When I didn't give one it is because those references aren't interviews or news or articles, they're biographies and I couldn't find retrieve dates on the pages. So I think that it shouldn't be mentioned as a mistake. I always add retrieve date to each and every reference I add, every time it's possible.
- I will work in the next few days on adding more references and on the body of the article. Gocsa 15:59, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well the actual guideline on this says: "The parenthesized date should be the date/year the document was created, or last edited; this should be omitted if it cannot be determined." See it here. Gocsa 09:54, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, I think I understand now, so 'date' is when the page/news was created and 'accessdate' is the date I added the reference, so always the actual 'today' date. Gocsa 10:30, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- I've corrected the punctuation thing you've mentioned and added the band name into the main body. I've also added some references and more information on the albums (reviews, etc.) with references of course. Is there anything left you think should be improved? I think it's quite ready now. Gocsa 14:54, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

- You're welcome. With working so hard on bringing that many articles to GA and FA standards, plus all your reviewing efforts, you deserve it! There are a number of others I would like to work on but the time involved in research alone is overwhelming so I'm taking a little break from expanding any right now. But as always, I like to do the "little things" with the musicians work group; copyedits, assessing, tagging, deletion review, and have been getting my feet a little wet with FA reviewing but I'm afraid my confidence is not quite there. Basically, just really enjoy floating around..:) Cricket02 13:52, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Spam in System Mechanic
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on System Mechanic, by 196.12.53.9 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because System Mechanic is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting System Mechanic, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it did not nominate System Mechanic itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 21:36, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
Iolo technologies
[edit]A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Iolo technologies, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. July 2007 GAC backlog elimination drive
[edit]A new elimination drive of the backlog at Wikipedia:Good article candidates will take place from the month of July through August 12, 2007. There are currently about 130 articles that need to be reviewed right now. If you are interested in helping with the drive, then please visit Wikipedia:Good article candidates backlog elimination drive and record the articles that you have reviewed. Awards will be given based on the number of reviews completed. Since the potential amount of reviewers may significantly increase, please make sure to add :{{GAReview}} underneath the article you are reviewing to ensure that only one person is reviewing each article. Additionally, the GA criteria may have been modified since your last review, so look over the criteria again to help you to determine if a candidate is GA-worthy. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the drive's talk page. Please help to eradicate the backlog to cut down on the waiting time for articles to be reviewed.
You have received this message either due to your membership with WikiProject: Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. --Nehrams2020 23:30, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Dark Executioner. I have just 1 question about the Slayer page: should we add groove metal to the genre listing? At least in my opinion, the stuff on God Hates Us All and certain songs off of Christ Illusion fit this genre perfectly. But, seeing as how retarded folks start genre wars on Wikipedia constantly, I haven't put anything yet.
Also, are you a fan of:
- Black Sabbath
- Children of Bodom (new album out 2008)
- Pantera
- KoЯn (new album out July 31st, 2007)
- Slipknot (new album out 2008)
- Rob Zombie
- Sepultura (new album out 2008)
- Dying Fetus
- Cannibal Corpse
Let me know! Dark Executioner 17:06, 1 July 2007 (UTC)Dark Executioner
Are you going to respond, or just ignore me? I want to talk to somebody about heavy metal that actually knows what they're doing. From what I can imply, it looks like you do. Dark Executioner 15:40, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Dark Executioner
- He's busy in real life Executioner and hasn't edited since the 1st of July. If you have any improvement suggestions for Christ Illusion by the way, please speak to me as I am the one who got it to FA status (I've got 3 Slayer articles to FA, M3tal H3ad the rest). Thanks. LuciferMorgan 14:10, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
It's okay, dude. I realize how busy people's lives can be. As for GHUA and CI, well, I still enjoy them, but I'd really like to see Slayer return to both the lyrical and musical style of Reign in Blood. That's what got me hooked on them in the first place. Dark Executioner 14:22, 23 July 2007 (UTC)Dark Executioner
I heard on my local radio station (BTW ATL radio SUX! It's so repetitive and they don't even play good songs!) that Slayer was going to return to the studios next year and record a new studio album. Has there been any official word about this? Dark Executioner 14:41, 23 July 2007 (UTC)Dark Executioner
Bleeding Through
[edit]Hello! I've seen you doing some edits on the Bleeding Through article, it is quite ready now, but still failed GA nomination twice, the problems are the lead section, which somehow needs to summarize the article better, and the other problem was that it is not neutral. Can you please help me, I don't really have any more ideas, but it's just so close to GA that I don't want to stop now.. I don't really see how it is not neutral and I see the problem with the lead section but I can't improve it. Gocsa 19:19, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- This is the message I've just received from the GA reviewer:
- "Ah, sorry, didn't mean to say neutrality issues. Now, the objectivity is fine. The only thing left is some word usage. The article is very flowery, and has a lot of over-the-top words, and some of them don't fit and or aren't correct, such as:
- " The formative steps would be taken under the banner of Breakneck in 1998..." also, the sentence kind of loses ground after the list of band members.
