CorenSearchBot. error at Hindustan (disambiguation)
Since I am only creating a disambiguation page, please note the text at http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=1006022816459 is obviously a copy from wiki. Give it a second look, and compare...an dyou'd know for yourself. (Ekabhishek (talk) 10:40, 1 May 2008 (UTC))
A suggestion
Hi Coren, I have been following along after your bot and adding db-copyvio tags where appropriate. I have a teensie suggestion; in addition to tagging the article, could it place a little note on the article's talk page with the link that the bot found. The reason is that the page's creator frequently just removes the bot's tag, and the copyvio survives unchecked. Being newbies, they will probably not even notice the existence of a talk page. Let me know what you think, thanks, Phlegm Rooster (talk) 02:27, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Note about the Page Harbor Beach Community Schools
Hello Coren,
I was informed that I should mention something if the bot thought the page was overly plagiarized when it wasn't. The source I sited has one thing on it, and thats the schools address. (Its the schools old homepage) I assume thats why it thought it was plagerized. Can you look it over and tell me what you think? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Theultimate2009 (talk • contribs) 15:02, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Advice
I advice you regarding violation of user:DIREKTOR for this restriction. Always DIREKTOR persists in several edit wars pushing his POV statements. Articles involved:
- Republic of Ragusa
- Albania Veneta
- Dalmatian Italians
- Josip Broz Tito
- Foibe massacres
- Istrian exodus
- many others.
You can control history of these articles for evidence! Regards and best wishes. Nemo, 1 May 2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.67.84.15 (talk) 14:36, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Hidrellez
Problem:
The CorenSearchBot has performed a web search with the contents of this page, and it appears to include a substantial copy of:
http://www.turkleronline.com/turkler/ingilizce/turkish_culture/festivals%20ceremonies/hidrellez.htm
Yes the page has many similarities with the mentioned page because both of them depend on to the Turkish Ministry of Tourism and Culture. A copy of the original may be found at
http://www.kultur.gov.tr/EN/Yonlendir.aspx?17A16AE30572D313A781CAA92714FCE06A5A2497543C96C6
if the link is working. The Ministry's main mission is to promote Turkish culture and I think this usage is allowed. Unfortunately the web site is down right now. Hopefully with more people contributing it will be a more original work. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nenena (talk • contribs) 07:44, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Dalian Hansen SearchBot Error
Coren, I was also the original author of the information found on the amerpedia page. It was made public domain at that time, so am not sure if the bot missed the copyright status. In any event, I have substantially edited the wikipedia entry so that its wording is unique and specific only to this entry, thus avoiding any infringement issues. This is in reply to this message: "This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Kiribath, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Chamal N:/Draft of article."
Yes they are the same because 'Chamal N:/Draft of article' is the draft I created in a subpage of my userpage before making the actual page. I have now deleted that page. Also removed the tag from the article.Chamal (talk) 03:27, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Coren, your searchbot discovered similarities between the page I created on Peter Hocken and an existing biography at http://www.tjcii.org/Executive-Bio-Fr-Peter-Hocken.htm. I have now substantially re-written the page adding additional information from other sources. As far as I can tell the text is now unique to wikipedia. Hi - Just had text blocked by your bot (very clever :-) for One planet living, but the text I used is from a WWF site with the correct License ([1]). I should know (I hope) as I put it there :-)
It's really important that people can take text from our site and re-use it (not just for the entry I'm trying to add).
If our licence is lacking in some way, I'd appreciate it if you could tell me how to get it right and/or stop your bot from blocking people who want to copy and use information from our site.

A Gent from Bear Creek
Hi. Your bot noted a similarity between A Gent from Bear Creek and http://www.howardworks.com/gentj.htm. The article is about a collection of short stories and the the only similarity to the page cited that I can see is the list of stories (and perhaps the image, which has an appropriate fair use template). In fact, I got the list of contents from The Science-Fantasy Publishers: A Bibliographic History, 1923-1998 which I did cite in the article. I'm not sure that a list of contents is something that falls under copyright. If I am mistaken in this, please let me know. I do intend to do other articles on other story collections, which probably also list their contents on the same web site. Though I don't know how your bot would be able to differentiate between this and legitimate copyright violations.--Rtrace (talk) 22:24, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

- And as a result of that discussion, and later requests at my talk page, I've added User:Blofeld of SPECTRE and User:Editorofthewiki to the bot's whitelist at User:CorenSearchBot/allies. I've seen their work before and while it does get troublesome for those on Newpage patrol, there's nothing wrong with the articles themselves - it's the rubber-stamped template they're using that's confusing the bot. Hi, if possible you may want to configure your bot to ignore matches coming from the Dictionary of Greek and Roman Biography and the Dictionary of Greek and Roman Antiquities. Both are public domain reference works from the mid 19th century (both the editions I use are from 1870) and get recycled a lot for classical Greek and Roman subjects on Wikipedia. Thank you for your attention to the new page. Some elements - mostly written by myself - stem indeed from the page BVM. BVM is a page open to ALL Christian churches but was overloaded with Catholic info. This created some questions, so I opened the BVM RC page, expanded and changed it considerably (since you noticed it), and changed the structure of BVM so it is open to all points of view. I suggest that the bot should suppress its warnings when text is discovered to be identical to part of an existing article, and the edit summary contains the word "Split" and the name of the original article. If the edit summary doesn't match, it still might be appropriate to use a different warning from one for text taken from a different site.
I'm surprised to see the bot didn't also pick up on Waikawa, Marlborough, split from the same parent at about the same time.-gadfium 03:02, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Welch award page
Hi Coren,
I have modified the text about the award Medard W. Welch Award so your bot should not be upset about it. Please don't delete it. This award is quite a big deal in scientific community.
I wander if you know how fix the redirection. Apparantly there are two "Welch awards". Simply Welch_award redirects to Robert A. Welch Foundation, so when on the scientist pages somebody wrote Welch Award it takes them to the wrong page. I have corrected a few instances but that is going to be a problem when other pages will start filling in.

I received a notice from CorenSearchbot that a substantial part of the page for this man comes from thePeerage.com. This is true, since it's the only source I could find for information on him, and bc there was little information given, paraphrasing is difficult. I think that given those circumstances, the stub is fairly done with no intent to plagiarize. If more information had been available, I would have written the page differently, but until other resources arise, I think redoing it adequately is unlikely.
