OBEX is a 2025 American science fiction film written and directed by Albert Birney. It stars Albert Birney, Callie Hernandez and Frank Mosley.
It premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival on January 25, 2025.
Premise
[edit]Conor Marsh lives a secluded life with his dog, Sandy, until one day he begins playing OBEX, a new, state-of-the-art computer game. When Sandy goes missing, the line between reality and game blurs and Conor must venture into the strange world of OBEX to bring her home.[2]

[edit]OBEX had its world premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival on January 25, 2025.[3] In February 2025, Oscilloscope acquired distribution rights to the film.[4]
Reception
[edit]On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 100% of 15 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 7.4/10. Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 74 out of 100, based on 7 critics, indicating "generally favorable" reviews.