- " Line-up changes, witnessing the departure of Van Huss and the recruitment of Marc Jackson (Throwdown / Cold War) to cover bass whilst Tafolla reverted to guitar,[9] pushed the band into a sharper edged death metal feel and with that shift the new band name of Bleeding Through was duly adopted (after playing only one show as Breakneck[5]).[10]" should be reworded, as it's pretty blunt in current form. Could be "As the band witnessed various lineup changes, the departure of band member Van Huss and subsequent recruitment of Marc Jackson, they were pushed into a (sharper edged is NPOV) more conventional form of death metal." Also, what exactly was the change in sound?
- " Also, the addition of keyboard was quite odd for a metalcore act as it brought some black metal influences into the music" doesn't really need to say "was quite odd", kind of POV-ish, even if the sources do reference it as being "quite odd".
- The article needs some expansion. Sentences such as "After these two relatively unrecognized albums, Bleeding Through..." are pretty vague. When I read the article, I felt somewhat in the dark. The comprehensiveness needs to be increased more for depth and completeness.
- A general copyedit is needed. You may wish to contact the League of Copyeditors for some assistance.
- These are some major points that should be addressed first before the article is re-nominated for GAC." Gocsa 21:23, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- Why did you put in this part?:) "Although some critics praised the ..."? Gocsa 10:08, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
- Well, you're free to edit it and make more, separate sections for albums, I just felt these two are enough, but if you think the separate sections are better for a GA, just do it:) Also, do you have any thoughts on how to improve the lead section? What else can we add? And feel free to edit the lead, too, of course:) Gocsa 12:14, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

To research for the intro (most zines don't seem to do intros) I did what we usually do - do a Blabbermouth search, etc. For The Last Kind Words, I also used Ultimate-Guitar.com for some of the info. I read that The Last Kind Words shifted 14, 000 in its first week of US sales - that type of info you can find at Blabbermouth since they usually run items once a week on album sales. With their debut, I read on Blabbermouth that it was also to be called Thirteen. The main issue I find in the DevilDriver article is this - I can't find anywhere where it tackles Pitts leaving, and Spreitzer joining. It needs to address that really. Having said that, it's a future GA in the making. Good luck with iut. :) LuciferMorgan 16:34, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- I can't find anything on that either. I read on your page that you're due to overhaul Cannibal Corpse sometime - the interview I did with Chris Barnes is quite good if you wish to get his side of the story on why he left. There's also a short bit on the band in "Choosing Death" by Albert Mudrian - give me a bell when you begin work, and I'll bring that book out for you. The book is good on how they got in "Ace Ventura - Pet Detective". LuciferMorgan 15:25, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- I didn't think there would be enough on Cannibal Corpse, to be honest. I'm going to try interview past / present CC members in future, so hopefully that'll bring something to light. When you're due to work on CC, give me a bell. If I have time, I'll add the info from the Mudrian book. Has a little about their signing etc. - not much, but book sources lend more weight to an article as you know. LuciferMorgan 17:15, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Re: BFMV
[edit]You have to scroll down due to me being targeted by the Gestapo. BFMV feedback I'll post at the review oage as I find it, and good luck in future GAs / FAs - you reckon there's a GA lurking in Machine Head's tribute song to Dimebag? Could be. LuciferMorgan 12:18, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- Not too sure as concerns the names of Lombardo's children and the year he was married - do you really need it? An article needs to be comprehensive, and the article is as best as it can be. I don't think any details are really missing from the "Slayer" section of Lombardo - all I would suggest is doing that "Main article :Slayer" thing above the section. To your question... do I know of any interviews of where a metal band's entire history is documented in the one article? Only thing that immediately brings to mind is an email interview I did with a French band called Lyzanxia (supported Soilwork, and sound a bit like modern In Flames), which can be found here. LuciferMorgan 08:59, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
