List of digital television channels in Australia

[edit]

@Billy Liakopoulos: Hi. In the table for the Seven Network, why are you frequently changing the name "Untitled New Channel" to "Untitled Seven's fifth digital Channel"? The original title was placed there as the channel is currently untitled and because it is listed as "New Channel" on any EPG. Adding in the "Seven's fifth digital Channel" part is unnecessary as readers can already see from the table that it is Seven's fifth digital channel and the extra text in that cell distorts the size of the cell to an unnecessarily large size for a channel that has not even begun broadcasting. – Nick Mitchell 98 talk 02:58, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

ABC HD relaunch

[edit]

@Billy Liakopoulos: Hi. Thank you for adding the information about ABC HD's relaunch to the channel's article. However, as a heads-up, next time you add in details about a channel launch or relaunch to an article, can you please include a credible source to support your edit? I was about to remove your uncredited information until I did a quick search myself and found a credible source which I have added to the article. Thanks again for your edit. – Nick Mitchell 98 talk 06:57, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of PLUS7 for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article PLUS7 is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PLUS7 (2nd nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. DGG ( talk ) 05:28, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of programs broadcast by Network Ten, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Uptight and Dangermouse. Editing without references

[edit]

@Billy Liakopoulos: Hi. Thank you for expanding the information that I added about Ten HD's revival to other articles. However, next time you do this, please include the sources cited on the original article to support the new information? I notified you about this in December 2015, so I'm just reminding you again to make sure. I have corrected these errors.

Also, until an official statement is released by Network Ten stating otherwise, Ten HD's destination channel should be kept as channel 1 due to the fact that channel 1 is the channel that Ten makes their HD broadcasts, and all other revived HD channels have been returned to their original channel number.

ABC Television template changes

[edit]

@Billy Liakopoulos: Hi. I noticed that you reverted my edits to Template:ABC Television that were made to bring the template in line with the format of other similar television templates (e.g. Template:Nine Entertainment). I wish to discuss the situation with you and see your reasoning for your edit. – Nick Mitchell 98 talk 07:59, 18 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Network Ten

[edit]

@Billy Liakopoulos: Hi. After thorough and lengthy research, I made detailed and time consuming edits to Network Ten, Ten HD, One and Eleven that corrected the channel name stylisations to all-caps. This is supported by all of Ten Network Holdings' annual reports (e.g. 2015, 2011 and 2006) and other official media (e.g. [1], [2], and [3]). My case is well supported, and I clearly noted this in my edit summaries, however, you reverted my edits without contacting me asking me about my reasoning. I would like to discuss this matter with you and come to an understanding. – Nick Mitchell 98 talk 05:19, 20 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Billy Liakopoulos: Please come here to discuss the issue first before you revert my edits like you have just done at Network Ten. – Nick Mitchell 98 talk 09:12, 20 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Categories and subcategories

[edit]

I've just reverted a few of your resent edits, eg [4][5]. Please have a look at WP:SUBCAT, in particular:

a page or category should rarely be placed in both a category and a subcategory or parent category (supercategory) of that category"

Please consider reverting your recent edits where you added a parent of an existing category. Thanks, Mitch Ames (talk) 11:26, 11 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Re [6] and similar - again I ask that you please read WP:SUBCAT.
Category:National Basketball League (Australia) venues is a subcategory of Category:Basketball venues in Australia, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (and others) is in Category:National Basketball League (Australia) venues, therefore it ought not also be directly in Category:Basketball venues in Australia, because according to WP:SUBCAT

a page or category should rarely be placed in both a category and a subcategory or parent category (supercategory) of that category

If you think that Category:National Basketball League (Australia) venues ought not be a subcategory of Category:Basketball venues in Australia, then please remove it.
If you think that one of these categories should be a {{Non-diffusing subcategory}} or {{All included}}, as described in WP:DUPCAT, then please say so, and/or update the categories according.
If you think there is some reason why WP:SUBCAT should not apply to these articles, please say so explicitly, so that we can discuss why.
If you don't understand my objection, please say so, so that I can try to explain better.
In any case edit-warring is not the answer.
Thank-you, Mitch Ames (talk) 03:38, 17 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Similarly Kingborough Sports Centre (and others) that are in Category:Defunct National Basketball League (Australia) venues ought not also be directly in Category:Basketball venues in Australia, because they are already in it indirectly - Kingborough Sports Centre is in Category:Defunct National Basketball League (Australia) venues, which is in Category:National Basketball League (Australia) venues, which is in Category:Basketball venues in Australia. Hence my reversions [7] etc. If you still disagree, please discuss the matter. Mitch Ames (talk) 11:27, 19 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Caution against cut and paste page moves

[edit]

Hi Billy. Thank you for your edits to Australian TV articles in the wake of the 2016 media shakeup. However, there is one critical detail that you have overlooked, by performing a cut and paste page move from Southern Cross Ten to Southern Cross Nine, you have damaged the page edit history of the original article. All that you needed to do was request a page move at WP:RMT, which I have done. Please try to avoid repeating this mistake in future. If you are unable to move a page in future, please go to the appropriate forum to request an administrator perform the move instead. Regards. – Nick Mitchell 98 talk 14:46, 30 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Free-to-air television channels in Australia

Hi, I've reverted your edit which reverted my edit to Template:Free-to-air television channels in Australia. [edit]

Hello, Billy Liakopoulos. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Replaceable fair use File:WIN Television 2016 logo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:WIN Television 2016 logo.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ViperSnake151  Talk  03:28, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Sports broadcasting contracts in Indian subcontinent requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Ten 1989-91 logo.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Ten 1989-91 logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Category:Alter Channel original programming indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Liz Read! If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on One Week at a Time requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hello, Billy Liakopoulos

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Actualcpscm, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Fox Kids (Australia), for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Actualcpscm}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Deletion discussion about Fox Kids (Australia)

Hello, Billy Liakopoulos, and welcome to Wikipedia. I edit here too, under the username Actualcpscm, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Fox Kids (Australia), should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Fox Kids (Australia).

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Actualcpscm}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
