Original Research

[edit]
Discussion from user talk pages, and copied here, since it may be of interest to other contributors.

Ed, Thanks for your edits to tax patent. You are absolutely right about original research. I know I was pushing it, but I wanted to make the point that it wasn't just the US. The patents I listed are the foreign equivalents of US patents that have been classified by the USPTO as 705/36T.

Since I'm not aware of any references that talk about tax patents outside of the US, I thought I would step up to the plate and write an article on it. Any suggestions for a publication that might be interested?

In the meantime, feel free to delete the OR if you feel is it inappropriate.--Nowa (talk) 13:50, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message on my talk page. As far as I can remember, I haven't read anything on tax patents in Europe. It seems to be a purely US topic so far. If I find anything written on this, I will add a section. We can't just rely on original research. Otherwise, it is a very interesting article. Thanks for enlighting me (and others) on this subject. --Edcolins (talk) 17:31, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

U.S. Congress passes bill to prohibit tax patents

[edit]

I added a section on the bill passed by the U.S. Congress on September 8, 2011, that includes a provision that would essentially prohibit tax patents. It's the "Leahy-Smith America Invents Act." Once the bill is signed into law by the President (assuming that happens), more modifications to the article can be made. It looks like the bill would not impair the validity of tax patents already granted. Famspear (talk) 04:01, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! Very good edit. --Edcolins (talk) 08:49, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. Famspear (talk) 12:32, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The bill was signed into law by the President on Friday, September 16, 2011. Article has been updated accordingly. Once the official public law number is assigned to the Act, the article can be updated for that, too. Famspear (talk) 19:16, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
