90th anniversary
[edit]It seems the Queensland Heritage Register entry may be incorrect in its construction and opening dates considering its celebrating its 90th anniversary this month. After a quick search I can't find a reference to the exact date online. - Shiftchange (talk) 07:42, 5 October 2013 (UTC)
- I'm afraid the commercial opportunities of spring and Christmas sales versus the retail dead zone of the new year may be motivating the timing of the celebrations. The building was not finished on 13 Nov 1923 but hoping to br finished by Christmas. However I cannot find any evidence in the newspapers of any occupants until January 1924 and then new stores appear to open there over the following months. So I think the QHR is probably right.