- Lyzanxia link now works - I made typo mistakes. LuciferMorgan 10:10, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
- Enough for GA? Which article are you referring to? If you're referring to Lyzanxia, interview links can be found here. LuciferMorgan 13:16, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
Anette image
[edit]Hey there, you still around? I noticed you uploaded an image of Anette Olzon at Wikimedia Commons. Could you please upload the highest resolution instead? And with a better name (like Anette Olzon, Halloween 2007.jpg)? I would do that, but since it was you the one who uploaded it, I don't want to step over you (especially since the smaller image will have to be deleted). Thanks for catching the image too! -- ReyBrujo 03:38, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, sure, thanks for the image too. Now, there is a slight problem: you uploaded a modified version of the image, therefore the bot that checks whether the image is correctly licensed won't be able to do so. I suggest uploading the original (exact) image from Flickr, and then link the PNG version to the other as a "cropped" version. That way the bot can verify the original image faster. -- ReyBrujo 03:49, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Userpage
[edit]The way you have your page set up with the featured articles and good articles is cool, do you mind if I do that with Godsmack? Skeeker [Talk] 05:05, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
Godsmack Peer Review
[edit]I put a request for Godsmack to be peer reviewed, and you told me some things I could work on. First of all I would like to know what a Lead is, you had mentioned it, but I don't know what it is. And second, I will be working on Godsmack on a sandbox page (User:Skeeker/Sandbox/Godsmack), so would you mind checking it out every so often and coach me?
Thank you very much,
Skeeker [Talk] 02:41, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you, I am working in my sandbox right now. Skeeker [Talk] 02:47, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- The only thing on your list I have not done yet is expand the album articles. I seem to be the only major contributor to the article, so any help I can get is nice, so thanks for helping out. As a side note, I've noticed that you claim you are going to work on Hellyeah sometime. Could you tell me when you do that, as I want to get that article looking better also, I make articles for singles and such when they are released.
Once again thanks, Skeeker [Talk] 04:01, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- Who they got their name is stated in the influences section. If I put that earlier in the article should I remove it from later? And if I placed it earlier in the article wouldn't that kind of screw up the timeline? Skeeker [Talk] 04:14, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- I have the name issue taken care of now. With the influences section, should that be renamed or removed? I personally have never liked it being there. Anything that needs to be taken care of please let me know on my talk page or by e-mailing me at sleep_walking_elite@hotmail.com. Thanks, Skeeker [Talk] 04:41, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'm sorry I don't understand what you mean by "Just try and get two paragraphs of information for each section." Skeeker [Talk] 04:54, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- I have pictures of Godsmack that I took in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on July 21, 2007. If I get them uploaded or developed or something, can I use it as an infobox picture? Skeeker [Talk] 06:05, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- That would be great if you could do that. I don't know what they are like, it was a cheap camera and I don't know when I can get a hold of them. I have the camera right next to me but my computor isn't reading it. Skeeker [Talk] 07:09, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, I had a second wave review fron User:J Milburn, he said that I had to many one sentance paragraphs. Could you help me out be telling me what else to put into those paragraphs. And could you show me a proper source? Thanks, Skeeker [Talk] 01:29, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
- I fixed all of the references. How close would you say this article is to GA or FA status? Could you find an image on Flickr? Thanks, Skeeker [Talk] 04:21, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Okay, there's not a whole lot of stuff to take care of is there? Skeeker [Talk] 04:25, 14 November 2007 (UTC) I fixed everything on your new list, accept the style section. Do I need a style section for it to be GA? If not I am going to work on it, but I will probably take a break on Godsmack and work on Alice in Chains and Hellyeah for a little while. Skeeker [Talk] 02:18, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
