The NAFC Championship was an official confederation competition for senior national teams of association football in the area of North America.

In 1947 and 1949, the NAFC Championship was organized by the North American Football Confederation. Cuba, Mexico, and the United States participated in both editions of the tournament. NAFC merged with the CCCF to form CONCACAF in 1961 and the NAFC Championship was replaced by the CONCACAF Championship in 1963.

After a 41-year absence, another North American tournament was organized by the North American Football Union. The North American Nations Cup was contested in 1990 and 1991 by Canada, Mexico, and the United States before the introduction of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, another edition was planned to be held in 1992 but was cancelled because Mexico and United States decided to participated in the 1992 Amistad Cup.

Although both were North American competitions, according to FIFA statutes, the North American Nations Cup was a NAFU regional competition and the NAFC Championship was a confederation competition organized by an official predecessor confederation of the current CONCACAF.
