Nice work on the main entry. I've started an Alfredo Reinhado page. Will try for more if I get time. - Tale 05:49, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also linked this from Operation Astute. - Tale 07:04, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

[edit]
  • Disagree - The intricate details of the military operation and the units involved are only going to grow. They are already too big for the event page. The event and the military operation are two distinct subjects. Tale 07:39, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
BTW I noticed User:Nick Dowling has recorded his Disagree on the other talk page (but the discuss link points here). Tale 07:43, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Also, it seems quite normal for a military operation to have its own page. Operation Slipper is a mature example of a similar separate page. Tale 07:51, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - the problems with the Operation Astute page are that (1) The named operation only includes the Australian forces - not the international forces as is implied on that page - the multinational force will probably be given some other operational name (2) Previous pages about specific military deployments seem to get merged into the main article given that they have very little enduring encyclopedic value (see RAMSI). --Peta 01:51, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Correction

[edit]
  • Comment & Correction - There is no KD Merong Mahawangsa, but KD Mahawangsa. The reporter who had covered the news had made a mistake without realising about it. KD Mahawangsa derives its name from Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa, or The Legends of Merong Mahawangsa, which is a staple in Malaysian literature education. Thus, it is a suspect that the habit of writing Merong Mahawangsa was brought over into their working lives. User:amlisk 30 May 2007.

Australian bias

[edit]

this article is full of it, by hidding important info.--Pedro 13:56, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So fix it, citing references. --Scott Davis Talk 13:54, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Australian media, of all the English language media, has the most comprehensive coverage of the crisis, which is why primarily Australian sources are used. --bainer (talk) 15:43, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Would you care to provide some examples of this bias? --Nick Dowling 08:33, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Current event

[edit]

i dont not believe this this still a current event. remove currenn event label? Eevo 19:53, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The fighting is still going on. There are only no updates here. Compare it to the German article, which is frequently updated. --J. Patrick Fischer 19:12, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
hehe, i would love to compare but my German is limited to only army terms. :) the german page may be updated often, but the situation isnt changing rapidly, hence no need of the current evetns label Eevo 19:52, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, ther is now a new UN-mission since Wednesday and PM Ramos-Horta said, he will resign, if the fighting is not stopping. The rebel Reinado escaped from prison and so on... ;-) --J. Patrick Fischer 10:36, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Shakira song

[edit]

Should it be mentioned that the song by shakira is about the crisis and critices it. Timor (song) and if so where should it go? Daniel625 18:29, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wasn't the song about the 1999 crises, not the 2006 one? --J. Patrick Fischer 21:46, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