- I made a style section. Can you tell me what else I need to add? Skeeker [Talk] 03:33, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- There is only one quote template now. Is the article a good article nomminee now? Skeeker [Talk] 09:39, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- I copyedited the article. When you said make the sentances flow better did you mean just the Style section? Skeeker [Talk] 12:11, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Also, do I replace {{peerreview}} with {{oldpeerreview}}? Skeeker [Talk] 03:26, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- I noticed that on Talk:DevilDriver it says {{GAnominee|2007-11-11}}. Do I put that and just add todays date like this, {{GAnominee|2007-11-18}}. Skeeker [Talk] 03:35, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Would you mind getting a band picture for the infobox? I am not very good at getting pictures. Thank you again for helping me. Skeeker [Talk] 03:48, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Awesome, thanks. Skeeker [Talk] 00:18, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- Wow, thanks alot. You have been a lot of help. Skeeker [Talk] 02:26, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
I was supposed to put this here. sorry I don't know the correct template, but you are supposed to categorize Image:Godsmack.PNG. Image:Godsmack.PNG Skeeker [Talk] 00:53, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- I submitted Godsmack for a GA nominee, and somebody put LONG next to it. What does that mean? Skeeker [Talk] 21:41, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
Re: Favour

Alice in Chains
[edit]Will you review Alice in Chains on my talk page please. It is a current GA nominee. Skeeker [Talk] 04:01, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
The Blackening

Metallica article
[edit]In the Metallica article you removed the fact that they were "Grammy Award-winning" around line 17 as POV. Why? Isn't it more of a fact rather than a POV issue? --Rockfang 08:03, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
Your reasoning was logical. Thanks for explaining. --Rockfang 08:21, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Breaking Benjamin article
[edit]Yeah, I kinda figured that it might not have been ready. People had messed it up so bad that I didn't even know how to fix it. That was probably my first MAJOR contribution to Wikipedia, but people screwed up the entire page so I still have a lot to work on. I Thank you for taking the time to review the page at least. :D Also I was wondering. If you get the chance, I would really love some help with the page. RaikiriChidori (talk) 01:36, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
K, thanx. RaikiriChidori (talk) 03:06, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
GA nomination on hold, see DevilDriver (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views). Dihydrogen Monoxide ♫ 23:05, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- I would edit about something other than Powderfinger, but I know very little about anything...anyway, checking (and probably passing) the GA now. Dihydrogen Monoxide ♫ 06:28, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- OK, passed. Bullet for My Valentine is now on hold. Dihydrogen Monoxide ♫ 06:39, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- Hellyeah on hold. — Dihydrogen Monoxide 02:09, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
- OK, I'll pass it in a moment. I stand by my aussie-music statement though :P — Dihydrogen Monoxide 02:52, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Metallica
[edit]I haven't listened to my Metallica albums in years, but I'm definitely familiar enough with the band yo help you out beyond Peer Review. Let me know if you need anything in particular. WesleyDodds (talk) 10:57, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- I would like to help all I can on 'tallica, they are my favorite band. I was going to work on it myself. Right now I am doing Metallica discography and Jar of Flies. What is copy editing? Skeeker [Talk] 03:47, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- I think the article is ready to go for GA or FA. Nice job.
Thank you,
Skeeker [Talk] 02:30, 10 December 2007 (UTC)- Looks ok, but if you're actually serious about getting this to FA I really think you need the likes of Tony to comb 1a prior to FAC. Otherwise, there's the danger this may go down the same route as The Blackening. LuciferMorgan (talk) 17:11, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
