Welcome to the Wikipedia 1.0 team

[edit]

Hi, thanks for signing up to help with the 1.0 team. I'm going to be putting together a site map soon (yes, our activities have got that convoluted!), but in the meantime I hope you can find things to interest you. In recent months we have been very focused on bringing out our first effort, Version 0.5, so other activities have been pretty quiet, but Version 0.5 is about ready for release now (just awaiting lawyers and a couple of scripts) so hopefully things will wake up a bit. Is there any particular project that you're interested in helping with? Let me know, and I can let you know what's going on. Thanks for your interest, Walkerma 03:28, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lengthy Sig

[edit]

I didn't change your signature on the TFD page, but many of us find overly-lengthy sigs annoying when editing a talk page, and find effects disruptive when reading a page. Personally, your sig has about the same jarring effect on me as SHOUTING. I ask you to at least think about changing it out of consideration for your fellow editors. Thank you for your time. Robert A.West (Talk) 05:48, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, and the guidelines for signatures do not allow it. JorcogaYell! 10:44, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I came to this page with this same request. It is really hard to read a page when your signature is 6-7 lines. Please shorten the signature. If you have already done so, please ignore this message. Cheers, - Aksi_great (talk) 12:26, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, it's only 4 1/2 lines long.  INFORMATION CENTER©   04:56, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done.  INFORMATION CENTER©   04:51, 18 January 2007 (UTC) Actually, it's still too long. Try to stick to 250 characters or less. JorcogaYell! 05:50, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am here also to request you shorten your signature. Links to your User and Awards along with a link to a subpage advertising a defunct project, along with five (if I counted correctly) style changes? It is too much. What about this? INFORMATION CENTER - links to userpage, talk, and awards, and is 275 characters. Still long, but better. KillerChihuahua?!? 12:10, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Signature

[edit]

I've noticed that your signature is very large (and if I might say, a little ugly). If you want, I can make you an alternate one that preserves the text with less code. -- Chris is me (u/c/t) 16:44, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

 INFORMATION CENTER©

6 lines at 1024*768... (it's also not XHTML-friendly, but no big deal)

informATION center

or, to match your current (old?) sig,

informAtion centEr

which is just barely four lines, but my window's (basically) 800*600, so no big deal.

There, a three line signature, although instead of green-e I used green "center", feel free to change that. (As an added bonus, your colors would now be in the 216 web-safe pallete of color!) -- Chris is me (u/c/t) 17:05, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What about my original text version (INFORMATION CENTER© (TC))?  INFORMATION CENTER©   07:42, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Better, but still very long. that's 5 lines and 467 characters. -- Chris is me (u/c/t) 17:08, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The font must be Mac-only. On mac it looks perfect. -- Chris is me (u/c/t) 23:01, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm still working on a newer, shorter sig. Stand by! INFORMATION CENTER© (TC) 04:40, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your support

As you set out for Ithaka, hope the voyage is long
Knowledge is your destiny, but don't ever hurry the journey
May there be many summer mornings when
With what pleasure and joy, you come into harbors seen for the first time

Don't expect Ithaka to make you rich. Ithaka gave you the marvelous journey
And, if I, one of your fellow-travellers, can offer something
To make this journey of yours even more fascinating and enjoyable
This is my assistance with anything I can help.

Being that you were inactive on many cases and did not contribute significantly to the article, Battlefield 2142, your name was removed. The few edits you did mainly consisted of sets (such as example 1, FIX, FIX 2), and most of which were note kept, thereby a majority of your previous edits were reverted according the good article status. The model used for the situation being shown is that of Final Fantasy VII, which itself has reached FA status. Do not revert previous edits that were made in model of an already FA status article. Welcome to the Wikipedia 1.0 Review Team!

[edit]

Hi IC, Thanks for signing up for the review team. We just released our test CD, which received a surprising amount of press coverage - this indicates that there is a lot of interest in what we're doing. (That's also why it's taken a while for us to contact you!) Please help to make the next release even better! Let me know what you're interested in, or if you want some guidance. If you prefer, just take a look at the FAQ page and get started. Thanks! Walkerma 02:27, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GAC backlog elimination drive

[edit]

This form message is being sent to you either due to your membership with WikiProject Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. A new drive has been started requesting that all members review at least one article (or more, if you wish!) within the next two weeks at GAC to help in removing the large backlog. This message is being sent to all members, and even members who have been recently reviewing articles. There are almost 130 members in this project and about 180 articles that currently need to be reviewed. If each member helps to review just one or two articles, the majority of the backlog will be cleared. Since the potential amount of reviewers may significantly increase, please make sure to add :{{GAReview}} underneath the article you are reviewing to ensure that only one person is reviewing each article. Additionally, the GA criteria may have been modified since your last review, so look over the criteria again to help you to determine if a candidate is GA-worthy. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the GAC talk page. --Nehrams2020 00:28, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kingdom Hearts II GA

[edit]

Hi -- you have marked Kingdom Hearts II as being under GA review but haven't yet provided a review. Could you either review it or take off the review tag so someone else can? Thanks. Mike Christie (talk) 22:21, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

July 2007 GAC backlog elimination drive

[edit]

A new elimination drive of the backlog at Wikipedia:Good article candidates will take place from the month of July through August 12, 2007. There are currently about 130 articles that need to be reviewed right now. If you are interested in helping with the drive, then please visit Wikipedia:Good article candidates backlog elimination drive and record the articles that you have reviewed. Awards will be given based on the number of reviews completed. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the drive's talk page. Please help to eradicate the backlog to cut down on the waiting time for articles to be reviewed.

