Incorrect etymology

[edit]

The original authors state (p. 143): "Etymology. From Latin agastus (pleasing) and Greek Myrmica (ant)." Agastus can not be found in classical Latin (as checked in Lewis & Short, Oxford Latin Dictionary (1968) and the Tensaurus Italograecus (1884)), but is seen as ἀγαστός (agastos) in ancient Greek. Myrmica is not even Greek. They might confuse the genus name Myrmica with the real ancient Greek name for ant, i.e. μύρμηξ (or alternatively μύρμος). So, currently, the Wiki article is providing incorrect information. Wimpus (talk) 15:53, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
