Wellington is a minor character that appeared in two shorts. He is a brown mixed-breed bulldog with a black nose and does not have any dialogue except one line at the end of "Odor of the Day". He only appeared in two Golden Age shorts.

Appearances[]

Doggone Cats (1947)[]

In his debut cartoon, "Doggone Cats", Wellington appears as the main antagonist, taking pleasure in chasing Sylvester and his unnamed orange cat friend and bashing both cats with trash cans. When he is give strict orders from his mistress to take a package to Uncle Louie and to never let go of it or else she would beat him, Sylvester and his friend would proceed to torment Wellington as revenge for chasing them earlier. Though the dog eventually succeeds in taking the package to Uncle Louie, much to his shock and surprise, the package is revealed to be dinner for the two cats! Realizing that he has helped the cats in return for all of their trickery, Wellington brays like a donkey, having been made a jackass, and repeatedly hits himself with a mailbox and trashcan lids.

Odor of the Day (1948)[]

In his second and final appearance, "Odor of the Day", Wellington appears as a stray dog seeking shelter on a cold snowy winter night. After getting rejected from a bulldog's doghouse, an eagle's nest, and even a tortoise's shell, he then sneaks into a cabin with a fire and a cozy bed, but unknown to him, the cabin belongs to a skunk known as Pepe Le Pew, which means that the dog had to deal with the skunk's smelly odor which he couldn't handle. The two battle by spraying each other with scents. Pepé has his foul odor, while Wellington has his perfume. The two then dive into a frozen lake in an attempt to remove the smells, and they catch colds. Now unable to smell each other's scents, the two share the bed together.