You have received this message either due to your membership with WikiProject: Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. --Nehrams2020 23:26, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:POKE is doing some housecleaning

[edit]

This notice is to inform you that because many people have added their names to Wikipedia:WikiProject Pokémon#Participants but do not seem to be active, all names are being deleted in an effort to find out who is still truly interested in the project. All you have to do is re-add your name if you'd still like to be considered a member of WP:POKE. Any questions, you can contact me on my talk page. -ΖαππερΝαππερ BabelAlexandria 17:40, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:CVU status

[edit]

The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you! I noticed that this article has been marked "under review" by you for over a week. Might I suggest that you either decide to pass, fail or put on hold the articles or remove the "under review" notice so that others may review the article? Cheers, CP 21:22, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. You are receiveing this message because your name appears on the WikiProject Council participants list. The WikiProject Council is currently having a roll-call; if you are still interested in participating in the inter-project discussion forum that WT:COUNCIL has become, or you are interested in continuing to develop and maintain the WikiProject Guide or Directory, please visit Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Participants and remove the asterisk (*) from your name on the list of participants. The list of participants of the Pokémon WikiProject is quite sizable, however, there is no way to determine which of whom are active contributors to that project. All participants in the list have been moved to Inactive. If you consider yourself to be an active member of the Pokémon WikiProject, please go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Pokémon#Participants and move your username to the Active section. Thank you. GA Sweeps invitation

[edit]

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I am sending you this message since you are a member of the GA WikiProject. I would like to invite you to consider helping with the GA sweeps process. Sweeps helps to ensure that the oldest GAs still meet the criteria, and improve the quality of GAs overall. Unfortunately, last month only two articles were reviewed. This is definitely a low point after our peak at the beginning of the process when 163 articles were reviewed in September 2007. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. All exempt and previously reviewed articles have already been removed from the list. Instead of reviewing by topic, you can consider picking and choosing whichever articles interest you.

We are always looking for new members to assist with the remaining articles, so if you are interested or know of anybody that can assist, please visit the GA sweeps page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. If only 14 editors achieve this feat starting now, we would be done with Sweeps! Of course, having more people reviewing less articles would be better for all involved, so please consider asking others to help out. Feel free to stop by and only review a few articles, something's better than nothing! Take a look at the list, and see what articles interest you. Let's work to complete Sweeps so that efforts can be fully focused on the backlog at GAN. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! April 2010 GAN backlog elimination drive

[edit]
WikiProject Good Articles will be running a GAN backlog elimination drive for the entire month of April. The goal of this drive is to bring the number of outstanding Good Article nominations down to below 200. This will help editors in restoring confidence to the GAN process as well as actively improving, polishing, and rewarding good content. If you are interested in participating in the drive, please place your name here. Awards will be given out to those who review certain numbers of GANs as well as to those who review the most. Hope we can see you in April.

New Page Patrol survey

[edit]

New page patrol – Survey Invitation

Hello Information Center! The WMF is currently developing new tools to make new page patrolling much easier. Whether you have patrolled many pages or only a few, we now need to know about your experience. The survey takes only 6 minutes, and the information you provide will not be shared with third parties other than to assist us in analyzing the results of the survey; the WMF will not use the information to identify you.

  • If this invitation also appears on other accounts you may have, please complete the survey once only.
  • If this has been sent to you in error and you have never patrolled new pages, please ignore it.

Please click HERE to take part.
Many thanks in advance for providing this essential feedback.

You are receiving this invitation because you have patrolled new pages. For more information, please see NPP Survey

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New deal for page patrollers

[edit]

Hi Information Center,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings Recent Changes Patrollers!

This is a one-time-only message to inform you about technical proposals related to Recent Changes Patrol in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey that I think you may be interested in reviewing and perhaps even voting for:

  1. Adjust number of entries and days at Last unpatrolled
  2. Editor-focused central editing dashboard
  3. "Hide trusted users" checkbox option on watchlists and related/recent changes (RC) pages
  4. Real-Time Recent Changes App for Android
  5. Shortcut for patrollers to last changes list

Further, there are more than 20 proposals related to Watchlists in general that you may be interested in reviewing. (and over 260 proposals in all, across many aspects of wikis)

Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

Note: You received this message because you have transcluded {{User wikipedia/RC Patrol}} (user box) on your user page. Since this message is "one-time-only" there is no opt out for future mailings.
